Flowers, Segways & DIS Meets, Oh My! - Updated 10/26, Final Thoughts-FINALLY!

Speaking of your TR, when are you going to get started?????? You've got lots of dedicated readers waiting oh so patiently........ :rolleyes1

I know, I know!! :goodvibes I've been very consumed with getting my Photopass pictures edited and it has taken FOREVER!!! That site is sooo slow and it kept logging me out, freezing up, etc. I FINALLY finished it all just a little while ago! So the TR is next, I promise!!!

Oh my!! I'm not sure how I would react to a kid throwing up on the bus!! Ewww!! But your food at the Poly looks heavenly!!! And I'm right with you on the creme brulee--if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it!! YUM!!! And the Wishes Dessert Party looks amazing! Sooo much food--my mouth is watering just reading about it!

Great update! Dinner looks wonderful. I love the Kona Cafe. You also got some great pictures of the lobby. Beautiful flowers! Glad you decided to take a cab instead of dealing with the Disney transportation.

The dessert party looks like a lot of fun.....so many choices......so little room in the stomach. Nice fireworks, too.

Is it just me or are those trees in front of the castle starting to get too big????

I love your food porn shots....particularly of the creme brulee. I'm a big brulee fan as well and that Kona brulee is something I'm going to have to try!

Your pictures of the Dessert Party had me reliving our night there. And I was amused to see that you didn't care for the mango shooter either.

Great fireworks pictures :thumbsup2

I have just caught up on your TR - sounds like you had a great time so far! :)

Ahhh the lapu lapu heaven in a pineapple:drinking1 That is my favorite Disney drink partly for the presentation but mostly for the yummy taste.

The dessert party looks fabulous. Glad you guys were able to try so many things. That pic of you two in front of the castle is great. I love Wishes.

Yuck to the throwing up kid. I feel bad for the kid, of course, but it just skeeves me out so much! You'd think that if the kid threw up already, they'd get plastic bags or something just in case. Then if the kid threw up, as he did, at least they'd be somewhat prepraed for it. But I think the bus driver could've at least masked his frustration. I mean, the little kid is sick on vacation!

Seeing pics of the Poly makes me sad now that I know Weird and I will not be able to go there for our Disneymoon. We probably won't be able to go for an anniversary trip either. But then I saw the Kona pic, and I think when we do eventually make our way there, we should stop by to explore the resort and eat at one of the restaurants! We can get a little bit of Poly.

I love the little castle glitter things on the table at the Wishes party!

loved your update, definitely putting Kona on my to try list;
I've never heard of the wishes dessert party! that is right up my alley - love desserts, love fireworks, what a great combo!:)

Great update. Your scallops and shrimp at Kona look great...I'm tempted to switch from breakfast to dinner...but Mark would probably kill me. :lmao:

I think you got great fireworks photos and the one of Tink is not bad at all (better than a lot I've seen, including my own).

Great photopass pic of you and Mom.

The scallops & shrimp at Kona is really, this is the 2nd time I've gotten them and loved them both times!

I still need to work on the right settings for the fireworks shots, but they are getting better :thumbsup2

What a great evening! I absolutely love your pictures from the Polynesian. They really make me want to be there right now. It is such a beautiful resort. And the last picture of Wishes is really cool!

The Poly is so pretty isn't it? It just feels relaxing, I think it would be a great place to stay - someday I'll get there!

I love Kona! We have eaten there for dinner the past few times. Speaking of which, I am now starving and drooling after looking at both your dinner pics and those aboslutely yummy dessert photos.

I know, I should have put a disclaimer on the update to make sure no one read it on an empty stomach!

LOVE Kona!!! That's one of my favorites too! I got the same dessert as you did, the banana creme brulee.......however, I don't remember it having chocolate on the bottom. Maybe that's new??? Anyhow, it makes it that much more enticing! YUM!

The Wishes Dessert Party looked nice! Is it only offered on certain evenings? The desserts looked fabulous! :yay:

I love Kona too, everyone always raves about 'Ohana, but I'll take Kona over it anyday! Chocolate makes everything better :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure that the dessert party is a nightly event. They did a trial run for it last year and it was so popular that they brought it back, it was just starting back up when we went and I was so excited to book it. It is honestly fairly reasonable too, I don't remember the exact amount, but I know it was less than $50 for the two of us. You can book it by calling Disney dining.

YUM!! This post has made me sooo hungry! We LOVE Kona too, but have only been for breakfast so I definitely want to try a lunch or dinner one of these days :)

I need to try Kona for breakfast! I've had breakfast ADRs twice and had to cancel at the last minute, but I really want to try it someday.

That poor kid throwing up on the bus! :sad1:

You trend-setter, you, with your Lapu Lapu! Dinner looks delicious!

Love all your pictures from the Poly -- so pretty and tropical! :lovestruc

The dessert party sounds like a lot of fun!

Yeah, I felt bad for the kid on the bus. Grandma was totally unprepared too. I gave her some wet one's to at least be able to clean him up a bit.

I thought it was really funny that everyone started ordering the Lapu Lapu - I'm sure no one was disappointed, they are yummy!

Someday I'll stay at the Poly :cloud9:

Thanks for the stroll around the Polynesian this evening.
I would like to have had a little white chocolate cheesecake as I was walking along, though. :rolleyes1

Glad you enjoyed the stroll, maybe you'll get to take a real one this next week! :thumbsup2

Well at least that is done! I know what you mean about that site being a pain - it's very slow, they really need to update their server!

