We have an extra seat and be willing to include you, only catch is that you have to put up with a 5 year old and a 6 mos old.

:lmao: I don't know.... can you handle another one in the car? my wife says I act like an eight year old. :lmao:

i'm the youngest of five. three brothers and a sister. I spent some time in a car with other kids. I was the one in the early 70s, sitting in the back/back of the station wagon, facing the back window in a steel frame and a big door handle, teeth level, sitting next to my sister with not a seat belt in sight. the a/c worked real well back there under the rear picture window with the sun beating in. :lmao: oh, and if the steel, chrome bumper didn't stop the car that rear ended you, you feet were only inches away to put a stop to the distracted driver behind you. :lmao:
these kids now days have noooooooooooooo idea how good they have it. :lmao: geez my dad would yell at me for standing up on the back seat so I can see out the windshield because I blocked his view out of the rear view mirror. he told me to move over to one side or the other if I wanted to stand!!!!!! :lmao:
anyone else grow up in the 60s/70s and share the same scars! :lmao:

Departed home last night at 9:15 p.m.

Light traffic locally and on I-95. Light showers on and off until north of Baltimore. Prepared sandwiches, snacks and beverages consumed on the drive.

Crossed into DE at 10:55 p.m.; MD at 11:12 p.m.; VA at 1:06 a.m.; NC at 4:02 a.m. (three hour break/nap); SC at 10:07 a.m.; GA at 1:26 p.m.; FL at 3:30 p.m.

We are staying overnight in Palm Coast in order to see friends in Port Orange tomorrow morning.

Then we'll drive to a HI DTD for an extra-day early arrival (we'll go to Epcot and DTD).

On Sunday, we check into the GFR in the morning.

[Note: We left home at 46-degrees; we checked in the current hotel at 84-degrees]. Ah. :yay:

High gas prices: $3.63 and $3.59.

That's it for now.

All the best. :thumbsup2

We are leaving in a little over a week. I'm a little nervous about this drive bc we are leaving a day earlier than we usually would and at a totally different time. I am a total creature of habit and am more comfortable when I know what to expect. I usually know exactly where we stop for the night even same hotel.
We decided to leave right after school this time to get a head start and be there a day early. This sounds great and all but it means I have no idea where we'll end up stopping.
We will also have our dog which I always make hotel ressies for at pet friendly hotel. Not sure how that will work out either. I hope we can get a room.
So we're leaving around 4 and hoping to get to VA ( preferably past Richmond) before we need to stop for the night. I'm guessing around midnight.

I know not many people travel with their pets but we bring him whenever we drive now since we have the condo.
Does anybody have any advice?

im with you. :thumbsup2 traffic is going to be a lot more leaving that time of day and there are a lot of unknowns. we have a hamster so I cant help you with the pet friendly hotels but I can see where that can be a problem. is there a hotel chain you tend to use? I use Hampton inn if I don't drive straight thru. what I have done is make a resi about where I think im going to be and I have up to 6pm to cancel with the charge. I have even called and had my resi changed for further down the road in mid afternoon and there was no problem. im not sure about being pet friendly, I have just never looked.

Yeah I'm still not sure what to do about the hotel ressie. The problem with cancelling is I don't know if I'll know by 6:00. We always stop in NC usually at the Holiday inn in Fayetteville ( pet friendly).

Thank you!

After visiting our friends in Port Orange (exit 256 on I-95), we returned to I-4 where lots of construction is going on when you first get on the interstate. Of course, there was the obligatory slow down around mm 75, but after a mile or so things sped up and we made it to the HI DTD for our first unofficial night. We took a cab to the Beach Club (save lots time from the bus journey) and did a 360-degree stroll around the world showcase, tasting lots of food and beverages and enjoying complete sets by Off Kilter, Mo Rockin' and (at the Flower Power concert stage): Paul Revere and the Raiders. Took the bus from hell from the Beach Club to DTD where we spent a few hours before walking back to the HI DTD. Tomorrow morning: we drive to the GFR for our check in! :drive:

After an extended rough winter with lots of snow, it was great to experience sunny weather and 84-degrees! :cool1:

All the best. :thumbsup2

that's true...... 6pm you will only be on the road two hours. we use to try to leave 1pm or 3pm also to get a head start (and because I have ants in my pants :lmao:) but what was happening for us is we would leave at 3pm, sit in traffic and make it to Virginia. get a hotel (late) and of course end up sleeping till 8am and hit all the traffic all over again. now, we come home from work, eat,do last second packing and loading and get to bed around 6:30pm. we get up around 12:30-1am amd hit the road. by the time any rush hours start, im in the hills of Virginia and there really isn't any rush hour traffic.
Thank you!

Yeah that's exactly what I'm afraid of. Oh well I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

We arrived at the Grand Floridian this morning.

No construction delays on I-4, just a short slowdown around Universal.

Today's transportation so far: monorail to the MK, People Mover, XP-37 cruiser, doom buggy and PotC boat! Ah!

All the best. :thumbsup2

Starting our drive from upstate NY Friday at noon... today's checklist was
- oil change
- clean floor mats
- vacuum pickup truck
- decide not to put rubber mats back and stay with carpet for comfort
- clean out all storage bins
- load the dog crate and beach stuff
- packed all kitchen stuff
- packed all beach stuff
- packed all dog stuff
- packed all electronics and papers
This evening and the next 3 is laundry and clothes packing!

We'll be stopping just north of Charlotte NC (Huntersville) on the way down. We're renting a house since this is a somewhat short notice trip (for us!)

We are leaving next Thursday from south jersey area around 12p. Planning on beating all DC and DC to Richmond traffic this time. We plan to drive straight through but if we need to stop we will. What's a good rest area between Savannah and Jacksonville if we wanted to pull off and catch some zzz's for a couple hours?
We have not driven straight through these last couple years but we dont want to pay for a hotel room that we might only be in for a few hours either.

thanks!!

See didn't even think of that. Thanks!!
We could make that if we don't hit any traffic. Usually takes us 12 hrs to Savannah and then about another 2 hours to the GA/FL line? That would be around 2am if we leave NJ at 12noon? May try for that :thumbsup2
