Garden City Event-Any Reports?

I am afraid I am going to get caught up in the excitement and buy BLT .... any other resort I would definitely get resale....lol.

If you are afraid of that now, just wait until you see and hear their presentation. They make BLT look even more inviting and enticing!

Diane - when are you going? We will be here on Monday night. Maybe we will see you there. :lovestruc

The presntations are being given through Monday. My guide said the incentives being offered are good through Monday so As long as yoiu go before Monday you can sleep on it bit you must contact your guide by Monday.

Another heads up, I don't know the age limit for the kids club but the youngest kids there (according to my kids age 11 and 9) looked around 3 or 4. There were a lot of impatient and crying babies and toddlers at our presentation--not easy for little ones considering it was an hour long. They had coloring books and crayons which might help a little.

We were also at the 10AM event and I agree with gk90.. lots of young children getting impatient. I believe the confirmation ststed that the kids club was for ages 4 and up.

We also did 2 50-point contratcs at BLT. Given the low dues, its the best long-term deal (other than VGC), IMHO. Breaks even with AKV in about 7 years .. that clinched the deal for us.

I noticed you have small children too! Mine our 7, 4 and 2! I know the 2 yo is not old enough for the kids club area. Are you bringing the baby in your avatar? I don't think my 2 yo will last a long presentation and I don't want her to be disruptive either.

That picture was taken 2 yrs ago on our last trip to DL. He is now 3 months shy of 4. I hope he does not get upset about not being able to go with his brother and sister. I am hoping he will be ok during the presentation. I think I will bring the leapster 2 and books for him.

Thanks for the reports. DW is going with DD and a friend(also DVC members) and her DD. A lot safer than if I went!:lmao:

This may be a silly question, but were adny of the kids dressed up in costumes for teh dance party afterwards? DH just asked me if I was going to dress our DD (5) in her princess dress.

Our guide, Rob Pavese is at the event! We've been playing phone tag with him over our VGC add-on. Sounds like he's busy!!!

Just got back from the 4pm event! One thing I wanted to note was that we were told the store is opening up on Sept 14th, but there was a separate ribbon cutting and celebration on October 17th.

They also said at the beginning that they had a separate room if parents needed to take a child out, and there would be a tv with a live feed so parents could continue to watch the presentation.

Dance party was fun but a bit chaotic! We got to see the characters and get pictures, but very chaotic indeed and my kids were a bit overwhelmed.

Here is a pic of our kids with Mickey! Not long after, Minnie came out and stood with Mickey for pics. Goofy and Pluto were out on the dance floor!

No Gina, I am going tomorrow at 1 o'clock but I dont think Dennis is coming anyway...I put me, Dennis and the 2 girls down but since we just got back last week THEY are all Mickey'ed out....I am bring an old friend and her husband instead. I really didnt want to go alone....do you think they will mind lol. I figured NOT since it is another prospective buyer.

I am having SUCH a hard time trying to decide on which resort to pick!!!!

I asked DH and DD if they'd noticed any kids dressed up and they both said no. But if you think your DD would enjoy it I say go for it! Being there was a bit like being back at Disney--we were all given mouse ears to wear, had photos taken with characters and also saw lots of CMs waving those cartoon character glove hands.

Thanks! She loves to wear her princess outfits, but if other kids aren't dressed up she may feel a little out of place. I think I will just dress her in a cute Disney outfit.

I can't wait for tomorrow night!:cool1:

Missed you last night. I'm sure you will make the right decision heaven knows you do your homework. We bought at SSR because with my kids getting older they enjoyed Pleasure Island and now it is gone. LOL Good Luck. Have fun. Gina

Gina....if you had to do it all over again....would you still buy in there?

The incentive was only good while you are there. You will need to decide on site.

This is a little disappointing. DVC never used to have to resort to these "decide now!" tactics, at least not in my experience. One of the things that had always made them better than other timeshares, but maybe that won't be as true anymore...

I was at the 10:00 presentation this morning (Sunday). They will give you the discounted price until midnight tomorrow. The guide I spoke with gave me his card and said just to leave a voice mail and they would honor the incentive.

We were just at the 10am this morning too. It was more of an information session to Dh and I as we recently bought into DVC sight unseen.... we have both been to Disney and through the recommendations of many friends and a wonderful guide we bought without seeing any presentations etc. I thought it was a great presentation, pretty funny at times....my Dh kept asking me questions and was suprised to hear of all the places that we can go etc. Our girls had a blast the entire time. For those with little ones, when we got there they said the kids room was for 3 and above, not 4, which was perfect as our youngest is 3 1/2. And they never asked to see our registration....hmmm....they sent enough reminders!!

And being able to take pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto were priceless......we all can't wait for our trip next week!!!

Was there any incentives for buying an add-on under 100 pts?

Good to hear. I have been worrying that DS would be jealous when he saw the other 2 go have fun without him. He will be 4 soon and is potty trained. Hope they say the same tomorrow night, if not then he will get to hang out with mom and dad.