Oh my!! I'm not sure how I would react to a kid throwing up on the bus!! Ewww!! But your food at the Poly looks heavenly!!! Like I said, after our transportation mishaps and then the kid throwing up on the bus, I'm starting to think that renting a car might not be such a bad thing.

If I ever do the dessert party again we'll eat our TS meal for lunch and then just have a snack to hold us over until the party - we were soooo full!

Is it just me or are those trees in front of the castle starting to get too big????

We weren't about to try the buses again after the night before  It was well worth the cab fare not to have to deal with that!

Exactly - so little room in the stomach! I really wish I could have eaten more, but I was stuffed!

I didn't notice the trees being big at first, but after you said that I went back and looked - they are quite large aren't they? The angle that we were watching the fireworks from probably had something to do the trees blocking the castle too though, they probably aren't as intrusive watching from Main Street.

I love your food porn shots....particularly of the creme brulee. I'm a big brulee fan as well and that Kona brulee is something I'm going to have to try!

I've made it a personal goal to try every variety of creme brulee that WDW has

That mango shooter was nasty - I didn't like it at all! That was the only thing I tried that I didn't like though.

I have just caught up on your TR - sounds like you had a great time so far! :)

Thanks for reading! We did have a really good time :goodvibes

This was my first time to try the Lapu Lapu, it won't be the last one I have I can tell you that - yum!

Wishes gives me the warm fuzzies all over :goodvibes

I did feel bad for the kid, he couldn't help it, but it was still gross!

Awwww, sorry I made you sad with my Poly pics. You'll get there someday, even if it is just to explore the resort, or you could even do a short stay there, like a couple of nights and then switch to a cheaper resort - something to think about.

loved your update, definitely putting Kona on my to try list;

Thanks! Kona is one of my favorite Disney restaurants :thumbsup2

The dessert party is relatively new, they did it for a few months last year and it was such a success that they brought it back this spring. I hope they keep it around, it was great to sample so many yummy desserts, but even better to be able to relax and not have to fight the crowds on Main Street for the show!

A couple of things I want to share here this morning.....

First, we hit a milestone in our house this week. Justin is now officially taller than me :sad2: He's been waiting and waiting for this day and I've been dreading it - my little boy is growing up! We measured ourselves just a few weeks ago, because it's that big of a deal - he wanted to check all the time  - anyway, we were about dead even. I figured my days were numbered and by the end of the summer he would have passed me. Well imagine my surprise when yesterday morning Don was looking at the two of us standing by each other and he commented that it looked like Justin had grown. So, out came the measuring tape and sure enough, he's taller and by a full inch! He grew a full inch in a matter of a few weeks  He's 5'7" and an inch taller than me..........*sigh*, I wish this growing up thing would slow down!

Second, I've been in a bit of a Disney depression lately. I got a great pin, then an even better AP discount offer and I really wanted to take the boys over Labor Day, but Don was dead set against it - no way, not happening, not spending the money :headache: It makes it even worse that I have no idea when I'll get back, he is truely DONE going to WDW.

Third, and this is the good thing, I do think I have him talked into a cruise for next summer! He told me to check out other cruise lines, not just Disney, sure yeah, whatever you say babe  I showed him and the boys all the plans for the Dream and I think it's a go! We just have to decide on the date. Baseball will probably be a big deciding factor in when we go. We want to do the 5 night cruise that has two stops at Castaway Cay. I don't think the one in June will work because that is right around state tournament time, July would probably interfere with the World Series, which brings us to the beginning of August. I'm not sure I want to go that late, since the later you get in the summer the deeper you get into hurricane season. Hopefully we'll figure it out soon and I can get a ticker back in my siggie!

Wow...Justin is officially taller than you!!! :scared1:

Sorry that Don is done with Disney.........keeping my fingers crossed that you get to book the Dream! :yay:

I hear you; I was so depressed when our youngest (Markie) passed me up in height. It's still hard to believe that they are both adults (although Markie still acts like a kid--I wonder who he takes after??? :rotfl:

I think you need to start calling Don "Grumpy" and we'll call Mark "Sleepy" or "Happy" or something.

A cruise sounds great. I've always wanted to do one and Mark and I are planning to do this in 2013 when it will be our 30th wedding anniversary and his 60th birthday.

Comments in red after each section.

Great update Michelle! Where is the dessert party held? Your location looks similar to where we sat for Wishes, which was in the Rose Garden. Tink came right overhead too, which is so neat, isn't it?

It looks like you and your mom sure got your fill of yummy food and snacks that day. Yum, yum!

I'm sorry Don is so against going back. My husband has never been and honestly has no interest. I've come to live with that fact and know I will be taking the kiddos alone. Oh well, he's the one missing out!! ;)

I am enjoying reading this TR! How fun to be on a vacation with just Mom! Your pics are wonderful! I really like the ones of the Gorillas! We didn't go and see them when we went, and I don't really know if we even knew about them, but we are going for our 2nd trip in 2 months and I will definitly look for them. Thanks!

So, if you aren't going back to Disney where will your family go for vacation? ooh, I hope that doesn't sound nosie...

I can't wait to catch up to where you are in your TR...maybe tomorrow....I am enjoying it!
