hwo do they come off as arrogant?
when you go through the 24 arrests/charges/whatever and list each by name and what the charges were and the results...
when you never admit that maybe, just maybe Spikes wasn't right in what he did. Yep, it happens. But he got caught and it was blatant and it made national press.
(ftr, I think there should be a similar outcry against Ortman from Michigan who sucker-punced the Illinois guy in his "midsection". No, I'm not a Michigan fan).
We all think that fingers are unfairly pointed at our team, but just like there are bad fans for every school (and there are!), there are some bad apples for every team. Hopefully, their time in college football will teach them acceptable behavior, but it doesn't always happen. for all of our teams.
I don't think that b/c he asked for an additional 1/2 game suspension that makes him a good guy. I think the overwhelming negative press had an influence. A PR person, an AD, a coach probably pulled him aside and told him that Meyer can't change his mind, but maybe the kid could get some better press if he raises his hand, says he did it and takes additional punishment. Doesn't make Meyer look bad (or worse I should say, he already looks bad), and maybe helps the kid a little. Hopefully, he is truely (sp?) contrite.
(also ftr, I think Tebow is a upstanding kid. I also applaud Bradford for his actions. they aren't mutually exclusive.)
