FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER...I'm NOT GOING HOME!! UPDATE DEC.30 PG 74

Always enjoy your trip reports. Congratulations on being accepted to the DCP. Looking forward to following along on this new adventure.

The Character Audition

When I was on my phone interview the interviewer mentioned that there was a character audition the next day in Ann Arbor. After looking in to it, it turned out that the audition was really in Canton! (For those of you not from Michigan that's like 10 minutes from me :thumbsup2)

The auditions were at 10 which of course led to another sleepless night for me! I woke up had some coffee and watched House of Mouse Villians Special to get in to "character".

Once I was ready I looked like this

I was rocking my Cheshire Cat tank top this morning! (I have an unhealthy addiction to Hot Topic Disney clothes and have at least one from every movie they offer)

I headed out the door to the dance studio it was at and boy was it packed! It took me a while to find a parking spot and once I did I got in the end of a very long line! Once there you had to check in and get your height measured.

I met some nice girls in line one of whom was also applying for the DCP! It was fun meeting someone who was also planning on doing it and making new friends!

I checked in and was measured (61 inches if anyone cares) and then we sat in a room.

For most of the time I just talked to the girls I met and finally they split us in to two groups with one group going to learn the dance. Once it was our turn we were told by the Casting Agent that this was for the new parade! We then had to learn a dance..

I don't dance..

Throw a little Corbin Bleu in for dramatic effect.

I mainly don't dance because I can't dance but that's besides the point. So I tried my best when it came to learning the steps and just tried to play them up the best I could.

We then all had to get in a line and they had four people at a time dance across the area for the Casting Director. I tried to have a ton of energy and Disney music was playing so it wasn't that hard! Disney music gets me pumped!

Finally it was my turn and I tried my best!

The person next to me in line kept screwing up and threw me off a bit but as it is with all auditions, the show must go on!

Afterwards I felt good about everything and we were told to go back to the other room and numbers would be called.

My number didn't end up being called. I was okay with it because being a character wasn't my first choice and I think my height had more to do with it than anything. (it looked like they got rid of anyone under 5'3) I'm not a dancer and would much prefer to be a fully covered character. It was fun though and I continued to talk to the girl I met from the audition.

After a couple days I was talking to her and she got accepted! She got Quick Service and kept asking me if I had heard anything which I hadn't at this point. (She didn't end up taking the position.)

A couple days passed with a lot of this

and a little of this

But finally I got my email!!!

When I got my email I was in my car in the driveway. I climbed out of the car slammed the door and ran in to the house screaming "I MADE IT!!!!!!!!!" I scared mom and dad half to death and my puppy was shaking for about half an hour after :/ I felt bad but it was an awesome feeling!

Eventually I got this

Next up: So you made it into the program what now? :confused3

Once I was ready I looked like this

Same old, same old.
Pretty as always.

I was rocking my Cheshire Cat tank top this morning! (I have an unhealthy addiction to Hot Topic Disney clothes and have at least one from every movie they offer)

"Hi my name is Caitlin and I'm addicted to Hot Topic Disney clothes."
:wave2: "Hi Caitlin!"

Once there you had to check in and get your height measured.

I get it... but it sounds weird.

I checked in and was measured (61 inches if anyone cares) and then we sat in a room.

Caitlin! You're just tiny!

I don't dance..

Finally it was my turn and I tried my best!

Go Caitlin! Go Caitlin! Get busy! Bust a move!

The person next to me in line kept screwing up and threw me off a bit but as it is with all auditions, the show must go on!

And it's their reason you didn't make it.
At least that's what I'd tell people.

A couple days passed with a lot of this

and a little of this

:lmao: Oh, that's just so perfect.

But finally I got my email!!!

hmmm.... not sure. Are you happy?
:rolleyes1:

SO awesome!!! I knew we were in troulble when you started with "I don't dance" :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear more!

Same old, same old.
Pretty as always.

Aw thank you!
"Hi my name is Caitlin and I'm addicted to Hot Topic Disney clothes."
:wave2: "Hi Caitlin!"

It really is a sickness! I am considering quitting my email subscription with them so I am not tempted! I have way too many I bought for vacation and a good majority of my summer clothes are Disney tank tops! Plus they sell Star Wars stuff too!

I get it... but it sounds weird.

It was.

Caitlin! You're just tiny!

I know I thought I was 5"3 so I was a bit upset I am 5"1

I thought so!

I was!!

:lmao:

Do tell! :goodvibes

You will just have to wait and see!

Holy Moley Caitlin, I totally missed this. CONGRATULATIONS!!! :dance3: <---- In honour of your character audition.

I've become particularly fond of DCP cast members as they seem to have that extra enthusiasm I love. And since you come from the DIS and a Disney loving family, I'm confident that tradition will continue.

REALLY looking forward to following your story, finding out where you'll be posted, and well, everything that goes along with it. :goodvibes

Thank you!

I think those smileys are more talented dancers than I am :lmao:

Thank you! I feel so honored to have gotten a position with the DCP and I can't wait to help spread Disney magic!

Thank you for following along!

So great to hear about your audition experience!! I definitely noticed the choreo for the 2nd & 3rd dance was right out of FoF which was pretty awesome! Also WEIRD that they cut all the shorties!! My audition they cut everyone who was in the range between 5'3'' and 5'5''….like…for real…even after getting looked at I was still cut haha, oh well! This Thursday will hopefully prove differently!

Yay for the awesome email and letter! That's so awesome!:cool1:

Yeah the dance really looked like something out of a Disney parade but I haven't seen any FOF videos yet! I am trying to not look at anything when it comes to that and the mine ride! I really want to be surprised!

Wow! That would be a lot of people!

Crossing my fingers for you!!!!

It was so exciting!

Even though I already know you were accepted because, well, that's the point of this report... I still got really happy for you when you posted the acceptance!! YAY!!! :goodvibes

So, this character audition wasn't just for DCP, right? If they had picked you would that be what you did on DCP? Or would it have been an actual job offer? Sorry if that sounds dumb. LOL.

Aw thank you!

No it wasn't. People who also just want to work as a character/performer and move down there were also there. I actually think the people who weren't doing the DCP outnumbered those who were! If I had been picked I would have been doing it for the DCP, if I hadn't made the DCP it would have been a job offer. It doesn't! Good questions!

I'm a regular lurker on all your trip reports, but I wanted to say congratulations on being accepted for College Program! I hope you have an amazing time, and I'm really looking forward to hearing all about it.

I also wanted to let you know to not get too upset about the fact that they measured you at 5'1" and not 5'3"! Disney height often has only a tangential relation to your actual height. Although 5'1 is a great height to be, a lot of awesome people are 5'1".............:rolleyes1

Thank you! Next month I go!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind being 5"1 I was just surprised :rotfl:

Congratulations Caitlin!

Thanks for sharing your experience so far, what a great read.

Good luck with your move, you're very brave. I'm 29 and still live at home, I'm a big baby! Have a wonderful time.

Subbing on here too! I can't wait to hear all about the DCP. I was considering it, but my BF and I are buying a house so this isn't the time for me. I will live vicariously through you though!! :wave2:
