Free admission on your birthday intro + FAQ + gift card T&C

DH & I went to DL on MLK DAY (last Monday) and we had not been to the Land since mid-Dec. So now it is no longer "Year of a Million Dreams" and it is all about the "Birthday Celebrations"....so we arrive around 11am and the lines at both the outside Ticket Booths and the Bank in the MK were unbelieveable:sad2: ....I am thinking they were all there for their birthday fun cards or their SoCal 2Fer or whatever they wanted if it was their birthday....:confused3

Also as we walked around Main Street and there was another very long line outside the Plaza Inn. Everyone waiting in that long line had on a DL Birthday hats.....:confused3 I wonder why they were all lined up there?? :confused3

I would love to avoid the lines as well on my birthday......:upsidedow

We went to City Hall and got DBF's fun card.

Where did you get those numbers? An upgrade would just be the difference between what you're upgrading to and what you're going from. I checked the numbers and you're right, an upgrade to a 3-day hopper is cheaper than using the free day and a 2-day hopper, but I didn't get the numbers you had.

Oops, I looked at the wrong sheet -- those are WDW prices. The point still stands though.

My birthday is on Monday and I'm going to Disneyland. I haven't received an email from Disney yet even though I registered a few months ago. When do the emails that we need to print and bring to Disneyland show up in our email inboxes?

Thanks!

You don't need the email. They can take your info and check your official ID right then and there.

Hmmm...I received the email immediately after I registered. Looking at the email, I did this on 09/24/08! My bday is in March and we are going. Taking that email right to City Hall. DH, DS and I all have to work that day (obviously) as it is a Friday so we cannot go until evening :sad1: ...another reason why I do not want to wait in a long line.

Whew! I got it! I'm not sure what took so long, but it said that I was already registered and gave me a link to reprint the letter.

Play hooky from work in March. Get in there before the Spring Break crowds are too crazy :)

We have annual passes, so I was going to go and get the free ticket to give to my mom (that way she and my dad can both be free on his birthday) Does anyone know if those thickets can be given away, or do they have to be used by the person who they were issued to.

The other option is to accompany them, and use the ticket to get her in, and then leave them to the celebrating.

Anyone know??

OK, I tried to edit the above entry...no luck.

Anyway, If I can't use the birthday ticket for someone else, could I use the birthday gift card to buy a ticket for my mom??

THANKS

Yes you can use the fun card to buy a ticket. You have to do it at a different window, though, for some weird reason.

Sounds like a weird loophole. You can't use your birthday ticket for someone else, but you can get a gift card equal to the price of the ticket and use it to buy one for someone else? I don't doubt that it works, but it sounds fishy.

Within their restrictions, you can use the funcard on whatever you want. If that's what you want to do with the money, why would they have a problem with it? You could pull the money out of your pocket to buy the ticket and then use the funcard for whatever you were going to spend that cash on...would be more specific, but ultimately it's the same thing.

Think of it from Disney's perspective:

Someone can take home with them approximately $70 worth of Disney merchandise by using their fun card
OR
Someone can bring another person into the park for the day to SPEND money on food, drinks, and probably at least a small souvenir.

Not fishy at all. Brilliant marketing on behalf of Disney perhaps, but not fishy since it is specfically allowed within the rules of the fun card.

clarification from Disney, again thanks to glendalais

Main Entrance Vacation Planners will distribute both Donald and Daisy Fastpasses to the Birthday Guest, and up to five other members of their party.

They will be valid for one use on one Attraction on Donald's list and one Attraction on Daisy's list, and will be collected as normal Fastpasses by the appropriate Cast Member at the Attraction upon redemption.
------
Reports aren't consistent, but it appears the number of fastpasses handed out depends on the day's attendance at the parks.
So if I got the DL fast pass for my birthday, it would be good for me and my husband for a total of 4 rides? One each from the Donald and Daisy list for two people?

I would go with either the gift card or free admission ticket that is good until after your next birthday.
