Finding Nebo, Yes THAT Nebo, not the fish!

Diane, wish I could give you a hug. So sorry about your loss. Keep hearing that laugh. I can.

Diane & Steve, I'm sorry for your loss :sad1: Thank you for sharing some of your great memories of your friends.

Smidgy and Nebo, I'm so sorry to hear about your friends. What a wonderful tribute you just shared with us.

I'm sorry smidgy. I know how hard it is to lose a friend. My prayers are with you and her family.

Diane and Steve - so sorry to hear about your friends. :grouphug: I love the story you shared with us.

I hope things have settled down on your end. How's that baby doing?

Speaking of which, I have a box that's going out on Monday for you!

we're still here! nebo dropped something heavy on his bad foot; helping out a friend; he is in a LOT of pain. kinda hard to check out what is really going on with no health insurance(ah, but that's a totally dif. thread!:rotfl: )
honestly, I have participated in threads about health insurance, and a lot of these people are just downright nasty. even when you explain that you did everything right, worked for a company most of your adult life and wifey waitressed/bartended for extra money and the company went under... they STILL say..well, "your fault.. you made bad choices... your tough luck; you are looking for something for nothing"
we are just looking for our country to take care of those who worked most of their adult lives, and never sponged off anybody. not for free,... just AFFORDABLE , available health insurance (even if you have pre-existing conditions)..
so nebo is struggling with pain, and resisting going to a doctor, cause... any sliding scale health clinic is going to take one look at his foot and go "yikes!! what the heck is that??!!":lmao: after his earlier 5 foot surgeries (with all the pins and screws in there. .and.. refer him to the hospital for an MRI. um.. who will pay for that?.... nebo is morose......
I swear , I have voted , I won't say definetively republican, but mostly conservative, most of my adult life. we have mostly been your typical conservative family... hubby as the main bread winner, wife staying at home, but working part time to help out... you all know.. the American dream... the way things OUGHT to be... raise your own kids.. get involved in their lives, spend 10 years going to soccer games, baseball games, etc. involved in PTO, Awana, attending their student council award nights, newspaper award nights, etc. etc. ... blah, blah blah...
funny how when those kids grow up and you are in your 50's and suddenly the floor drops out from underneath you. and you realize your "high and mighty" ideals of "picking yourself up from your bootstraps" .. well now I would like to "eat some crow" and apologize to all those families who were struggling that I complained about in the past. I really think this country could do a lot more for the TONS of people who are uninsured.

ok, off my soap box now. that place we were looking at in florida... well they have been selling like hot cakes, and we are only hoping that the market will turn around in time for us to be able to sell our place for enough money for our move.

on a lighter note. little Kaylie is over a month old now. i guess she is very colicky, and cries a lot. we haven't been able to see her since she was born cause... I work EVERY DARN weekend!! but we see Jackson every weekend (well, nebo does, I get to see him for about an hour, then I have to go to work!)
I was all forlorn today, cause Todd left to get him, and I had to leave for work and knew I wouldn't see him this week:sad2: guess who walked into my restaurant?! Todd, with jackson!!!:cool1: he ran up to me... "grandma smidgy!!!" big hugs and kisses! I was SO HAPPY!!:dance3: they had a burger and a grilled cheese. and I got to spend some time with the little guy!
if business doesn't pick up ,after football season, I might ask for sundays off so I can have some time with my family.
all you neboites pray that steve's injuries are not serious, just bruises that will heal with time. that's what he is hoping for.
any how... what's going on with all you guys???

Sorry to hear all of that Smidgy! :sad1: Bruises can hurt worse than breaks (so the Dr tells me :rolleyes1 ) Hope Nebo feels better soon

I agree the whole health insurance thing needs to be fixed. I won't go into the long story, but I've seen it with my inlaws and have seen how it can ruin any family without warning :sad2:

It'll all turn around, maybe not as fast as we'd all like, but it'll turn around :grouphug:

Yikess, Smidgy, so sorry to hear about this. Poor Nebo! Hope things will get better for you guys very soon :grouphug:

smidgy - I feel your insurance woes!
right now me and my dad are the only ones with insurance in my family -
me because of my job, him because he's a vet.
my mom, sister and brother are all uninsured -
my sister and brother are both bipolar (my brother was just diagnosed a week ago!) and my mother is morbidly obese.
It's fun!
lemme tell ya!
my dad can't work because his health is so bad.
my brother started a new job today - he lost his previous one because of his mental breakdown.
they're just trying to hold on until my dad's disability and social security kicks in (hopefully!) in December.

And I'm thinking of voting Republican for the first time ever. :rotfl:
All over abortion. argh!
These are some weird times we live in.
sorry for the ramble.
I'm thinking of you and Nebo!

I'm voting for Mickey Mouse...

I'm not working yet either guys, I just saw a statistic on a jobsite I've been applying thru - 500,000 job searchers for 19,000 jobs :faint: thank GOD hubby has a half decent job - but now that it's winter and he works in the swimming pool industry, things are gonna get a little worse for us before they start to get better~

Sorry to hear about that too, Colleen. Times suck about now.
But the DOW picked up almost 900 points today, and the Fed is rumored to lower interest rates again, so maybe things will pick up. I think just having this whole election settled will take some jitters out of the economy (or hopeful thinking, at least...)

And wow, that is some scary and staggering statistic on the job hunter search.

So many things to worry about.

I vote for no worries, enjoying life, and being able to be responsible.

Hope that big box I sent out really helps out. Please post when you get it so I know you got it.

Did Steve drop a box on his fingers too? :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear about that too, Colleen. Times suck about now.

Thank you Marita...I like to think optimistically. I am hoping to have something steady by January - if not, I'll be going back to school (again) by then.

Steve, I hope your foot is feeling better. Sore feet suck! I have bunions and no insurance, so no foot surgery for me.

Diane and Steve -On one hand so sorry to hear about your friends, on the other hand, congratulations on the new grand-daughter and on one foot, so sorry to hear about nebo's foot.
