Ugh! Slow-mo monorail from MK to GFR. Frequent mid-point stops; long time at the Poly station. And only a few dozen folks on the entire monorail! It took 20+ minutes to make our loop. Ugh!

Today's monorail gets the WDW bus award!

All the best. :thumbsup2

have a safe trip home today! :thumbsup2

Question for the group. Has anyone done the drive from Dallas to Los Angeles? I looked it up the other day and it's only about 300 miles further each way than Dallas to Orlando. Staying "offsite" at DLR isn't a detriment to the visit like at WDW so we are considering driving there for Thanksgiving week. Might be able to go straight through but I'd rather break it up into two days. My wife wants to go straight through though.

Looks like there are two ways to go, south along I-10/20 and north along I-40. My concern with south is being that close to the border. My concern with north is driving through Flagstaff in the fall.

Any tips would be appreciated.

What is your tradition for meals/food the night before vacation? (if you have any) We're leaving early in the morning to start our drive. We're going from MD to Augusta, GA the first day, and then Augusta to Orlando the next morning.

We order pizza and get an extra one for snacking on the way down. You need the right pizza to eat cold though.

here you go.......................

she still refers to you as BC. ;)
she has this along with the others in her college program scrap book. :thumbsup2

she misses being a cast member. (well, once a cm always a cm in disneys eyes) I have read over the years the way Disney treats there people and I can only speak for her, they treated her with nothing but respect and management, upper and lower treated her like family. now that she is starting this new chapter that she has the same experiences. ( or somewhat close to it) :lmao: I said it before and not just because she is my kid but I have a new respect for front line cms. they are a special group of people in more ways then one. people think being a cm has to be the easiest job in the world, heck, who wouldn't want to go to work in the mk everyday.
but it is a tuff job. you deal with thousands of people a day. some at there best and some at there worse. your task is to make them happy and have a magical experience. I know I couldn't do it. :lmao:

I'm confused. I missed something. She's at WDW but not a CM?

One year ago on this day, I was on the road to WDW. Just had to come here and be nostalgic. No trips in our future unless dh's health improves. Spent way too much time in the room on the last trip. It makes me smile to read all your trip planning and reports, so here I am, living vicariously through you folks.

glad your here!! hope dh gets better soon. I had the "old" vhs tapes out today of dd first trip to wdw. geez, somebody had a lot more hair and was about 35 pounds lighter. :lmao: its amazing what 21 years will do to you. :sad2:

we are the same as mjmyer. work till 5pm, pizza (plain, no garlic knots :lmao:)

I don't eat much during the day while on the road just snacks.

WDW Round-Trip Drive #31 completed!

We had a spectacular stay at WDW's GFR; however, we had to depart.

Departed Disney Hess at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014. I-4 to I-95.

State border crossings:

GA: 11:16 a.m.
SC: 12:54 p.m.
NC: 4:13 p.m.
VA: 6:52 p.m. (major acccident around mm 3 southbound. A brief rubber-neck slowdown going north; additional traffic problems southbound I-95, especially north of Richmond where lots of construction was underway). Cracker Barrel meal break (the bill was less than V&A's on Saturday night). Inspired by dvczerf's straight-home drive, we carried on.
MD: 10:33 p.m. (absurd $8.00 toll)
DE: 12:31 a.m.
NJ: 12::53
home: 2:23 a.m.

2,178 miles driven (35 in WDW).

We plan to drive again in August. :drive:

All the best. :thumbsup2

welcome home bc!! glad you had a great trip and made it home safely! :thumbsup2
looks like the price of gas is just about the same up and down the east coast....... high!

One more tax client tomorrow and we'll be on our way to FL on the 16th.
Can't believe the weather here - it was 80 degrees yesterday and snow today - glad to be getting away from it.
Also glad to get away from these ridiculous gas prices - it's over $4.00 a gallon.

70 days until we leave! We're going to stop at Daytona for a couple days on the way.

Today I tried to link our APs and order magic bands. Unfortunately DDs' friend who is going with us (and went last summer with us) went for 2 days last month with her grandma and had to create an account for her AP. So... I can't order our customized magic bands until we figure out how to link our accounts with friends and family or something like that. Bummer.

BTW- I paid $3.85 for gas today in CT

Love the detail! I'm the same with time travel and state crossings!
We will be leaving for our 2nd driving trip to Disney within the next few weeks. Last year it took us 17 hrs. straight through from SE Pa.
How was Route 95? Construction, delays.....anything to be concerned about?
Also, any places (towns or exits) you would NOT stop at in case we need a "rest" stop, especially in the middle of the night?

Construction southbound on I-95 north of Richmond looked brutal at night; and a single lane heading north outside the Baltimore Tunnel slowed us down a bit, although it was late in the evening.

The rest stops just over the state borders seem safer than the others; however, the best one in VA is about about 45 minutes over the border.

All the best. :thumbsup2
