DH and are contemplating a Riviera stay before our Fantasy cruise on February 1. Of course it is smack in the middle of the refurb that will take place the last week of January. I appreciate Disney making the announcement well in advance so we can plan a strategy that makes sense for our family.

My question is if you have stayed at Riviera during one of the refurbs were the buses that were running an okay substitute as far as frequency goes? Did you share the bus with other resorts? I suppose there is no way to get the International Gateway if staying at Riviera and utilizing the buses, correct? We will probably spend 1/2 our time in the Boardwalk area and wonder if I should just plan on booking Boardwalk Villas tomorrow. My only issue with BWV is those long long long hallways. Last month a girlfriend and I had a devil of time receiving a villa that was moderately near an elevator. DH has a lot of health issues and we would need something not too far from the elevators so I am a bit concerned about that.

Any advice is appreciated!

They run plenty of buses like any other resort so it’s not really a big issue. I don’t recall sharing buses. The Epcot bus does drop off at the front of the park. They did run a “skyliner replacement” bus but I don’t know if it went to the international gateway resorts or not. Maybe someone else knows.

I would book BWV or BC or maybe a cash YC stay if you want to spend time touring around the lake. If you get BWV, you can add a note to the reservation to be close to the elevators. I know it’s a request only, but I’ve had good luck having requests filled there.

If you are going to spend that much time in the Boardwalk area, I would vote for getting one of the resorts over there. You could also look into the Swan/Dolphin too.
