Flowers, Segways & DIS Meets, Oh My! - Updated 10/26, Final Thoughts-FINALLY!

Amazing zoo pictures! I love the baby chimp and your chimp. That is great. We were actually just at our zoo on Father's Day because dads get in for free. :)

We've got a membership to our zoo so we get unlimited entrance for a year. We tend to avoid it on days like Father's Day when it's really busy. Of course, we were at the ballpark on FD and couldn't have gone anyway! Hope you guys had a good time.

Subscribing! I took a trip with just me and my mom for college spring break in 2005 and LOVED every minute of it. I always joke and say that she is more fun to go with then my husband. He's kinda like your husband, and at the last mention of Disney told me "we don't need to go back there for a while". :confused3 Oh well, I can wait until 2012 for the all new Fantasyland anyways!

Great report so far! Keep it coming!

Thanks for posting and :welcome: I enjoy traveling with my mom, we've taken a couple of 'just us' trips, they are lots of fun!

I think my DH would be quite content to never take another trip to WDW :sad2:

I'm excited to see all the Fantasyland changes, but I doubt I'll get to really experience them since my boys are already of the opinion that they are getting too old for Fantasyland.

I'll have the second part of our MK day coming up later today, stay tuned!

Love the zoo pictures -- I love going to the zoo (we're going to do that one day while Mark is recuperating from his surgery if he is up to it).

The baseball pics are great too. You may see the light at the end of the tunnel...but it will be spring before you know it. ;)

I enjoy going to the zoo too, I just love animals they are so much fun to watch!

Ha! Don't remind me Kathy! Actually we'll only get about a week and a half off, Jared starts football the first week of August.......

We left off with Mom and I in Tomorrowland and ready for lunch. We decided to trek back across the park to eat. We stopped to take some pictures of the statues around the hub - so cute!

Then to Liberty Square we went

IMG_3985.jpg

For our lunch at Columbia Harbour House - there was an Anchor's Aweigh sandwich calling my name!

IMG_3991.jpg

This is without a doubt one of my favorite sandwiches in all of WDW. I'm not normally a big tuna fish eater, but for some reason I love this!

IMG_3986.jpg

Mom got the fried shrimp and fries, I tasted her shrimp and thought it was quite tasty. I was expecting it to be sort of greasy and it wasn't at all.

IMG_3987.jpg

My dessert was boring - just a chocolate chip cookie. Mom had the apple crisp

IMG_3988.jpg

After lunch we stopped by the Hall of Presidents, the next show was about to start so we hung around to watch.

IMG_3992.jpg

I saw this for the first time in December and was sorry that I had missed it on my previous trips. It's not something that makes it onto my 'must do' list for every trip, but it's so well done, not to mention it's a great place to get out of the heat and sit down for awhile! Mom agreed that it was definitely worth our time to see it.

After HoP we took a picture by the Liberty Bell

IMG_3995.jpg

Then took the shortcut by the restrooms into Adventureland. We stopped first at the Jungle Cruise, it was getting more crowded after lunch and the wait was about 30 minutes, but we could get a FP with a return time about 45 minutes away - well that was a no brainer, we grabbed the FPs! We then headed over to ride Pirates, the wait here wasn't bad at all, maybe 15 minutes or so.

IMG_4000.jpg

We looked around the POTC gift shop a bit. We still had some time to kill before our ride on Jungle Cruise, so we grabbed a Dole Whip to share and found a nice spot of shade to sit in and enjoy it. Sorry, no pic - I was worried it would melt if we didn't eat it right away! Before we knew it, it was time for our cruise.

I just love this queue, so many funny signs!

Continued in the next post......

Our captain was Tommy. I had told Mom in advance to listen closely to what he had to say because she might find some of it amusing....

IMG_4009.jpg

Mom caught most of the corny jokes and giggled right along with me. I also took a few pictures

We then decided that it was time to go hit up those attractions that never have much of a wait. First up was Mickey's Philharmagic - if there is a better 3D show anywhere I'd love to see it. I love how it incorporates so many different Disney films and how you can smell the pie and how the brooms throw water on you and how you see little kids hands reaching up to grab the different objects coming at us, really I love everything about it!

A couple random castle shots

IMG_4027.jpg

IMG_4029.jpg

Next up was the TTA. This is a great ride just to take a load off and you get some great views of Tomorrowland in the process.

IMG_4038.jpg

I still love this attraction, but I have to say, I'm so disappointed that they changed the spiel. It was so different and fun before, now it's just an advertisement for Tomorrowland. :sad2:

Mom and I were about to hit the wall now and we decided that we most definitely weren't going to make it until dinner without a break to get out of the heat. Before leaving we decided to hit up one more attraction, one with air conditioning!

