Right...I knew about the 14 days. So that means that my friend could use days one and two of the Hopper on December 12th and 13th, and then use day three of the Hopper on December 26 (14 days from the 12th) to get the Fun Card? In other words, there are no rules prohibiting getting the Fun Card on the last day of one's Park Hopper, right?

Cool! Great. Thanks, Kerri! I had wondered if DLR was being picky about making someone get the Fun Card on the first day of a Hopper, but as long as my friend can do it that way and get the Fun Card on the last day (within the 14 day time frame) then that that gives her some elbow room. I was thinking to myself, "Oh well, it's her problem to find out and she can go up to the window and see if they will let her have the Fun Card on the Hopper's last day, and I can stand back out of the line of fire if they say no..." But it is better to know in advance that she will be able to do it without a problem - because I am the more vocal question-asker and my friend is not. She will not speak up if she is dissatisfied at a restaurant, she will not ask an important question that we need the answer to, she will not speak up if someone taking our picture has their thumb in the lens, and she will assume something is one way when it is actually the other way that would benefit her!!! So I have to get to the bottom of all these thigns myself!

Memory serve me right, the Computer System we're using for FOYB is a WDW-based system. That's probably why.

According to the terms of the promotion, in order to get one of the alternate birthday gifts, you must already have valid park entry on your birthday. So, if someone's birthday lands anywhere within the time frame of an active multi-day or AP, they can get an alternate gift (including Fun Card) on their birthday.

That's good to know. I didn't want my friend to pummel me (or Kerri! Hee hee) if I give her the wrong info! So, if we time it right, we should be able to squeeze in the 'official' DLR holiday trip and her birthday day-trip (to get the Fun Card) on one multi-day Hopper, within the 14-day period, though the birthday will be on the last day of the Hopper and the holiday trip will be on the first days of the Hopper. I am glad I don't have to deal with that Hopper business and can just show the CM's my AP to get my Fun Card!

Standard opening for peak season and for weekends is 8 am. I've been a few times in July (DD's bday is the 8th) and the park opened at 8 each time. DCA opens later but DL will be open at 8.

I got my printout email to me the other day, I printed it today and need to remember to put it in my bag when I get home. I'm wondering how much easier it will make it to have the printout, we didn't have it for DBF and that was kind of a like a nightmare. LOL

I was wondering how DLR was handling that situation of guests not having their printout, because I am sure there are tons of people who are either forgetting to bring their email b-day thingy, OR have not received them for some reason (due to glitches in cyberspace). So DBF was eventually able to get his Fun Card, even though it was a nightmare not having the printout? Did they have to look his name up in their system or how did they do it?

Sherry it was really weird because when I tried to register him at the beginning of Jan
09 it kept telling his bday (which I was entering correctly with his birth year) didn't exist! LOL So I gave up, when we went in on his day he was determined to get that money so we went to City Hall and told them what happened, they were confused too but they registered him on the spot. Then the CM hit the wrong button and it deleted everything so he had to regive all his info, email, address, his drivers license and whatever else, and then she hit the right button and it worked fine. They gave him his fun card, he got his call from Goofy and off we went. In all it would have only taken moments but since she had to do it twice that way it took longer. Oh and before she just entered it however she did (you can't see the screens, they are mounted under the desktop) she tried going online and entered his bday and it was telling her it was an invalid bday too! lol It was too funny!!!!! In all it took about 30-40 min. but the CMs were great about it and I would imagine they are much faster now, remember DBF's bday is 1-7 so the promo was only a week old at that point and the CM did say it was her first doing it.

When I got my Fun Card, I went to City Hall and told the CM I wanted my Fun Card and I gave her the email printout and she asked for my AP. She scanned both of those, typed some things into her computer, pulled out the Fun Card, scanned that, typed some more things and I was on my way. One thing though she did NOT ask my for my driver's license. I don't know if she forgot or because I do have an AP. But she didn't ask me.

Sounds like pixie's bf's experience was bad b/c they were so new at it, but since signing up ahead of time isn't required at all, I imagine they would just be able to do it as though you hadn't signed up. You have to bring the proof of birthdate anyway, so they can just start from teh beginning.

I did sign up E, and I got the email and have it in my folder, but if they are having problems, I'll have his birth cert anyway, so we can just start as though he wasn't signed up.

Molly I'm sure that's exactly what the issue was. And like I said the CM told us she hadn't done it before and she did have to ask for help. We were prepared to wait tho so it wasn't a problem for us. I have my printout too, it's in my wallet waiting to go into my sling bag.

My bday is June 3, we are going in the parks on June 2 and 3. I plan to get a two day hopper on June 2. On my birthday I can then go back to the ticket counter and get one of the alternate gift options.

If I understand the rules correctly, since I'm buying the two day pass one day before my birthday, I can't use the free birthday pass to purchase the two day pass.

Correct, you can't use the giftcard to pay for your pass.

Now if you were going June 3 and 4 it would have been different (could have gotten the free admission then upgraded it to a 2 day ticket).

Correct!! Just like Molly said. But the good news is you can then get the fun card (at Guest Services, at City Hall or at the ticket booths) and you will have $69 to buy yourself a gift.

What does that mean?? My bday was in March, DH was in April...we did not get any calls from Goofy.

When you get your bday button at City Hall some of the CM's will tell you to pick up one of the phones in there, on the other end is Goofy wishing you a Happy Bday, he doesn't call your house or cell phone or anything, it's just in City Hall.

Or.... (and I don't know how far away you live) apply your $69 and the cost of your already purchased 2-day pass to some level AP so you can go more in the coming year!

Thank you for your replies. I really didn't want to get there and find out I did something wrong or misunderstood.

I'm actually considering getting the one-day pass that you can use within a year because we will be there on Christmas day. But the giftcard is a very close second. If I see anything I really want, I may get it.

ok - question - free one day pass for DD who turns 10 saturday July 11 or buy tix and go on a weekday which i read is "much" less crowded. weekday would be 10th or 13 july - can it be much of a difference crowd-wise at that time of year anyway? i've never been to DL....

This is one where you will get 10 different opinions from 10 different people, but I think during July the crowds are fairly consistent. Yes, weekends may be a little more crowded because of local APs who are at work on a weekday, but the crowd difference is not significant, imo.

I would say go when you can get the free ticket. Remember, she'll be considered an adult now, ticket cost wise since she's 10.
