Or we could do it like described above where everyone picks their own size and theme, but posts it for everyone to see. And then instead of sending books around for everyone to make pages for, each participant will make pages in the size/theme for each journal owner and send them all at once to the coordinator to sort and resend. Instead of it being a "Circle Journal" it could be a "Spokes Journal".
I kind of like this idea as my scrapbooks are the 12 x 12 size And I don’t think I can get a different size over here, but other people might have different sizes.
OH THAT would be SUPER!
If digi scrappers are part of the general circle journal group, the pages would need to be printed, in my opinion. It doesn't seem quite fair for the paper scrappers to send paper pages complete with embellishments and get a digital file in return which they would then have to pay to have printed in order to be useable in their scrapbooks.
I think in order for this to work - we need to agree on ONE size for all - and each person make ONE page or Pair of pages X times. Otherwise, it will become a nightmare for the coordinator.
The theme for this album is really the cruise, isn't it? So you have certain set things
you know will appear
Embarktion Day/Port Canaveral
Lifeboat Drill
Castaway Cay
Aruba
Panama Canal
Puntarenas
Manzanillo
Puerto Vallarta
Cabo San Lucas
Debarktion Day/Port of LA
Day at Sea
Pirate Night
Golden Mickeys
Prince & Princess
Mexicali
Captain's Gala
Animator's Palate
Parrot Cay
Tritons
or
FOOD
DEck Parties
Excursions
Ports of Call
Around the ship
Ah! Spa!
etc.
They're GORGEOUS - knocked MY socks off, that's for sure.
I agree that ideally it should all the same size, but it has to be a size that everybody can obtain. It is no problem trimming the paper to size for those having smaller albums, but I have only ever seen scrapbooks in the standard 12x12 size so this size would be ideal. I suppose the other option is to mount the pages on a blank page of the correct size. So if we are agreeing on a smaller size, can we at least make sure that it is square?
Once again, the cruise site is updated. Once again Disney has told me they still don't have schedules for the boat so they can't book the Wine M&G yet.
We added *another* room.
In any case, here's the deal for all FE people. I'm going to get the new and improved list up today on the site, and in a printable format. Don't go too overboard with printing it out. Once we're onboard, I'd like to have everyone at some point before we get to Castaway Cay stop by the room and check off that they are *ACTUALLY* on board. Then, at Castaway Cay I'll work with Concierge to get some copies printed out and will leave them in my FE. Then you can take a copy, use it for your run and return it. I'll also have a copy of the entire master list on my door.
I will make sure to stop by on the first night. I will print my own copy and amend it as necessary as I have a slightly different gift for the people that I have cruised with previously. Will your master list show the old and the new room numbers?
Ok, I lied. It took me a little bit of thinking about the problem, but I solved it. For those of you that care about SQL, here's the mathematically beautiful solution for Deck 8.
(select stateroom-9000 AS sort_col1, stateroom from staterooms where fishextender='1' and stateroom like '8%' and stateroom < '8200') UNION (select 9000-stateroom AS sort_col1, stateroom from staterooms where fishextender='1' and stateroom like '8%' and stateroom >= '8200') order by sort_col1
So now, the Fish list is by deck and you can just walk down one side and then back up the other with the same list. Enjoy.
Thanks for all your hard work on this. It is really appreciated.
Little Known Christmas Fact
Not long ago and far away, Santa was getting ready for his annual trip...but there were problems everywhere.
Four of his elves were sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.
Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More Stress. Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys. So, frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of coffee and a shot of whiskey. When he went to the cupboard, he found the elves had hidden the liquor and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he dropped the coffee pot and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the he kitchen floor.
He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw it was made from.
Just then the doorbell rang and Santa cussed on his way to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said: "Where would you like to put this tree Santa?"
And that my friends, is how the little angel came to be on top of the Christmas tree.
I needed this laugh today. I can so understand how Santa feels. Thanks for sharing.
I have read, here and on other sites, that they are no longer accepting US dollars in Mexico. Perhaps this is true in some places, but my TA (who is my sister) just came back from a Princess cruise to Mexico and she said she had no problem with paying with dollars last week.
Val
Again, thanks for sharing this. I do not intend to do much by the way of shopping away from the ship, but I am hoping to pick up a dress for Mexican night at Manzanillo. As this should be less than $100 anyway, this should hopefully not be a problem.
Its FRIDAY.............. 3 more night and 2 days to work then 8 mights off.
I got the train to work and couldnt resist going to look at the xmas lights.
Edinburgh is so so so pretty near christmas time.(as opposed to all other times when its just the coolest city ever

)
This looks so pretty. I am so sorry that because of all this moving to Dubai and then not moving after all, I never made it to Edinburgh before Christmas. I will have to pencil this in for next year.
Thought I'd dig a little more into this $ issue. Here is what I found.
Found this on a travel site dated 6-10
While traveler’s checks are still a safe method of changing money whilst traveling, it is worth noting that it can be hard to exchange checks and you typically incur charges or lower exchange rates than if you were to use your ATM card in a local bank cash machine. Also, in some areas, such as Mexico, there are virtually no facilities to cash traveler’s checks.
Exchanging Dollars for Pesos in Mexico
New Rules for Currency Exchange
By Suzanne Barbezat, About.com Guide
New US Dollar Exchange Regulations
In the past travelers to Mexico could use US dollars for most transactions, and many people didn't even bother to exchange their currency into pesos. With new laws in effect since September 2010, however, the use of US dollars in cash for making purchases is limited, and the sums exchanged at banks and currency exchange booths are restricted. These measures have been brought into effect to combat money laundering and organized crime, unfortunately tourists and legitimate businesses are also affected.
Official Statement:
"Mexico Banking System Cap on Exchange of Dollars for Pesos:
In order to regulate the quantity of dollars entering the Mexican banking system, beginning September 14, 2010, the Mexican government will cap the amount of dollars foreigners can exchange for pesos in Banks & Money Exchange Establishments to no more than US$1,500 per month.
The measure WILL NOT AFFECT purchases made with credit cards or debit cards in Mexico.
The measure WILL NOT AFFECT the amount of cash (in Mexican pesos) an international tourist can withdraw from an ATM machine on a daily or monthly basis.
It is recommended that all travelers bring Mexican pesos as well as their credit and/or debit cards to minimize any inconvenience the exchange cap at banks may cause."
Exchanging Dollars for Pesos
According to the new regulations, casas de cambio (currency exchange booths), banks and hotels may exchange a maximum of $1500 USD in cash per person per month into Mexican pesos. Many financial institutions are limiting this to exchange up to $300 USD in a single transaction, and some banks are currently refusing to exchange dollars. It may also be required to present an official identification when exchanging dollars for pesos.
Purchases Goods and Services
Businesses may accept a maximum of $100 USD in cash per transaction, with no restriction on the number of transactions per customer. However, many businesses are choosing to not accept US dollars at all. Likewise, many airlines within Mexico will only accept Mexican pesos and credit cards for payment of fees (such as baggage fees). The most convenient way to pay for purchases is to use a credit card or withdraw Mexican pesos from an ATM. It is not advisable to carry large amounts of cash.
Other Currencies Not Affected
It is important to note that these new regulations regarding currency exchange do not apply to other foreign currencies such as Euros and Canadian dollars, and forms of payment other than cash, such as credit cards and travelers checks, are not affected by these measures.
Recommendations:
If possible, exchange a small amount of currency to Mexican pesos before your departure. Take enough pesos to cover your expenses on arrival (tips to baggage handlers, taxi, etc.)
Pay with a credit card when possible.
Take a credit card or debit card for ATM cash withdrawals.
Thanks for all the information.
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to drop in to say "hi"
I'm the other half (the worser-half?!?!) of Trekygirl and can't wait for our PC cruise in just a few weeks!!
Welcome to the thread.
Happy Sat. cruisers...
Well I had a fun day yesterday... lol My DD decided it was too dangerous to go to the mexican riviera on our trip leaving tomorrow.

