FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER...I'm NOT GOING HOME!! UPDATE DEC.30 PG 74

Registering for Classes!

One of the aspects of the DCP is the ability to take classes through Disney. Some can actually be applied towards your degree, cost a fee and have set homework and tests. Others are more seminar based and are written by Disney for people who are interested in learning more about the company. I chose to register for two of the Disney Exploration classes at 12 am this morning :rotfl: For people who are considering the program if you are going to register for classes they operate on EST not PST. I think a lot of people are kicking themselves for not realizing that!

Here are descriptions and days I am excited for when it comes to the two classes I chose!

EXPLORING LEADERSHIP AT THE WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT

This opportunity consists of a series of conversations and presentations facilitated by Disney leaders from across the resort, sharing their insights and experiences. Each of the days are based off of one of the many values and ideals Walt Disney held while creating the company.

2.Pathways to Excellence and Diversity and Inclusion
“You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place it the world, but it requires people to make that dream a reality.”
a Understand the expectations of our leaders and Cast Members in supporting diversity and inclusion
b. Discuss the dramatic changes to the marketplace and business opportunities for our company
c. Develop approaches to fostering an inclusive work environment

5.Disney Leadership Competencies
“In order to make good in your chosen task, it’s important to have someone you want to do it for. The greatest moments in life are not concerned with selfish achievements but rather with the things we do for the people we love and esteem, and whose respect we need.”
a.Describe and identify behaviors for the 12 Leadership Competencies
b. Accountability Matrix
c.Goofy Leadership Activity

7.The Power of Story
“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”
a.Every Leader is telling a story about what he/she values. We judge ourselves based on our intentions… Others judge us based on our behaviors.
b.Character of a Leader

The other class I am taking is a very popular one! It was already filled 15 minutes after registration opened!

EXPLORING DISNEY HERITAGE

Take a journey back in time to discover the roots of the Walt Disney Company. Learn about Walt Disney the man and his vision by exploring historical milestones.

2.One Man’s Dream
Team scavenger hunt activity at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
a. This is a self guided tour back to the nostalgic days of Hollywood
b.Students work in teams to identify replicas of actual Hollywood buildings
c.Walk through a life size timeline to identify moments and artifacts from Walt Disney History
d.Complete questionnaire as team and submit to facilitator for review

3.Walt & Roy: The Original Dream Team
a.Historical look at the creative genius of Walt Disney and the financial business savvy of Roy Disney
b.Creativity and the cost of doing business is a difficult balancing act, but critical to our organization success in the past, present and future

7. Bringing it all to Life
a.Mickey’s Magical Milestones
b.Storytelling Tour of Magic Kingdom

NOT ONLY AM I GOING TO CLASS AT DISNEY BUT I WILL BE GOING TO THE PARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: I am so excited!!

Both classes have a wrap up day that helps us figure out how to include these classes on our resumes and how to integrate them in to future job interviews.

I am so excited and happy with the classes I got. I plan on taking as many of the free seminars as possible and I am so excited!!

Those classes sound awesome! Man, I would love to be able to just take them! That's so exciting though that you're able to learn all of those things during the DCP. They're going to be so useful for more than just Disney. :thumbsup2

I am really excited about them!

Agreed! I can't wait to start them! This may be the first time I am actually excited for school :lmao:

I'm loving your DCP report, it's bringing back memories! I did the CP during 2008, I was merchandise at POR and POFQ. I had such an amazing time! :yay: I can't wait to hear more about your adventures! Wow, I didn't know that they now require a $300 fee for the program. :scared:

Thank you!

That is so cool! I am glad you had a good time!

Yeah it's $200 for a processing fee and $100 for a program fee.

 I've read and am reading your current trip report now. I can't wait to follow along on this journey. Congratulations on being accepted.

I'm late to the party but can't wait to join in! Congrats!!! Going back to read now :goodvibes

Wow, talk about making learning fun!!! I would consider paying for these as part of a regular trip!

And a section on Walt AND Roy? Oh man I would be all over that!

Those "classes" (I can't not put the quotes... they sound too fun to be called normal classes) sound like a blast!
I'm particularly intrigued by "Goofy Leadership Activity".

And the whole EXPLORING DISNEY HERITAGE class just sounds like something visitors would pay a lot of money to do!
Are you kidding me? Scavenger hunt, Disney history, Mickey's milestones...
and a freaking Storytelling tour of the Magic Kingdom???

Sign me up, too!

All caught up! Wow, I am both jealous and very excited for you!!! :goodvibes what an experience you will have soon!!!:cloud9:

I can't wait!

I can't wait to hear more about the brothers working relationship! You usually only hear about Walt so being able to find out more about Roy will be very cool!

Agreed! Plus I don't have assignments or anything in them so they are more of workshops in my mind. I am intrigued by that too!

I know! I was hoping to do some tours while I was there so being able to go to class and get one is awesome! I will be sure to take a ton of pics and report back to you all!

All caught up! Wow, I am both jealous and very excited for you!!! :goodvibes what an experience you will have soon!!!:cloud9:

Thank you!

I am still in shock that I get to do all of this!

How awesome are those classes?! I bet you're going to absolutely LOVE 'em!

I know!!! I can't wait to go to class :rotfl:

I'm a little late joining in, but I'm here and caught up! Congratulations on the DCP, I'm so excited to hear all about it!

wow, those courses sound great and definitely a way to take even more advantage of your time there!

The exploring Disney heritage one especially sounds amazing to me - but the leadership one sounds great too and is probably the better one as far as value on your resume

Making a bucket list is a great idea. Definitely think taking a day to do "lesser" things at the parks would be cool and also taking time to explore the different resorts (like checking out the different food courts or trying to see Wishes from as many different places as possible) might be good ideas

I'm very excited about them!

I think both will be amazing! Disney heritage I mainly took just to reinforce my love of Disney and to help me realize just what an amazing company I'm working for!:goodvibes

Those are great ideas! I definitely want to see wishes from the poly beach!

Joining in! So excited to live vicariously through your adventures:upsidedow! Congratulations on getting accepted into the program.

I love that Minnie top in the very first picture of you! Can you share where it was purchased? I'll have to start looking at Hot Topic due to your recommendation!

Congrats! I did attractions on 2 of my CPs (one at TSM, and one at GMR- that one was a blast!)
