We're planning on going to the extra magic morning hours at Magic Kingdom. We had planned on taking the boat there but now I read on another forum that there is no boat transportation to MK for extra morning hours. Is this right? Need help on confirming if we will have to take the bus. How about coming back from Magic Kingdom when it is open for extra hours past midnight?

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure if the boats run late for extra hours past midnight, I don't believe they do.

When we were there in Aug. we rode the boat back at 2 a.m., they told us they run 1/2 hr. after MK closes (even after EMH)
Also, I thought they did run for AM EMH (1/2 hr before). The only time I haven't been able to catch the MK boat was when we had a 7 a.m. CM ADR and the park didn't open until 9. So we took the Cont. boat.

So we can take the boat for the early morning hours but we shouldn't plan to return on the boat after the evening hours.

We'll be going to MK on Dec 30th and our plan was to go to the early morning hours then return to the Fort around noon. We'll return for our 530pm reservations at Crystal Palace and stay until the park closes at 3a.

Hmmm, we might have to do some serious planning. Especially since the parks will be crowded. What do you think?

If MK is having EMH the boats will run. I've ridden them at 0300 before. They will keep coming back as long as people are on the dock. I'm sure ot goes to one boat after the crowd thins down.

I'm pretty sure Disney won't leave you stranded anywhere.

Beware of what you read on other forums. For ACCURATE FW info, you must ask here. Despite the fact that many of us are clowns, the info we give out is generally accurate and up to date.

Man, imagine riding a boat in the early morning hours on a cold winter night.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Forgot about the temperature in the early hours of the morning. Maybe it will be worthwhile to drive to MK for early morning hours and come back at lunch on the boat. We'll return to MK for dinner on the boat. And, at 3am when we are ready to go home, we'll have the car waiting for us.

Maybe this is making more sense??? Your thoughts please.

When we went in May of this year, the boat was NOT running to MK for early EMH. The boat to MK started 1/2 hour before normal MK opening times. The work around is to take the boat to the contemporary, then take the walkway to Mk. Just out of curiousity, where will you park when you drive to MK?

Been there done that, bought the coat!

There is nothing like that early morning boat ride to MK on a cold and frosty morning! Especially when it is just me and my wife on the boat.

If the smaller boats are running to the Contemporary, take that instead of the larger boats that stop at the Wilderness Lodge first. You can get to the Magic Kingdom much faster that way. Its only a 3 minute walk from the CR to the front gate.

You and me both! I love when it's cold on the boat rides, just makes Disney feel so alive to me. So much time is spent at Disney in the heat, it's nice when you get to experience it in the cold.

And yes, if you don't mind the walk, it's sometimes nice to just go to the Contemporary and walk over to the Magic Kindom in the mornings. You can always jump on the monrail on your way back (first stop) if you don't feel like making the return walk. And nothing beats that walk on a cold morning, gets you all prepped up for a walk in the park (pun intended ;) )!

As close to the gate as possible at the MK lot! The parking lots should be open at that time hopefully.

I really like the idea of taking the boat if the small boat will take us to the Contemporary early am.

Any body know where I can get a schedule of start and close times for the boats during December/January?

Not sure about a schedule, but, I think they start running about 1 hour before the restaurants open for breakfast. Otherwise, you would miss your ressies.

I am sure there are others out there that know for sure.

The parking lot is probably open, but you won't get to park close to the MK gate. The MK parking lot is all the way across the lake at the Ticket and Transportation Center (aka TTC). Anyone arriving by car has to either ride the ferry or the monorail to the park entrance. :flower3:

The MK is about the only park that we would never consider driving to.
