Formal/semi formal night (7 day western)

Hi,

For those of you that have been on the 7 day western...do you where your evening gown for both the semi formal and formal nights...just change it up a little with the jewelry and wrap?

Does your hubby where a tux to both?

Can't speak for the gowns, webray. I wear the tux both nights AND once for a formal morning stroll...

I wore the same black dress to both nights and DH wore his tux both nights. On the more formal of the two nights, I dressed up the black dress with a gold wrap, shoes and purse, and DH wore a gold bow tie and cumberbun(sp?).

I plan on wearing a short dress on both nights. My sister and her family don't have much $$$ and BIL will not be getting a tux, so in support the guys are all wearing suits and the girls are passing up the long dresses.

Is there more than one company to rent from on board? How did you get the correct size? Did you go locally to get measured and forward those measurements or something?

On formal/semi-formal nights are these for kids also? Next summer when we are on the 7 night cruise I was wondering if kids participate on these nights or are they adult only nights. Our kids will be 15 DS and 10 DD next summer.

We did the 4 night cruise last year and they didn't have a formal or semi-formal night.

Definately the kids are included! You can get some great family photos those nights! My DS10 and his friend (also 10) just wore khakis, long sleeve button down shirts and ties and they looked great! My girls dressed up in "fancy" dresses on formal night and princess dresses on semi-formal night (but they were 6,4,3). My DH wore a dark suit (as did my Dad) and I wore a long dress (my Dad's wife wore a formal pant suit). I LOVE our pictures from that night!

Our plan is for the whole family to dress up and my DS12 and I to get tuxedos on board. I am a little worried about getting a good fit, though... Mrs. Bronco already has a dress and is looking for a second one at a reasonable price, but she will settle for one if need be. I guess that goes back to "pack and leave 50% at home" rule. The hard part is finding a nice formal dress for my DD8.

We rented from cruiselineformal and had a local place take DH's and DS's measurements. They (the local place messed up really bad--the girl at the rental place caught it when I called to reserve.) I ended up just looking at DH's suit and shirt sizes in the closet, and gave her DS's boys clothing size. Their boys sizes fit very true to size BTW.

I would look at EBay for formal wear for the girls, or depending on when you are sailing, after CHristmas and after Easter there are usually GREAT sales on party/formal type dresses in the department stores.

I wore two different outfits. A long gown for formal night, and a tea length skirt and off the shoulder lace top for semi-formal Same shoes and bag for both.

DH wore his suit on semi-formal, as did DS. I would have loved tos eem them int the "monkey suits" again, but didn't want to push my luck LOL!

Ebay is a wonderful place to find formal dresses for little girls. Many sellers have Ebay stores and all of there merchandise is new. I bought a gorgeous dress for my DD to where to her older DD first communion. I think with shipping it came to about $30.00. She looked like a princess in it. I found it by searching for "flower girl". Good luck!

We found my wife's dress on eBay but are having a hard time finding something we like on eBay for my daughter. We have a little time, though, so we will work on it.

I could not resist the after Christmas sales and got a great long gown for formal night, a short one for semi-formal and another cocktail dress for Palo, same shoes and wrap. DH wore a formal black suit with different shirts and ties for all. Same cut as a tux but no satin lapel or pant stripe.

Here is the link for the company that supplies the tux on board. The flyer will come with your docs, but have heard a few complaints about the lateness of the arrival of the docs and the time needed to order.
