We're using Hertz and staying at the Residence Inn. Haven't done the Hertz drop-off before, but the Residence Inn is nice. :cool2:

Is the Hertz car drop off place at the Residence Inn too? I believe it is at one of the hotels, which would make things easier.

Residence inn IS nice - that's where we stayed last cruise. But the Hertz drop off is closer to the Radisson, which is why I chose that hotel in preference. I guess it really doesn't matter, though because Hertz has a shuttle that should take you back to the hotel.

Thank you.:thumbsup2

Welcome back. Hope you had a good trip. It looked like you got about quite a bit.

We had a nice trip. Yes, got about a lot - 3 weeks in England/Scotland and one week in Rome & Naples. Tiring, but fun (I think the longest we stayed in one place was 5 days). Glad to be home again. Now I need a vacation to recover. Oh hang on, we have one in January that should be more relaxing :thumbsup2

Oh, I didn't realise the hertz shuttle ferried you to hotels. I guess hotel guests need car rental sometimes.

We have never stayed at the port the night before the cruise. i think I would like to try it sometime. Is the Radisson the best place? We usually drive down on the day and drop the car off at Budget and get their transfers. Do the hotel buses work well? We like to get to the terminal early.
Some say they work well, others say no, last time we stayed at holiday inn there was a shuttle, but I dropped everybody off then returned car and got budget to drop us of, i HAVE THE RADDISON AT PORT BOOKED, i ALSO HAVE THE SHUTTLE BOOKED so still undecided.
But I am really looking forwrd to the raddison.
You guys have been chatty again. No surprises there.

Arrived back in the USA yesterday. Have emails to catch up on, laundry to do, a month's worth of mail to go through and what am I doing? Yes, I am catching up on the DIS :lmao::lmao: (Can you say addicted!!)

Hurrah! Congratulations.

If you want any help or suggestions, just ask. We are plenty of us in California who can give help and suggestions.

Hope you all had a great time! What fun.

I did offer to set up a group buy for certificates. I will start looking at that once I have settled back into real life. Probably won't send out an email about this until after PIF date so that numbers are stable. We can do one order with one additional amendment order (from what I understand) so the order needs to be right!

If you want some Stargate we have that. Also, not sci-fi, but mad british humour - Blackadder. Just shout if you would like us to bring some.

Thanks Melissa, I did get your pm, but apologies, because I got caught up in our trip. Back home now and catching up. Will get back to you directly soon.

I think I have a room at the Radisson (not sure now, I booked it months ago) booked for 2 nights before the cruise, but may just end up staying in our vacation home near to WDW. I would like to stay at the port just once, but it may not be this time. We will see.

Also :welcome: to all the cruisers who have joined in the past few weeks. Look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome home, were staying 2 nights as well.

Based on Google maps, Budget is closer to the Radisson. Hertz looks to be right next door to the Residence Inn.
Hertz is 8963 Astronaut Blvd. Residence Inn is 8959 Astronaut Blvd. Looks like they even share part of the parking lot.

I believed Hertz moved their location a couple of years ago.

That would be so handy wouldn't it?

yup, you're right. Enterprise is where Hertz used to be. Phooey. Residence in is more expensive, but I might move, based on that.

Marilyn,

I noticed in your signature that you have both the Altantic crossing cruise and the Panama one....are you doing both? If so, I'm so jealous! We had booked the April Atlantic cruise but I cancelled it because I was unsure of finances, since my son decided he wanted to go to NYC for college....

I'd love to hear all about the Atlantic Crossing cruise, thinking of doing that next year.....

Yes we are doing both, unless something stops us from doing this one!! There are 3 groups doing both that I know of. Us, Orlandothebeagle and Valbob. We didn't know each other till we started chatting on the TA thread. The TA cruises are quite good value for DCL cruises. I'm a little worried about weather and sea conditions in the Atlantic, but I'm committed now so it won't have to matter.:rotfl2:

I agree on the 'good value' comment. I have an Eastern booked for 12/11 and for giggles and grins, looked at the eastbouth TA and son of a gun - it is less expensive! But, DH would never do that and I don't get that much vacation time anyway so it is out for next year.

Hope everyone is doing well - another weekend is upon us. YIPPEE!!

When we looked at the ta price we werent really serious as we had priced a pc cruise a few years ago and couldnt afford it, when we checked it out we booked it in a jiffy.

I just COULD not resist this pc as it will be my 40th, if I have to take the pain I need some gain!:lmao:

How did I not know vala n bob are doing this cruise too, Im so thick sometimes:upsidedow

We were as well doing the TA in a few weeks but had to cancel. Oh well. Maybe one day we will do it.

Jeff, for the events and for us Lakers Fans, can you put up on the site the Lakers and Dallas on ESPN on the 19th of Jan.

Hey SmartieWDW. I was just reading and I thought inshoukd tell you this. A very good friend of mine used to work the Great Movie Ride when she was in the College Program. It is so hard for her not to do the script when she goes on it.

Hehe, I'm the exact same way, to the point that it's sometimes frustrating if you get less than great tour guides, and you realize when they're cutting stuff or don't know their fillers very well. But isn't that the same of any industry you work in?

Thanks for the e-mail after the fact Jeff ;-) I fully appreciate it lol. It's probably a good chance for me to make introductions and so forth.

We have always enjoyed the tastings , especially the tequila tasting, and plan to enjoy them on this cruise too. See you there.:thumbsup2

You know, I don't know what this says about me... But I forgot to mention one of my favorite parts about this ship. I celebrated my 21st birthday on this ship! And I have a a really neat story about it, and Disney going above and beyond that I'll share later. But as far as the tastings go, I love it because it's quite possibly one of the best deals for liquor that Disney will give...especially since you can normally win an extra drink or two (especially martini tasting) if you know you're stuff.

Oh, one more thing...Kay, did you get my PM way back in early July? I have been working on getting lessons for you, but I need some direction on where you want to go. I created a matter unit last year (designed specifically for CA 5th grade standards), that I would be happy to pass on to you. I also have a weather one, not to mention the MILLIONS of lessons we have done for Disney over the last two years (those all have an environmental focus)...Or, I can just send miscellaneous stuff. Just let me know what you need:goodvibes

~Melissa

Melissa - i will have a 5th grader and would be very interesting in the CA standards you created.

PIF this Friday - still showing GTY status on my stateroom - got ressie released from TA - have done brunch at Palo in the back room - it was really fun!

Gotta book my pre-cruise room somewhere at the port - will try for the DIS posted CI&S priceline deal if not, I will book the Radisson.

Oh, thanks for the reminder Alan. I'll make sure we're all wearing our Mavs shirts that day! :thumbsup2

Well, our Little League team advanced to the World Series. We don't know any of the boys but it still neat to have the local boys go!!!

So who am I going to meet at all of the wine/beer etc. tastings????:thumbsup2

I'm guessing my DH will be interested in these too.

Welcome to all the new travelers!:flower3:

I'm waiting to hear if the couple going with us are backing out or not. They've had a rough few months and are trying to get things on track before our PIF date. We currently have two cabins (cat. 7A) next to each other and if they cancel I'm trying to decide if we should downgrade to a cat. 9A GTY and take our chances and see what we get. I guess if we didn't like our assignment we could maybe try to pay for an upgrade at the port. Any thoughts from those more experienced cruisers?

We stayed at the Radison in Jan and were not impressed. The shuttle was a mess they did not go by times and we gave up after waiting 45 min and took a cab $7 but this was when both the Magic and Carnival Dream were there it might be different when the Wonder is the only ship there. In Oct we are on the Carnival Dream and will stay at Reaidence Inn and use Hertz to take us to the port.