IMG_4042.jpg

After that we headed for the exits. As we neared Town Square we saw that the afternoon parade was just starting and there were amazingly plenty of places that we could have stopped to watch it from, but like I said we were hot and needed a break, so to the bus stop we went.

Coming Up: Dessert anyone???

Good job to Jared on his baseball accomplishments!! :) He looks like a great catcher Michelle! Our summer is full of activities like yours is and I'm sort of craving a week of nothing besides sleeping in and going to the pool. That sure isn't happening here though, sorry to say. ;)

I really want to go eat at CHH on our next trip. I'm not a tuna fish fan though so something else will have to strike my fancy. I just have read such great things about this CS place. I'm glad you ended with the Carousel of Progress. I adore it!!! :) Did you leave singing a tune in your head? "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow....."

I just discovered your TR and I've been having a ton of fun reading it!

I just recently took a trip with my mom in March and it was such a great bonding experience (DBF thinks my love of Disney is nuts...)

I have to say I love this photo:
Such a unique angle of the castle. Do you remember where you were standing when you took it?

I can't wait to hear more! Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you :goodvibes

Great update!!! :goodvibes I love to walk around Liberty Square. It is so wonderful :lovestruc CHH is our favorite little lunch spot!! I will have to try the tuna you are raving about. I got the shrimp last time and I agree...it was really, really good!! I live in Lousiana where we (use to :sad1:) eat fresh Gulf shrimp all the time. We enjoyed CHH's shrimp so much!

I am anxious to see where you get your desserts from! Also, did you and your mom both wear orange on purpose  That is so something I would make my mother do!

What a great day at the Magic Kingdom! Love all your shots from The Jungle Cruise -- it must be a Jungle Cruise kind of day! I love the shot of the temple that you got!

Mmmm, that Anchors Aweigh sandwich looks very tasty!

Great update! :thumbsup2 I can't think of a better way to end an afternoon than in CoP. Now you've got me singing, "There's a great, big, beautful tomorrow....." :goodvibes

Another great update, Michelle. Love the pictures of all the statues--especially Dumbo.

Dessert? Did you say dessert? Can't wait to hear what that was.

I love the statues at the castle-- they're so simple, but there's something about them that's so wonderfully Disney! Dumbo's my favorite!
I completely agree with you on Philharmagic-- I love getting to hear all of my favorite songs. Such a well done show.

Awesome update! So many great pictures - the little statues in the hub, the great pics of Jungle Cruise. I never even noticed those signs before. Cute!

I totally missed a ride on TTA this trip. That is so strange. Well, maybe not considering I missed 3/4 of the world showcase! :rotfl:

I love that tuna sandwich, too. Seems like a weird thing to eat at Disney world, but its very tasty.

I know how you felt when you just needed to get out of the heat. It can really start to get to you.

I had a great time reliving your day at MK. Thanks for sharing and for your wonderful the pictures!!

so funny that our updates were on the same wavelength yesterday

First, you pics from the zoo were great!! That baby chimp is so cute and your own litle chimp is pretty cute too :cutie: Congrats to your boys on their seasons. Will you finally get some free time this summer?

Second, your MK visit was great! I will make it to CHH one of these days, I swear. I adore JC and philharmagic is always amazing IMO!! I'm not sure I could have walked past an impending parade, I'm such a sucker!!

I was a bit behind, but now I'm all caught up! It helps that I'm pretty much hostage to the TV as I can't tear myself away from watching the World cup match. I have to say that I feel the same way about IASW. Love it! It just makes me so happy! You now have me all intrigued about the dolls and what the Kingdom Keepers says.

Awesome pics from the zoo. That baby chimp is A-DOR-A-BLE!

MICHELLE! THERE WAS A BUFFALO PICTURE IN YOUR ZOO PICS!!! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Ok ok ok ... I've recovered now that I've clicked to go to the next page. I think. Haha.

Mmm, now I'm craving some good ol' Columbia Harbour House food! I really want to try that tuna sandwich, but I'm guessing it's in mayo (?), and that wouldn't sit well with my stomach. I don't want to ruin a day at WDW because of that.

LOVE your elephant pic on JC! Oh, and the framing of the statue of the face by the temple. Haha, I don't know what to call it.

Awesome pics from the zoo!!! :thumbsup2 That baby chimp is SO cute! Snakes are definitely NOT my favorite, but you got an amazing picture!

I love your MK day.........however, I am so sad to hear about the TTA spiel......we'll get to experience it this summer, but I know I'll miss the old one. There's just something about "Paging Mr. Tom-Morrow...." :rotfl2:

Thanks Kelli, he is a pretty good little catcher. Obviously just being 9, he still has a lot to learn about the position, but he loves playing it!

Mom really liked her shrimp at CHH, and Justin had the fish and chicken in December and liked that, so there are definitely other good things to order on the menu :thumbsup2 If you go, go upstairs to eat, it's much less crowded and more peaceful up there!

I find myself singing "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" even when I'm not at Disney ;)

I just discovered your TR and I've been having a ton of fun reading it!

Hi there & :welcome: to my TR!

What's wrong with all these men not getting Disney?! I'm sooooo jealous of those who have Disney loving DHs & DBFs!

That picture was taken just after we left Philharmagic, walking towards the back side of the castle to take the little path that goes by the wishing well.

Thanks for posting!

Thanks Katie! CHH just seems less hectic to me than the other CS places at MK, I especially love the room upstairs. Ugggg, about what is happening with that stupid oil spill, it just makes me sick :sad2:

Mom & I did not both wear the same color shirt on purpose - in fact I really didn't even notice that we did that until I looked at the pictures!

What a great day at the Magic Kingdom! Love all your shots from The Jungle Cruise -- it must be a Jungle Cruise kind of day! I love the shot of the temple that you got!

Mmmm, that Anchors Aweigh sandwich looks very tasty!

We got lots done that day that's for sure!

I thought it was funny that Katie and I were both doing updates that included the Jungle Cruise on the same day  I think that picture of the temple is my favorite one from the entire ride.

Great update! :thumbsup2 I can't think of a better way to end an afternoon than in CoP. Now you've got me singing, "There's a great, big, beautful tomorrow....." :goodvibes

"Shining at the end of everyday..........." ;)

Another great update, Michelle. Love the pictures of all the statues--especially Dumbo.

Dessert? Did you say dessert? Can't wait to hear what that was.

Those statues are so cute, I think my favorite is Pinocchio & Jiminy.

Lots of dessert........I was on definite sugar overload by the end of this day!

I love the statues at the castle-- they're so simple, but there's something about them that's so wonderfully Disney! Dumbo's my favorite!
I completely agree with you on Philharmagic-- I love getting to hear all of my favorite songs. Such a well done show.

Dumbo is awfully cute, but I'm a big Jiminy fan so I love the one of him with Pinocchio :thumbsup2

I love all the songs in Philharmagic too! I try really hard not to sing along - I know no one wants to hear that!

Awesome update! So many great pictures - the little statues in the hub, the great pics of Jungle Cruise. I never even noticed those signs before. Cute!

I totally missed a ride on TTA this trip. That is so strange. Well, maybe not considering I missed 3/4 of the world showcase! :rotfl:

I know how you felt when you just needed to get out of the heat. It can really start to get to you.

The queue for JC is loaded with funny little signs! I love reading them.

Wow! You missed the TTA too? You need a do over where you can do what you want to do and not spend everyday playing hostess :thumbsup2

I know - making sure that I head to CHH to have a simple tuna sandwich does seem odd! Especially since I could have them daily at home and NEVER eat them!

Our bodies were not ready for that heat and we were just beat by mid afternoon most days!

I had a great time reliving your day at MK. Thanks for sharing and for your wonderful the pictures!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I know, I had to laugh when I read your update that included the JC cruise too!

I love watching that baby chimp, he is adorable!

What's free time???? Justin actually just has one more week of baseball and then the state tournament. Jared's season will go through late July - his last tournament starts on July 17th and could go through most of that week if they keep winning. We will have about a week and a half off before football starts.....

I'm programmed to bypass parades, my family NEVER wants to watch them so it wasn't too hard to keep heading out of the park!

Oooooo, you'll have to read KK. The books are actually written for kids (older kids, I think they would scare little ones), so they are an easy read. You'll never look at IASW the same way again!

Sorry Rachel! I totally forgot about your aversion to buffalo - I should have put a warning on the update!

The tuna sandwich is made with mayo so if that would upset your stomach I'd stay away from it. The other stuff on their menu is good too though!

Those elephants on JC are so cute! The temple one is my favorite from that group :goodvibes

I don't like snakes either! It gives me chills looking at them, but I can stay brave and take their picture as long as they are behind glass!

I read yesterday that Mr. Tom Morrow was back on the TTA! I hope that is true - you'll have to let me know for sure when you ride it this summer :thumbsup2
