Oh my gosh, just reading this thread makes me dizzy. I get motion sick at the drop of a hat, seriously... in the bathtub, in swimming pools, in the ocean. Boats KILL me. I have to take Bonine to take the ferry boat or small water shuttles at Disney. I "boat" only when I absolutely have to (like taking a ferry over to Islesboro to visit friends) and then only well stocked with motion sickness meds!

With some annoying Vertigo bothering me lately, I agree with you. Being on a boat would probably not be good! :crazy2:
Yeah, I've noticed vertigo being a problem as I age. I don't remember ever having a problem with it early in life, but it comes up again and again lately. I'm sure a boat would be a nightmare if the water was rough.

Never owned a boat and never would. I live in a fairly urban area where the closest water is small ish lakes and reservoirs. Also like a few others, I get motion sickness so boats are not a mode of transport I favour!

My uncle had a boat for awhile. It was just too expensive, so he didn’t have it long. I enjoy boat trips.

My wife's stepfather had a boat, a camper and a swimming pool. When we got married, my wife made it clear that she had no interest in any of those in our life. She enjoyed them all but felt they were all more work and expense than they were worth. I have family who owned boats, so we have had access to a bot about a dozen times in 43 years, we have rented motor homes three times, and we are one of the few houses on our street without a pool. So far, I don't think we have missed out on anything.

My family owned a ski boat when I was younger and we had a lot of fun on it. We did not own/rent a dock so we had to trailer it to/from the lake every time we went out. It was a substantial amount of work (and even more for my parents, I'm sure.)

I really enjoyed the boat, but unless I had a lakehouse or something where I could dock it, I don't think I'd be interested in owning one.

My sister *does* have a lakehouse and a pontoon boat that is powerful enough to ride a tube behind. That is a lot of fun.

I think having a friend or family member with a boat is the "sweet spot."

I do not have a boat, but I do keep saying that I want to buy a kayak at some point.

We have kayaks. I grew up boating and jet skiing and sailing and such, on the lake and ocean. When I was about 13 or 14, my uncle made all of the cousins around my age take a boating coarse and gave us both written and practical exams. Right now, we just have kayaks that live up at the lake, but I'd like to some here, too, to use in the marsh.

I get motion sick on rides and in the car, but I have never experienced it on a boat.

I personally have only owned an inflatable yellow raft boat. Mainly got it for the kids to enjoy when they were younger. Had a few relatives and friends with various types of boats. One uncle in particular was really into boating. I don’t remember a time when he didn’t own one.

I've never owned a boat, and I doubt I'd even consider it unless I had money to burn and lived on the water.

Never owned a boat and no interest. A few people at work seemed all excited when they first get their boat and then realize how costly it is to maintain/use/store and all of the upkeep required. A few years later those same people were all excited when they finally sold their boat.

Someone in our group at work owned a sailboat and wanted to show it off to us. The first time we went out there was no wind, so it seemed rather pointless. We tried again a few months later and it was so windy the boat seemed like it was about to tip over and you had to hang on so you didn't fall into the water. None of us had any interest after that.

I have never owned a boat. My dad has had a small bass master type fishing boat most of my life. We have started talking about where we would like to retire and are leaning towards a lake house. If we are to do that DH would probably get a small boat for fishing.

Never owned a boat, never wanted one. We have some friends who used to own one, a couple times we went out on a lake for a party. They sold it a loooooong time ago, from what I hear they are money pits.

This is our backyard 😍. Wakeboarding and kneeboarding this morning, jet skis going out this afternoon. In between, my son and his friend spent a little time paddling on the kayaks. Love the summertime. 😃☀️
