Free admission on your birthday intro + FAQ + gift card T&C

Hi. Just curious if anyone has figured out a way to check the balance on their fun card. There is no phone number on the back to call.

We were focused on using our disney visa rewards and since the fun card didn't expire, I didn't feel the need to "blow" it. Just curious if I can figure out what I have left on it.

Thanks so much!

We are going to DL June 28th adn 29th and my bday is on the 28th
My parents have APs and I am planning on buying the 3-day SOCal PH before we drive down so that we can avoid the lines at the ticket booths.

My question is....i know that b/c i will have a 3 day PH that i can get the bday fun card but does the ticket have to be activated to get it?

I knwo that the tickets that you buy at the disney stores and at Ralphs, Vons etc are not activated until you get to the turnstiles adn our first day there is my bday so will i have to go into the park before i can get my fun card or can i get it before i go into the park?:confused3

Since I already had a 3-day hopper ticket when I went on my birthday, I opted for the 1-day pass to use within the next year. And since I was going to take my daughter for her birthday later on in the year, I thought I'd use it then. So when I went to the ticket counter to upgrade it to a 1-day hopper pass, I was told that I could not upgrade and it was only good at one park. Now what good is that going to do me since we had dinner reservations at Ariel's Grotto??? And why couldn't I upgrade it when I went back to use it but could have upgraded it on the day of my birthday??? I even went to Customer Service and the lady really had know clue what she was doing and had to ask someone in the back and I kinda of got the same answer.... and I couldn't even exchange it for the fun card which would have been fine since I could have used that. So now I have a ticket that I may not be able to use...oh and I had to buy a 1-day hopper pass for $97 when if I'd known about not being able to upgrade it, I would have just bought the SoCal 3-day hopper for $99. I was so upsest it just ruined my whole day :( Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else....

That stinks! Sorry it ruined your day. I hope you and DD still had some fun for her bday.

At DLR, there are four options.

FunCard.
Hoppers.
Ticket to use THAT day that can be upgraded.
Ticket to take home and use inside of a year that canNOT be upgraded.*

The last is what happened. Now...I don't see that info in the OP here...but I've read it on mouseplanet (I do believe).

*from what I've read, WDW doesn't even have THAT option!

It was on the Disneyland website:

Q: Can I upgrade my free birthday ticket to another ticket type?
A: Yes, the free birthday ticket may be upgraded to another ticket type on your birthday. However the celebrant is responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by the celebrant. The 1-Day / 1-Park ticket good for 12 months (an option for certain passholders and multi-day ticket holders) may not be upgraded.

I'm not posting this to be an @$$. Just want to encourage people to read the rules and limitations before you go.

Visitors have reported that they got one of these gifts at Guest Relations / City Hall at DL / Guest Services at DCA.

Wanted to verify (probably re-re-re-verify) this. :)

For DS, we got his funcard at Guest Whichever to the left of the Disneyland gates.

For me, I got my funcard at Guest Relations INSIDE of DCA, on the left as you enter, just before Greetings from CA giftshop.

SO easy.

Q: What kind of identification do I need to show at the gate? !!

A: If you're age 18 or older, valid Date of Birth identification includes: Government-issued Passport, Driver's License, Government-issued Photo ID or Birth Certificate. If you are under age 18 and don't have any of the above mentioned ID, an original Birth Certificate or a notarized copy of a Birth Certificate is required.

Question for parents who have gone on their child's birthday:

Did you actually bring the original birth certificate or a notarized copy? Or did you just bring a copy? I'm only asking because I'm somewhat leary of bringing the original with me and if I don't need to get a copy notarized, I'd rather not. But I will, if it's what's actually required when you arrive! Thanks! ;)

You do need the original copy -they will not accept a photocopy.....

Original only, we just carried it in DBF's pin bag after we got DD her Fun Card.

I guess I'll bring along the original then...thanks for the responses. Does anyone else feel just slightly uncomfortable bringing along an original birth certificate? Am I just being paranoid here? It's not like I've ever had anything stolen from a hotel room (well, actually I have, once, but that's another story :rolleyes2). I don't even know that a birth certificate is really anything I need to worry about being stolen.

Could just as easily be stolen from your home while you're gone.

The original is just the originally received certified copy of what they have in their files anyway...easy enough to replace if lost. I'm on my third certified copy of what SF has in their files about my arrival personally...seems CA makes them on disintegrating paper!

Put it in a zip-top baggie, put it towards the bottom of your purse/backpack, don't leave that bag anywhere (you shouldn't leave anything anwhere anyway), it'll be fine. Then on the non-birthday days, just throw it in the safe.

A notarized copy wouldn't work, because all a notary does is say "this person told me that this paper is real". They need the certified copy, because that proves that the *gov't* notary actually got that copy and certifies that it truly is a real thing.

This is very old information as I'm going for my birthday and all u can get is a free button
This is indeed very old information. The first post is from 2008 when that birthday promotion was offered. The post just above yours dates back to 2009 -- well over a decade ago. As the pp said, this promo was only offered for that year and has not been repeated.
For more accurate information, it is better to stick to threads that are recent, especially those posted since the parks reopened.
