If you were having gallbladder problems, what would the symptoms be?? Just curious.

Jill

Mine was a pain in my chest, like I couldn't breathe well. My urine also turned orange in color. Turns out a stone had popped out and blocked a duct to my liver...this is fairly common, but dangerous and painful.

When I had Gallstones I never had any problems still I passed a stone. Then I was sure I was not going to live. Horrible pain in the middle of my tummy (not on the side where your gb is). Luckily I worked in a drs office at the time and they called a surgeon in the bld to come down and see me. I ended up having my GB out about a month after that.

My DH's symptoms included vomiting and intestinal distress. He also suffered from some right chest and abdominal pain.

I am actually going through this right now. They said there are a lot of symptoms..the ones I experience are attacks of pain across my abdominal area and it feels like it is tightening in on me, I have trouble breathing and walking is the only position i can stand to be in during it. They last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. I also get naseuous, vomit, lightheadedness. I was just taken toi the hospital for this on Monday.
And these are not gallstones.

Mine was like indigestion that would not go away. Finally in the middle of the night I went to the ER and had my gall blader out the same day and it was the first time I had any problems. Is quite painful to say the least.

Mine started out feeling like heartburn but then quickly progressed to a terrible pain in my chest. Like Alice mentioned it felt like I was short of breath and at the time I wondered if I was having a heart attack. The pain just radiated all through my chest around my side. After a while it would fade away.

I was in the ER TWICE before anyone got wise enough to check my gallbladder. They kept telling me it was just heartburn and I was fine. I was pregnant with my 3rd child and had the gallbladder removed 2 weeks after she was born.

I went to health services twice and got misdiagnosed and then went to the ER and they diagnosed it as an ovarian cyst...umm ok good to know but the pain ISNT DOWN THERE!!!
SO i was fine for about a month and then the pain came back in full swing.
They said since i am going home next week they would rather have my primary care physician take care of it and that there is no emergency.
I just hope I dont get an attack while on the plane because sitting down is unbearable...I need to get up and walk around.

Pain radiating my chest, shortness of breath, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, chills. Felt like a combination of a severe flu, food poisoning and a heart attack all at once.

I found it more comfortable walking around also. This will probably sound weird but sometimes it helped to lean over a chair or the couch.

I can see you now...making your 4th trip to the bathroom and the flight attendants jump you because they think you're up to something!:earseek: Good luck!!!

HAHAH well the last time I flew home I was throwing up the entire time because of antibiotics I was given for a UTI lol.
I managed to throw up in the barf bags on both flights and a garbage can in the terminal:rolleyes:

I am actually an AWFUL flyer and I HATE the idea of having to get out of my seat so an attack would be awful!

My symptoms were a constant (I mean for days/weeks on end)dull pain right under the rib cage on the right side, back right shoulder pain, stomach and intestional issues.

I had it out 3 yrs ago.

Well, I suffered from chronic gallbladder problems for over 4 years before they wised up and even looked to see if it was my gallbladder! I had chronic right side pain anywhere from just under my ribs down to the top of my hip bone. I would feel nauseated (sp, sorry) and often had vomiting as well. I was in and out of the ER over all that time with "chronic appendixcitis" before they finally tested my gallbladder. I had a long pencil shaped stone in the duct that was almost completly blocking it.

I am sorry to hear that you are still having problems Norah! But at least you will be home soon and it will get taken care of. Best of luck on your flight and with the doctors back home as well. Are you having it removed, or is that still undecided?

I actually have no idea what is going to happen.
When I went in on Monday they were concerned because the attack was lasting a lot longer and the symptoms were getting worse.
He said it could possibly be an ulcer and gave me Zantac to take for that but that he was leaning towards my gallbladder. There are tests they can't do in the ER so they want me to wiat until I go home. So i really dont even know 100% that it is my gallbladder.
I was fine yesterday with no attacks but I woke up with one today and have had 1 more since...so today should be interesting.

Prior to DW having gallstones, she had (let's put it nicely) wretched twice in her entire life. Let's just say that she has now been "sick" 5 times. Also, she continues to say that she felt like she was having a heart attack.

I had my gallbladder removed last month. My symptoms started when I was pregnant, about a year and a half ago! The symptoms got worse over time and towards the end(before surgery)I just couldn't take it anymore! My symptoms were nausea, lightheadedness, excrutiating mid back pain that started on the right side of my back, worked its way to my belly and up to my chest. I felt like I couldn't breath. I wasn't able to tolerate any dairy products, I would get diarrhea. Fatty fried foods would also trigger an attack. When I finally went to the Dr. he sent me to get an ultrasound, and sure enough I had stones. Turns out I had more than 6!!

Mmmmmm..interesting. I asked because I have been having discomfort under my rib cage on the right side but none of the other symptoms. I have a dr's appointment next month and will ask about it. Thanks for the info!

I'm bringing this back to life because for the past few days I have been dying! I seem to have alot of these symptoms but I get such a tight squeezing sensation on my insides that hurts!!! (does that make sense?). My back hurts alot when I exhale, but only during these "attacks". They last anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours. Does anyone else have that? I also found myelf bent over a chair last night and that was comfy! LOL
I noticed its happening about 20-30 minutes after I eat. I'm going to be more observant about that today and then I guess I'll call the Drs.
Any other weird symptoms you have noticed??
Thanks!