So... she cancelled all the reservations then called me to find a new place to go diving... at the last minute!

Since she is paying for the trip, I am at her mercy. We did end up booking to Grand Cayman. However it took all day to get things done and I am not packed. Today I need 48 hours crammed into 12. Pixie dust badly needed!

I haven't packed for the cruise yet either. I will get home from the Cayman trip on Dec 24 then have to go to Houston to work on the 27th, I'll have less than a day to pack! HELP! I hope whatever I throw into the suitcase will work...
Thinking the spa may be my first activity..

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas.....
What a stress. I hope that you will have a wonderful time.
Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Thanks for the day brightener!

Hang tough, Babe! The situations will all resolve themelves given time. Remember to eat right and drink lots of water. Obviously you're not sleeping well, but try to rest. These things won't help your daughter directly, but it will help you be stronger to support her and get done what you need to get done.
Baked cookies yesterday. House guest isn't coming, so now I need to pack and mail cookies to her. (Long sad story) Must decide today whether I'm shipping a box to the ship or schlepping it with me. Shoulder is still painful so concerned about managing the luggage. DH & I 41st anniversary today. Other than that, it's quiet around here.
Hope you all have a good day!
I wish you a belated Happy Anniversary.
The weather, bloomin hell its snowing AGAIN, most of our airports are shut again, Granny M, is it just me or are you starting to have a slightpanic on about this situation? Are we the only ones from the uk on this board?
MMouse was coming too?
I am still coming. At least I am hoping so. We are starting to get a bit nervous with all this weather-related chaos. It does not help either that we cannot fly out until January 5th. I just hope that all of this has blown over by then. So far we have been OK here in Manchester, but it looks like there is some nasty weather heading our way before the end of the week. Well, I rather have it now then when I have to travel.
Still cloudy and rainy up here, too. Alan, wish your folks a Happy Anniversary. Sorry we won't get to meet your mom. Glad you liked TRON - our kidlet liked it and DH is planning on seeing it on the cruise.
Today's excitement: at 9:28 am, we heard a BIG bang and the house had one sharp jolt.

Turns out that there was a magnitude 3.1 quake just 1.39 miles from our house. Wow! We've never been that close to an epicenter before. Didn't even know there was a fault at that location. Fortunately, no one seems to be hurt, and nothing fell off the shelves at nearby stores. If you were in a car, you didn't feel it - as Goofprincess reported. (For those of you familiar with our area, the epicenter was right behind Rancho Shopping Center in Los Altos.) I am happy to have small earthquakes, rather than one like the Loma Prieta quake of 1989, which caused part of the Bay Bridge to collapse, etc.
Des, hope you were able to find homes for the puppies. I'd love to have another dog, but until I stay home for any length of time, it's not feasible.
Goofprincess's son's wedding was wonderful. We had such a good time. I'll let the "mother of the groom" fill everyone in on the details.
I am glad that everybody is OK. I remember that date in 1989. I was away on a training course for some voluntary work that I was doing at the time. We had heard about this earth quake and met up at the beginning of the evening to watch the news. Of course something had happened since that took over the news. The president of East Germany had resigned and this was seen as a massive sign of hope. This turned out to be the case and less then a year later the East and West Germany had become one unified country.
Just checked the latest info on Heathrow - 10 hours ago posting - says no flights until tomorrow. We're worried about our friend who is supposed to leave London Tuesday morning. She has a lay-over here at SFO - on her way to New Zealand - so I am planning (hoping) to get to spend Wednesday with her. However, from what I'm reading, it's doubtful she will get out. Sigh. Poor thing - she really needs this vacation.
I hope all the UK members of the cruise stay safe and warm!
At the moment, Heathrow is operational, but people are discouraged from going to Terminal 1 and 3 as too many people are there already. They finally opened up the second runway after only having one runway operational since the airport reopened to some extend on Sunday. Airlines have been told that up until Wednesday morning they are only allowed to operate up to 1/3 of their scheduled services and further snow is expected. I just hope that this does not materialize

