I know FD hasn't been released and may or may not be released this spring but just have a quick question in case it does.

How does booking a FD package work when purchasing FL resident tickets? Can you still qualify with a ticketless reservation? I know you can call and purchase the dining plan as a ticketless reservation but don't know how it would work with FD.

Has anyone done this?

Usually the FD comes with a package that includes a resort stay with accompanying park tickets. December 2015 had to include park hoppers as well.
But of course, it's Disney, so anything could change. But the changes usually give Disney the advantage.

Free dining requires the purchase of tickets. I would assume though that you can just purchase the minimum ticket required (which I think is a 2 day ticket) and then use that ticket toward the purchase of the FL resident ticket.

Yup, you buy the required tickets. I just save mine in my MDE with a phantom name so they don't get used. Then I use their value toward the renewal of my AP. OR when DH has gone on some trips we use the tickets for him.

FD promotions require the purchase of tickets by everyone in the room 3 years and older. The most recent FD special required a minimum of 2 day tickets with either parkhopper or WP&M add on. You cannot book a ticketless package if you want FD, but you can save the tickets for use later on. The last time there was a public offer for FD for spring was in 2012.
