Free admission on your birthday intro + FAQ + gift card T&C

When you say you can't find anyone at DLR to answer your question, I'm curious who you called. Your first question is very simple. It's even answered in the FAQs on Disneyland's web site.

"Q: Can I upgrade my free admission?
A: Yes, you can be upgraded to a ticket type of equal or greater value. However, you are responsible for any additional cost, and the new ticket may be used only by you."

As for your second question, I had not heard the 2fer ticket is being given as the birthday admission, but if this is true, you can upgrade tickets as long as they are still valid. So... that would be up through the use of the 2nd park in the case of a 2fer.

I called DLR the other day to get confirmation about the 2fer (which I had read on this thread) and I specifically asked about the upgrade. The first person I asked said "oh, I'm not sure, let me transfer you", and then the second person "the last info I have said, no, not for hoppers unless you add days", but she put me on hold to find out for sure and never came back to it.

That's unfortunate that she could not help you more. Glad we could! :)

Subscribing to this thread. ::yes::

Have not read any of it except the first page. Will get going. My bday is in March and I am a SoCal AP holder....I need to find out how all this works!

Thanks to all that have posted on this thread to help us figure this all out!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hope I did not kill the thread as no one has posted in 6 days....anyway....

With my SoCal AP I am going on my birthday in March. :cake: Taking my online registration with me. Going to the ticket booths outside the gate and turning that in for my $69.00 fun card (as I have chosen that option). (How am I doing?) And then I will head over to WOD in Downtown Disney and buy myself a DL sweatshirt and some pins. :thumbsup2

Seems fine.

Are you blocked out on your birthday? That might put a crimp in your plans as you have to have valid admission on your birthday; otherwise you'll need to buy a blockout pass and then get the Fun Card. You'd still be "up", money-wise, but it wouldn't be the full amount expected.

Nope, Molly, that is the bestest part of all, I am on a Friday in March and DH is on a Sunday in April!!! :thumbsup2 Only "crimp" with me is that we will not be able to head to DL on MY Friday birthday until 5pm due to work. :sad1:

I'm going to go on my birthday and upgrade to a DL annual pass.

My question is, what day is considered the first day of my annual pass that sets off the 365 days? Will it by birthday, or my next visit?

Thanks.

The pass is dated based on the original purchase date of the ticket that you upgrade. If you get a free ticket and upgrade it to a pass, the pass will be good until your next birthday.

I was just wondering, does anyone know if you are staying at one of the Disney hotels can you pick up the fun card at guest services? Since you can also purchase tickets there. Thanks! I'm just looking to avoid a line at the ticket booths.

DH & I went to DL on MLK DAY (last Monday) and we had not been to the Land since mid-Dec. So now it is no longer "Year of a Million Dreams" and it is all about the "Birthday Celebrations"....so we arrive around 11am and the lines at both the outside Ticket Booths and the Bank in the MK were unbelieveable:sad2: ....I am thinking they were all there for their birthday fun cards or their SoCal 2Fer or whatever they wanted if it was their birthday....:confused3

Also as we walked around Main Street and there was another very long line outside the Plaza Inn. Everyone waiting in that long line had on a DL Birthday hats.....:confused3 I wonder why they were all lined up there?? :confused3

I would love to avoid the lines as well on my birthday......:upsidedow

Wow, talk about behind the times!

Okay, someone clear this up. Dreams mentioned in the first page that if you want to day multi-day during your bday, you have to purchase multi-day tickets EVEN to cover the day of your bday. Why is it? If one stays 3 days and their bday is the first, why can't they just use the bday pass the first, then a 2-day hopper the rest?

You need to purchase a Multi-Day ParkHopper ticket for the Alternative Gifts, as they will not be given to those holding One-Day tickets.

If you just want the Free Birthday Ticket, you're more than welcome to get that on the first day, and then use a Multi-Day ParkHopper Ticket for the rest.

Plaza Inn holds the birthday celebrations where you pay $x per person to decorate a little cake and have Pat E Cake host it...Minnie and I think Mickey attend, etc etc.

Some people have reported being able to go to Guest Services and/or Relations to get their b'day gifts.

Oh, ok. The line was soooooo long last Monday.

Ohhhh, yeah, I misread the wording. That's too bad. But oh well. Any reason why they won't give a fun card to single-day ticket holders?

That shouldn't be a problem for me then. I'm just gonna use my AP for admission, and get a fun card on my bday.

Sherwin, since you can't buy a single day ahead of time, I'm thinking it just wouldn't make tons of sense. Pay 69, get a 69 fun card...

But I have been curious, b/c what if you went and bought that single day, THEN remembered that it was the birthday thing, and went and asked for the fun card.

Still is the same cost, but I wonder if they'd let you, in that sort of circumstance.

Main reason Single-Day Tickets are eligible, from what I can gather, is that they're not actually valid until they're used. So they just give the Free Birthday Ticket and allow the guest to keep their other ticket for a future visit.

What, like someone would forget their own bday? :rotfl2:

Actually, you are better off getting your free birthday ticket and then upgrading it to a 3-day hopper. A 2-day hopper is @211.91, but upgrading a 1-day ticket to a 3-day hopper is $199.15

Where did you get those numbers? An upgrade would just be the difference between what you're upgrading to and what you're going from. I checked the numbers and you're right, an upgrade to a 3-day hopper is cheaper than using the free day and a 2-day hopper, but I didn't get the numbers you had.

The 3-day hopper at the gate is 199, and the free admission is 69, so wouldn't you pay 130 for an upgrade? A 2-day hopper is 143, so it would be more expensive, but where did you get 211.91 and 199.15? Or am I doing these calculations wrong? :confused3
