Found old safe in my basement

It is a great looking safe, from an antique dealer's point of view, now you have peaked my interest too..

I cannot wait to know what is in it.......what if it is something good.. even old papers are saleable.....like old stocks etc..

This is exciting.

When you do get it open, can you post it as an update on your title and let us know what page it is on... or edit your original post.....just trying make it easy to find out when you do..

Good idea, yes, I will do that.

my husband is a locksmith, definitly call a professional

Your husband is a locksmith and youre on the east coast???

Dont you realize sending him over there is another one-way ticket to Walt Suite-ville????

There's already 2 of us. One whom listed locksmiths in the area, and me with the brilliant 'I locked my baby in the safe' idea.

OMGoodness! I'm sorry! You're right!

Oh Heck no - leave the Mickey Glove for the spouse of the locksmith she didnt call and demand he go to the OP's house. You're coming on board! :woohoo:

No kidding! :confused3 :hyper:

OP - this is getting ridiculous. We are going to need your address. There are a few of us who have dynamite, crow bars, night vision goggles, one of those snake camera things, stethescopes, and many other tools ready to go. Just give us the word.

If we get this open tonight, we can probably book for lets say a December cruise? Is that good for everyone? :upsidedow

Phew....I was getting really nervous there for a minute.

Of course if that stupid locksmith doesn't get crackin' (no pun intended - crack the safe, get it ? No ? Oh well.....) heads are gonna' roll I tell you - ROLL !!!!

Actually, January would work much better for me....get the holidays over with and have something to look forward to after that Christmas let down. How does that sound ??:yay: This is going to be such a fun cruise !

I got ahold of another locksmith and he doesn't do safes either. But I did ask him how much he thought it would cost for someone to crack open the safe. He guesstimated it was going to be a minimum of 200 and very possibly more. That is if they can do it. He says there isn't a high need for safe openers and lot of them are busy doing other things and just aren't interested. If I don't hear from the locksmith who said he would look at it by tonight, it is going to get cut into. If that doesn't work, who knows. My brother is a McGyver (sp), he can do just about anything. He will find a way.

Someone else told me that the county also will do a dynamite opening for a few as well. Holy crap, that would be expensive and also scary!!!!! Hopefully we won't need to go to that extreme.

You will all know as soon as I do. Hopefully by the end of the weekend. Gotta wait for brother now.......

Ok, that's it. It's settled then.....get that brother of yours over there and open the thing. And tell the county they can keep their dynamite...that's very scary !!:scared1:

Cathryn and I are almost packed and ready for the cruise......but it would be helpful to know just how much the contents are worth. I mean really, is it enough for a 7-day or are we going to have to settle for just a 3 or 4-day ? It makes a huge difference in the packing process and time is a wastin' !!:rotfl:

dh and i would have been in a big fight over this already. He wouldn't be able to sleep without cutting it up and I'd be wanting to get an expert out. I'm very excited about this and hope it goes well for you.

I am planning possibly a 7 day cruise with another 7 at Disney World. How shall we decide what resort to stay at???

You are so sweet to upgrade to a Land and Sea Package ! Well, personally, I've never really stayed onsite, except for the Shades of Green, so I'm up for anything. If I had to choose, I think I'd like to try the Animal Kingdom Lodge.:woohoo: But, really - your safe, your choice ! :thumbsup2

Fantastic, I'll supply the tooth floss, and magnifying glass. :lmao:

That show was awesome. I was completely in love with MacGyver:lmao: And still halfway in love with Richard Dean Anderson all these years later. Nobody tell my DH:rotfl:

I would vote for the Grand Floridian!!

But if you wanted to keep the theming up - you could do the Poly since this is sort of like a treasure hunt and I always feel like I could go on a treasure hunt at the Poly!!

Ok I got it. We hold a poll/contest to guess how much or what kind of historical goodies are in the safe. Person with the closest guess gets to pick the resort. And since its your safe you get to choose the Eastern or Western itinerary. Just FYI my upcoming cruise is an Eastern. :lmao: :lmao:

thank you all so much! I had an hour to kill in my office today and SafeWatch2008 was the perfect solution!

Hope there is something exciting inside!

I was just on google.. and if you type in found old safe. it is the number one hit. :D

I am just dying to know! :cool1:
