Registering for Classes!
One of the aspects of the DCP is the ability to take classes through Disney. Some can actually be applied towards your degree, cost a fee and have set homework and tests. Others are more seminar based and are written by Disney for people who are interested in learning more about the company. I chose to register for two of the Disney Exploration classes at 12 am this morning
For people who are considering the program if you are going to register for classes they operate on EST not PST. I think a lot of people are kicking themselves for not realizing that!
Here are descriptions and days I am excited for when it comes to the two classes I chose!
EXPLORING LEADERSHIP AT THE WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT
This opportunity consists of a series of conversations and presentations facilitated by Disney leaders from across the resort, sharing their insights and experiences. Each of the days are based off of one of the many values and ideals Walt Disney held while creating the company.
2.Pathways to Excellence and Diversity and Inclusion
You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place it the world, but it requires people to make that dream a reality.
a Understand the expectations of our leaders and Cast Members in supporting diversity and inclusion
b. Discuss the dramatic changes to the marketplace and business opportunities for our company
c. Develop approaches to fostering an inclusive work environment
5.Disney Leadership Competencies
In order to make good in your chosen task, its important to have someone you want to do it for. The greatest moments in life are not concerned with selfish achievements but rather with the things we do for the people we love and esteem, and whose respect we need.
a.Describe and identify behaviors for the 12 Leadership Competencies
b. Accountability Matrix
c.Goofy Leadership Activity
7.The Power of Story
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
a.Every Leader is telling a story about what he/she values. We judge ourselves based on our intentions Others judge us based on our behaviors.
b.Character of a Leader
The other class I am taking is a very popular one! It was already filled 15 minutes after registration opened!
EXPLORING DISNEY HERITAGE
Take a journey back in time to discover the roots of the Walt Disney Company. Learn about Walt Disney the man and his vision by exploring historical milestones.
2.One Mans Dream
Team scavenger hunt activity at Disneys Hollywood Studios
a. This is a self guided tour back to the nostalgic days of Hollywood
b.Students work in teams to identify replicas of actual Hollywood buildings
c.Walk through a life size timeline to identify moments and artifacts from Walt Disney History
d.Complete questionnaire as team and submit to facilitator for review
3.Walt & Roy: The Original Dream Team

b.Storytelling Tour of Magic Kingdom
NOT ONLY AM I GOING TO CLASS AT DISNEY BUT I WILL BE GOING TO THE PARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited!!
Both classes have a wrap up day that helps us figure out how to include these classes on our resumes and how to integrate them in to future job interviews.
I am so excited and happy with the classes I got. I plan on taking as many of the free seminars as possible and I am so excited!!
