Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

I know!!!!! I get so frustrated when I see things available to the Disney Visa members (i.e. first crack over free dining). I wonder why it's not available for canadians. Maybe we could start a petition......

I agree! We can't get a Disney VISA, we get emails about contests/sweepstakes only available to Americans, etc. Argh! :headache: I'll sign that petition! :thumbsup2

This is all about MONEY....
If you charge your trip to a Disney VISA, then pay interest (as most, but not all, do...), they make MORE money....
They definitely want to offer it first to the ones they have the greatest chance of making more money on....
(luckily they get NOTHING more from us...paid in full;)

BUT it IS a bummer that you can't even GET the card...they are LOSING money...fools...(I'm sure it has to do w/ regulations and laws...)

I put this in the online conversion chart. The online one must be converting wrong . Hmmm I was thinking something was off. Indeed it must be

When we were at Disney in 2007 they had a little kiosk set up at DTD and the lady there said that the Disney Visa would soon be available in Canada. I don't remember the time frame but I seem to remember soon after that. Obviously THAT was shelved.

I think just the more popular rooms sell out. I was booking value in 07 and i remember POP & Movies were sold out first. Then music... and last was sports.

Thats the way it always books out. Followed by Pop Century preferred them A.S. preferred.
I can't count the number of times I've heard "We dont have any rooms available at that price for that rate... But I AM showing a PREFERRED room at......."

In 2007 they sold out of POP room early and upgraded some people to SSR 1 bedrooms.I was one of them.

OMG you are so lucky!!! That had to be a great moment for you. I hope that I could be so lucky on our next trip.:thumbsup2

Question:
I already booked our trip for a Disney Halloween this year. My trip includes room, park hopper, ddp, vacation ins and a 40% off room code. If my some miracle a better deal or free dining comes available will i loose any part of my deposit for rebooking? I am mainly wondering about the vacation ins since it's nonrefundable. Essentially i wouldn't be looking for a refund just a change in the reservation. Does this make sense?

You wouldn't lose anything. I remember asking my awesome travel agent about this scenario last year - you don't lose your deposit, the money is just put onto your new reservation. HTH! :goodvibes

OK...can you clarify something for me?? We are booked for AKL in Sept. Based on your post, it looks like I can call 90 days in advance of our arrival date and book ADRs for all 10 nights of our stay?

I was thinking the +10 meant that we could call in 10 days earlier than those staying off property...so in effect, we could call in at 100 days for each night we wanted a ressie. I like your way so much better!!! ;)

That's right! :thumbsup2 It is very handy, instead of having to call every day for 10 days.

In 2007 they sold out of POP room early and upgraded some people to SSR 1 bedrooms.I was one of them.

Did you know about that before you left, or did you find out when you went to check in?

Why is it that some people were told there were preferred rooms available, and that it was their only choice, and others were just upgraded (I assume it was complimentary?) Did they just overbook it?

Yes we found out by reading the boards the people were getting calls offereing upgrades in May. I called and since one of our ressies had a pin attached they were able to upgrade all 4 of our rooms. We each got a 1 br at SSR. I was great! $80 a night and free dining!!!

Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I'm a Canadian hoping to get FD in early December. Is this only offered to people with Disney VISA?

Last yr was the 1st yr DIsney offered FD in Dec & it was only offered to Disney Visa holders. Generally FD is offered to the general public for the month of Sept. Keep on eye on these boards, as we are all awaiting the FD announcement sometime in the next couple of wks.

Thats ok I see on the UK website that their packages are about 1000.00 cheaper than the U.S. How can that be ? Is that right?

I read somewhere here on the boards that is the quick service dining plan not the TS and QS plan.

I disagree. You say to be there at rope drop, yet avoid am EMH. :confused3 Wouldn't it be better if they were actually in the park already at rope drop? If you can get up early enough, take advantage of am EMH. Most people find it easier to stay up late than wake up early. That is why pm EMH are always much busier than am EMH. The unofficial guide doesn't suggest am EMH because it's assumed that the average person won't get up early enough to enjoy them. If you are not average and can swing it, then do it......You will get a lot of touring out of the way early. P.S. I would avoid pm EMH.
We have 2 littles one ages 7 and 4. In addition to going to the parks at opening each visit we have gone to MK for the evening only (parade & fireworks) and plan to sleep in the next AM. In September we happened to do this during PM-EMH. The park was open until 12 and there were no lines. We loved it.

Quick question- me and my df already have a trip booked for the first week of september...we had booked the vacation on my credit card bc i had the disney visa. When free dining becomes available....i wont have time that morning to call and change my ressie bc i cannot call in sick to work....can i just book another trip online with his credit card in his name? and then cancel mine?
