Free MagicBand slide for AP holders

We have PAP. I see nothing about "Affiliation Disney Passholder." I have looked at our passes as well as upcoming reservations with MB's to customize.

When you click on "MagicBands and Cards" in MDE, there is nothing at the top to customize MagicBands? When do your APs expire?

I am on my iPad if that is a problem. Our passes expire in December. I am calling MDE help now.

On my iPad in the MDE App, when I click on "MagicBands and Cards" I get an option to click to go to the website and customize the AP MagicBands there.

A question for anyone who's gone using AP Magic Bands linked to their reservations: were you able to schedule FP times more than 30 days in advance using your AP bands linked to your room reservation, or was the system only allowing you to make them 30 days out?

... not that I actually know which parks we're going to which days or what I want to go on before I step inside the gate. Advance ride reservations don't really click with me :rotfl:

My timing with setting up our MDE account / reservations / AP magic bands keeps hitting the days the programmers are rolling their changes up to live and it's had some odd effects to our reservations and bands. Just wondering how I can expect this all to work come May 1st.

The problem for me is with the App on my ipad. Thanks to the CM I spoke to, I see all of the information, including I am a Annual Passholder on the computer. I do not know why, but my Ipad app has a few "problems."

At any rate, I just customized with the AP designation. I have plenty more reservations this year, so, I should have the slide for some of them.

Thank you for starting this thread! I've learned a lot!

I just went to MDE and was able to customize my AP band. I'm confused though, What's the purpose of this???:confused3 I thought the idea was to have your room key and ticket media all loaded on the same band.

There is nothing unique about the actual MagicBand issued to passholders. The primary purpose of the order is so those passholders that don't stay on-property can get theirs. All 'active' MagicBands that are assigned to an individual can be used interchangeably.

Ohhh that makes sense, thank you for the quick response Michael!

Also, there isn't anything loaded into a band at all. All bands you have ever used on any trip and not manually deactivated should be interchangeable in future visits.

System glitches sometimes, but thus far we have five sets of bands from various trips that can all be used interchangeably.

Jean, I am so glad I read this thread as I hadn't looked in the bottom of my AP band boxes either and didn't realize there was an AP discount card there. Luckily I had put the boxes up out of the way and hadn't thrown anything away yet! :)

You are correct. The way I've been explaining it to folk is:

Think of the Magic Band like a key to a door.
That door opens into your account in the system, like a 'room' containing your stay, dining and FP+ reservations, as well as your park pass. There is no info on the band itself, but, it still functions like a key so it still needs to be protected just as you would your room key or a credit card. If you loose it, it can be deactivated easily.

Just like there may be multiple keys that all open the same door. You can have multiple magic bands that are all linked back to your account: blue, pink, orange... (* I have not tried this yet but am told it works). Your physical pass card, while they still have them, still works. It too is linked to your account, and should be able to retrieve your FP+ reservations, however if it is linked to the rest of your reservations, I am unclear.

I just received mine, so fun.
I want to get all the colors of bands.....and hope they add some others, like purple and black

I would to see new colors too. I have 5 right now. Every color except gray and orange. A black one would be nice. My dh and I have a total of 10 right now. I know I could customize my oct 2014 ones but holding out for new color choices

Decorative. Also, if you put it on the part of the band that overlaps, it will help to insure that the band does not pop open and fall off. I am also hoping that when I buy things that are eligible for an AP discount, CMs might notice the slide when I tap to pay and ask for my AP ID. I often forget to ask for the AP discount.

I wasn't going to order the AP bands because we too have too many from this past year, but your point about the AP slider reminding you and the clerks of discounts is a good point.

For some reason mine came in two boxes, three bands total. Only two had the sliders. Mine was alone and without one.

I thought mine had come without the slider but it was caught up in the packing materials in a gap. Did you check there? It's a gap in the cardboard insert that holds the bands.

My DH's just came and no slide....I checked the entire box...I hope when mine arrives, it has it...

Were the boxes both blue passholder boxes? It's possible they packed yours wrong, and so wouldn't have had the slide.

we just got ours and the sliders are in the slot that the MBs are stuck in.

I'm greedy. Got our AP sliders... now I want DVC sliders, lol