47. I don’t know where the 1 came from.
I love the name tags.
On a personal note...one of the pups went to a new home!
We still have two of them and so we will have them for the next week at which point - they will go to a different foster home if not adopted. I was very excited she was adopted and still hoping for the other two. Would love for them to be CHristmas puppies! Thanks for everyone's good wishes. I just worry about them so much...as thou they were my own.
Well done for finding a new hope for one of the pups. I keep my fingers crossed that the others will find a new home before Christmas, too.
Well things here are not all going according to plan.
I work for an airline and we had complete and utter chaos over the weekend with all the airports south of here closed on Saturday and the biggest airport in the UK (Heathrow) still being closed yon Sunday and operating on a severely reduced capacity since. We had aircrafts bound for the UK diverted all over Europe. On Sunday all airports that we fly to apart from Heathrow were open again, but did not accept diverts. So half way into the flight, we had to turn two flights around and return to Dubai. This just so happened on a weekend when we were short-staffed anyway and had high sickness as well. On Saturday, I was the only supervisor after 6PM. On Sunday I was supposed to be the only supervisor after 3:30PM, but one of the early shift supervisors stayed on and one of the Business Services supervisors came up to help us out as well. I repayed the favour yesterday when I stayed until closing time and helped business service to contact customers to tell them that they were now flying from a different airport! What really got me was how some of our customers behaved. I had people screaming at me, cursing me and calling me every name under the sky. I can understand that people are angry, upset and frustrated, but does not give them the right to speak to my staff and me the way they did. After all, this was not our doing. What really got me was that there was a spokesperson from the company that operates Heathrow on the TV yesterday morning trying to shift the blame for the utter chaos to the airlines. Apparently it was the airlines' responsibility to keep their customers informed. Well, I don't know about other airlines, but I would have loved to keep my customers informed. The trouble was that we had no information to give as the airport did not keep us informed in the first place. What little information we had came from the media and that was contradictory. And don't even get me started on that the airport at some stage told us that they might give us approval for one aircraft that had been stuck there since Saturday morning to leave at 3:00 AM Monday morning, but then told us that the people working security, passport control and customs would go off duty at 10:00 PM and everybody would need to be processed (and presumably on the aircraft) before then. When we closed at 8:30 PM on Sunday, we still had no confirmation that they would give their final approval for the flight to go ahead. So we were looking at a scenario that an Airbus would go back to Dubai empty while we have thousands of people stranded in the UK. I was supposed to have an admin day yesterday to do some call monitoring for my team today and that has been cancelled. Because of other things going on this quarter, I have only 35% of my call monitoring done. I am supposed to have another admin day tomorrow, but I assume that will be cancelled, too. I have asked for this to be rescheduled before the end of the year, but I am not optimistic. As my staff won't get their bonus if I have not handed in my end of quarter paperwork i ncluding the call monitoring scoresbefore I go on my cruise, I am probably looking at going into work for unpaid overtime over New Year. I was supposed to have 4 days off and I had earmarked them for all the last minute cruise preparations, packing, etc.
OK, rant over. I had today off and finished my Christmas shopping. I am still waiting for Graham's main present to arrive in the mail. I ordered him a waterproof digital camera. His Christmas presents are having a distinct cruise/ vacation theme. I have to wrap a couple of his stocking fillers tomorrow and then I am all done for Christmas.
I also finally got started on my Fish Extender gifts. The last components arrived on Monday, but to my horror I discovered on Saturday that I had somehow mislaid one of the components that arrived earlier. So I reordered this. Fortunately this has two parts to it and I have all the materials to do the tricky and time consuming part. I have this part done for 60 of them. I will try to finish this off tomorrow morning before I head to work and hopefully the bit that I had to reorder will arrive tomorrow or Thursday and then I am still on track to finish them over Christmas.
I also have nearly all the supplies for the jewellery workshops now and have started to put together the kits. Over the next couple of days, I will make examples of the projects and post photos here.
