Food and Wine

What is a must try snack at Food and Wine Festival?

Well, it changes every year, but the Belgian Waffles are a staple and always a good call - there is typically a fruit one and a chocolate one. If the Beer Cheese Soup is on offer near Canada, that's another good one.

I keep seeing the fry flight highly recommended at the Fry Basket and the tostada from Mexico. Every time I listen to a podcast or watch a YouTube video I see these items getting really positive reviews.

Try whatever looks good to you; everyone's taste is different. I'm reading the above suggestions, and most were hugely disappointing to me. I don't like the Belgium waffle (it's more of an American waffle, not a Bruges or Liege waffle), the Fry Flight was way to salty, the cheese soup has been too watered down, and the filet has always been too small and never a real tender cut in my experience. I guess I skip some of the "most popular" items now.

My favorites this year are the Spicy Salmon Donburi, the Potato and Pea Samosa, and the grilled Pork Shoulder Lettuce Wrap.

The shrimp scampi at Coastal Eats was probably our favourite of everything we tried.

There used to be a cheese soup and pretzel combo near England (maybe an Ireland booth IIRC?). That was one of the best cheese soups I've had.

Baked Scampi Dip at Coastal Eats, the Fry Flight, Kalua Pork Slider and Spam Musibi Nigiri from Hawaii, and the Taco from Mexico were among our family's favorites. We also enjoyed the Wings from Brew-Wing; they were a great value if you enjoy wings.

I can’t wait to try the raclette sandwiches ...raclette is just so yummy

We love everything from the Ireland booth (Seafood Pie, Irish Sausage, & Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake) and the Hawaii booth (Pork Slider, Musubi Nigiri, & Passion Fruit Cheesecake) this year! Hops & Barley booth (American Adventure location) is also very good, and we've gone back there for the Crab Slider and the Carrot Cake multiple times.

We are hoping the food is better for this event than the holiday one in 2020. We didn’t care for the food. We have amazing food in Houston from being a melting pot area. It’s cheap and oh so good!!
