From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 3

we have stayed at the Radisson several times with no problems. However, there were no other cruise ships. I can see how there might be problems if they were trying to shuttle to more than one cruiseline. There were a ton of people waiting for the shuttle, but it was organized and there were two shuttles running when we stayed. Maybe we need to check the port schedule and make sure the Wonder is the only ship leaving from PC on Jan. 6???

We stayed at the Radison in Jan and were not impressed. The shuttle was a mess they did not go by times and we gave up after waiting 45 min and took a cab $7 but this was when both the Magic and Carnival Dream were there it might be different when the Wonder is the only ship there. In Oct we are on the Carnival Dream and will stay at Reaidence Inn and use Hertz to take us to the port.

Let me know how that works. We're using Hertz as well - do they have separate shuttles from the Residence Inn? Which would be the better choice?

I'm guessing my DH will be interested in these too.

Welcome to all the new travelers!:flower3:

I'm waiting to hear if the couple going with us are backing out or not. They've had a rough few months and are trying to get things on track before our PIF date. We currently have two cabins (cat. 7A) next to each other and if they cancel I'm trying to decide if we should downgrade to a cat. 9A GTY and take our chances and see what we get. I guess if we didn't like our assignment we could maybe try to pay for an upgrade at the port. Any thoughts from those more experienced cruisers?

The rule of downgrades is to only downgrade if you are willing to accept the category you've downgraded to. You can't count on upgrades being available at the port.

That said, at this time our cruise has availability in most categories.

Hertz is a free shuttle the residence Inn is not but It is just a few dollars. We are picking up the car at 1030am and return it 1030am the next day. We can use it to eat dinner and go around Cocoa Beach and then drop it off after we drop luggage at the pier. Residence Inn has a free breakfast the Radison does not. We just were not impressed with Radison and can get a good rate for a 1 bed room.

Cool - I think I'll be returning our car at about the same time, so we may see you there.

I'm trying to remember if I've ever stayed at the Radisson. Might have on our first cruise. Wherever it was, I wasn't overwhelmed by it - but as I recall there was a grad-night nearby so lots of teens and noise that night (not the hotels' fault).

As for the Residence Inn - I was there just last year. It was very nice (hard to go wrong with a Marriott). :cool2:

Well I just saw the expendabales. I enjoyed it much more than I thought. Yes there really is no story, but after the last few weeks it was good to see some good old fashioned death and destruction. High body count, but just fun to watch. Tomorrow night off to see Scott Pilgram VS. The World.

We've stayed at the Radisson several times - the shuttle has always worked well for us. One stay, they did have to move us to a new room because there was a surfing convention which took over our whole floor in the farthest corner of the hotel. They compt'd us too, so that was ok.

Hertz has it's own shuttle, which is free. Residence inn's shuttle costs $6 per person. Radisson's shuttle is free, but it's necessary to sign up for the time you want in advance. The times we've stayed there, Breakfast has been free.

The t-shirts are almost done. Just waiting on zazzle to process them. Here's the image

I will continue working on getting the store done. Also, I know the prices suck, but there really isn't much I can do to bring them down. Also, since I can't tell the store to not let me make ANY money, anything that is made will be donated to Give Kids the World.

7:00 P.M. Here in LA.

Two events added to the Calendar for Cabo Day (1/19)

# 7:00PM - Dallas Mavericks "BEAT LA!" Fan Gathering - Aft Half of Diversions
# 7:00PM - LA Lakers "BEAT DALLAS!" Fan Gathering - Forward Half of Diversions

Oh, and just as a reminder, yes I know it has changed a little bit from the original image. I did make sure all of the changes were OK with the original designer and I am taking absolutely no credit at all for any of this. I know some people (in the world, not necessarily in this thread) get touchy about these kinds of things. Just want to nip that in the bud before it gets started.

I will be in my Lakers shirt that day. Want to bet some drinks on who will win and who will lose.:rolleyes1
How about a one drink bet with you only? Don't wanna go broke :lmao:! I'm sure I'll be in the minority and I'll be the first to admit the Mavs don't usually do well against the Lakers.

Sounds good. Doesn't look like we have many cruisers from the Dallas area but quite a few from LA. We have early dining so DH and I will most likely be able to make it to support the Mavs (as long as DS will go to the kids club)! Also hoping to catch some Cowboy playoff games during the cruise too.

But you do have the buffet side :)

Well that's good! We never made it to Diversions on our other cruise so I have no idea how everything is set up. However, with this game, NFL playoffs, and the BCS championship game, I'm sure we'll frequent there this cruise :goodvibes

Until the Packers knock them out :lmao: - sorry, couldn't resist (we're shareholders :goodvibes)

Gee, Thanks! :goodvibes At least we can say that the Cowboys have had their day unlike the other sports teams in the area! But it's about time they start doing more. Cowboys football has been in my life as long as I can remember. Every Sunday, every Thanksgiving - the house better be quiet come time for the Cowboys. And if they lost, we knew not to even say anything to my dad and uncles. One of my uncles had an entire room dedicated to the Cowboys and when he passed away, some of his Cowboy attire went with him. After I left home, I didn't even want a football game on in the house for a few years I had seen so much of it. But after a few years break, I realized just how much I missed it and look so forward to the start of football season! Sometimes I have almost as much fun watching teams like the Eagles, Redskins, Giants lose (against any team) as I do watching the Cowboys win. Nothing personally against those places but if you're a fan of those teams, I'm sure you dislike the Cowboys just as much :goodvibes

Even though we've moved away from Dallas, we still follow the sports teams of the area. I can't really get into the Texans, the Astros, the Rockets. I mean, I can watch them and root for them (as long as they aren't playing on the Dallas teams) but I'm not disappointment if they don't do well either. We lived in NO for a few years and it was nice watching the Saints win the Super Bowl but again, wouldn't have been disappointed if they lost.
