Day 7- MK

Although our trip was nearing the end, I was really looking forward to today. We were going to try to do the attractions we had missed on Monday. And at a more relaxed pace.

We decided to save some energy by riding the monorail around to the MK. We arrived about 8:30 & waited for the gates to open. We enjoyed the opening ceremonies with the mayor of Main Street & the train full of characters.

I know I've read in the Unofficial Guide the train leaves at precisely the same time the rope drops. We thought we'd try that, but the CM told us because of the train full of characters, the first train would leave in 20 minutes. Oh well.

Since we missed Pirates on Monday, we went there first. Pirates is my favorite attraction at MK. We also did Hall of Presidents, Philarmagic (a great show-I especially love the smells), Snow White, Toontown (saw all the characters including Mickey), Carousel of Progress, & Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

We had a 12:00 PS at Tony's. We had never eaten here before. The food was very good. Nephew & I had the chicken pagnini (yummy!), & the others had spaghetti & meatballs. This was probably our best-tasting meal all week. Our server was kind of clumsy. She spilled water on my back while refilling our glasses! YOW!!! Not a big deal though.

After lunch, we made our way over to Epcot. We had a 3pm PS at the Ice Cream Social. When we got to Epcot, there was no line at Spaceship Earth, so we rode that again. Our 8yo niece still says that was her fave. Wierd. We walked around Innoventions for a while. The kids really liked all the video games.

Checked in at the Ice Cream Social & waited about 5 minutes before our pager went off. The ice cream was delicious as usual & I finally remembered to get some pics before starting to eat it! Mickey came around quickly. I convinced our niece it was the same Mickey we had seen in Toontown. "There's only one Mickey!" ;) The other characters hadn't gotten to us by the time we finished our ice cream. I told our server & within 5 minutes Pluto & Chip & Dale came around. I'm convinced Chip & Dale are played by teenage boys. They flirt big-time with DD (18yo) every time we see them! :lovestruc

Back to CR for one last swim in the pool. Niece wanted to go in the circle pool so we did. There was hardly anyone there, so we had the pool almost to ourselves. We let her swim as long as she wanted since we were leaving tomorrow.

Some friends of ours from church had arrived on Tuesday & we had pre-planned to meet them at MK for Spectromagic & Wishes. We arrived back at MK a little later than I wanted, about 7:30pm, & many people had already claimed their seats. We finally found a good section of the street curb in front of the Castle & planted ourselves there. As it turned out, our friends had secured some good seats at the corner of the street to Liberty Square, so we joined them instead. I tell you one thing, you have to hold on to your seat with a death grip if you don't want to lose it. One of our friend's kids got up for a second, & someone snagged her seat within just a few seconds, right in the middle of our group! I had to gripe at some 20-something ladies who STOOD(!) right in front of us as the parade began. I told then we had gotten here early to secure these good seats & they couldn't just show up at the last minute & stand in front of us! You know what they said to me? "No habla Engles(sp?)!!! They moved over a little so we could see, but never did sit down.

I gotta say though, Wishes is phenomenal! The way the music & fireworks are coordinated is really something. Makes our small-town July 4th fireworks show seem pretty lame!

We enjoyed visiting with our friends. I had helped plan their trip as they were newbies. The wife said she had one bone to pick with me though. She believed me when I said to try the "Beverly" cola at the Coke exhibit at Epcot. :rotfl:

We had intended to get a hot dog from Casey's while waiting for the parade, but were afraid we'd lose our seats. We were all really hungry after Wishes. We had E-Ride Night tix, so we rode Splash & Big Thunder & then went to Pecos Bill's for burgers & fries. Saw Philarmagic again, did Pooh, Buzz. By that time, it was approaching midnight. Niece, DW, & DD were exhausted, so they left. Nephew & I rode Space twice & Buzz one more time. I had one more souvenir to get, so we browsed around until I found what I wanted. I was trying to stretch my last moments at MK as long as possible. ;) Got some great pics of the castle in different colors. Nephew & I left MK about 1:05am. We waited a good while for a monorail. They said one was being taken off-line for repair.

Overall, a great, but exhausting day. Tomorrow we were going home... :(

My DH (42) says that his favorite ride in all of Disney is still Spaceship Earth. We must ride it 4-5 times while we are there.

Great posts. I look forward to your last day. :hyper:

Thanks for all your reports. I'm sad that it's all coming to an end soon. I know exactly what you mean about people arriving at the last minute for parades and fireworks. It happens to us every time, and it's very frustrating. You were very gracious about the spilled water on your back! I'm glad you've had such a great time, though! :)

Great report ~ Thanx for sharing.
