Free Dining Anonymous (and a whole lot more)

Would anyone be willing to give me the odds of getting FD? I'm already booked with the MM for mid-September at POR (family of 5). I do have a Disney Visa card. I've read that POR both books up quickly and slowly. Please either just burst my bubble or calm my nerves. This roller coaster is making me crazy, :(. I know nothing is a given, but any sage advice would be helpful.

I've stayed at POR twice with Free Dining, but both times have been in November...I think you should be fine for September though! I hope, because POR is my first choice too! :thumbsup2

My dad talks about a family trip, and as much as I would jump on any chance to go to Disney, I would not look forward to it as much as just my family. My sister and I have a complicated relationship, she has always had to make everything a competition and I am just sick of it. She would try to control the trip, from where we stay to what we do and eat, even though I am more into Disney than she is. She just has to be in control though. She would insist we stay at AoA but we would end up in LM rooms them (don't need to pay the extra for the suite unless we would share the room with my parents, and then DH would kill me) and we don't do double beds. But that way she would have the "better" room as she has a family of 5.

A Disney half marathon is on my to-do list too! Not sure which one. Actually thought of doing our next trip a week earlier to try to do the F&W but a trip with the races would be a much different trip than the usual vacation. And I'm not ready to give that up yet for the money we spend to go. One day. I REALLY want the runDisney shoes and wish they were available outside the race events. Those are more elusive than Vera Bradley bags!

Glad we have this to keep the group going! Hoping for FD for our November trip but will be nice to keep up with you guys on "so much more!"

I understand. My other 2 sisters would probably want to do things a lot differently than my twin and I. We would probably spend a good bit of time split up. Of course their children are full-grown already so there is no way it would work out going with all our families now anyway. If we went with just adults, we could split and get back together as we need to without too much anxiety.
I think even if I went with my twin sister, with our families, we would spend a good bit of time apart, but we could probably divide our 6 kids better by likes and dislikes and everyone would get to do more of what they wanted to do. Maybe that will work out one day too. Hmmm. Maybe she'll be ready to go again in 2016!

Is this the "Don't Book Yet, even though we NEED POR" Support Group? ;)

So far we're holding off, but we are nervous!

Regards,
C.

We are all so excited and nervous at the same time! Hoping to stay on site Oct 17-25th. We are treating my retired parents as well (they have never been to WDW!) and are wishing for FD because that's the only way we can afford to go. We are all staying positive and waiting impatiently for good news. Here's to pixie dust for everyone! pixiedust:

Hi everyone one!!!!! I saw Joe mention earlier he started a new thread, and I completely forgot to subscribe.....until now. Phew....didn't want to miss anything. I see my DIS family is here and accounted for along with some newbies to the group. I want to say welcome to the obsession, party and family! :)

Oh man, I'm really tempted to make another reservation if it comes out online at midnight. Would MDE would not be confused about two reservations that are exactly the same? I dun wanna risk being on hold for hours in the morning and miss out. I do have disney visa too, so if it is released earlier, I would call for that.

Well, one day we'll be planning our (most likely) 2016 trips together! In the meantime, we'll watch everyone else's good news I guess. You are planning to go in the fall of 2016?
My twin sister and her family are going down in less than 2 weeks! I would have postponed my November trip and gone at the same time if I had known, but they didn't expect to be able to go. One day it will work out for us. I always tell my sisters that one day when the kids are all grown, we will do a sisters only trip.

sister's only trip, nice. I am divorced and sis DH does not like WDW (can you imagine?) so it works out well, us and with the 4 kids, 2 each. Yes, Fall of 2016. we have been September(too hot) and October, I would like go in November to see Xmas decorations

Hello everyone. I can't believe this new thread is already up to 5 pages in such a short time!!!!

Mid summer is soooooo far away for Oct-Dec announcements! I'm just torturing myself with all this excitement for September FD.
I agree! My DS and I are going the week after Thanksgiving. I trying to wait as long as possible before I make my ressie. I love all the tips and early info ! Thanks everyone :)

OK....so what is the consensus about tomorrow morning being a possibility? Black, what's your expert opinion?

Hey guys and gals, since this is the "whole lot more" section, I've started a fresh page to talk business. We will keep that thread strictly business and discuss free dining, questions, resorts everyone is able to book, what's excluded, what's included, how much everyone saved....all the basics.

Free Dining 2014 Discussion:

In here, it's a bit more of a relaxed discussion on free dining (and a whole lot more)

Happy posting!!!

Hey everyone, so I called Disney today and I have the pin for the free park hopper with a 6 day or more ticket, now does anyone know when that pin would expire I forgot to ask! Thanks

I got the same PIN via email, and it is only valid on stays from June 1st to August 28th (and has to be booked by June 26th). No good for us. :sad1:

Following and learning so much.
Thanks to Black and all for your informative posts!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'm doing the wine & dine for the first time in November! I'd be happy to so the princess too and join you!!! I am not much of a runner but I can keep a 15min mile

The Princess Half is on my Bucket List. So is the Tinker Bell Half.

Will definitely be following along in this thread! :thumbsup2 Love the anticipation of wondering when FD will be announced! :rotfl2:

Oh, and someone asked about the Princess Half? My sister did last year, and I went with her on that trip, and just being in the parks while it was going on was awesome! I'm really hoping to do it in 2015 (when it's announced in August I think I'm signing up!) BUT...I'm NOT a runner! AT. ALL. So I really gotta get my behind moving if I want to finish those 13 miles next year! I don't expect to run the whole thing, but I'd like to be fast enough to take pictures with characters and not worry about the sweepers behind me! :sad2:

I would love to join you, but there is no way I could be ready this year. Maybe this is the motivation I need to get back into shape. I'll start tomorrow. :cheer2:
Wow! We got a Free Dining Fun Run club started already! Any of the races sound awesome! My whole motivation for doing this is: the super cute shoes, the equally cute medal and the characters!!!!:cheer2:

I am right there with ya. I have no dates, but I am always planning because ya never know....;) Love, love, love the Olaf!

I think the discrepancy you are hearing with POR is because of the fall free dining "fiasco." Last September was no different, but when FD was released for fall last year, for the first time ever full resorts were excluded. One being POFQ, so all those folks jumped to POR creating a bit of an availability issue. However, many of those folks who booked something different that day, did end up booking at POR later on when things started to calm down. Some right away for their dates, others it took several long weeks.
