I've been watching this thread because I find it fascinating. Not anything I could do just because we tend to eat real healthy and it's expensive to eat that way. Plus I have 2 teenage boys! :lmao:

But I'm curious about something. Mommiepoppins, you always come in below the $10. but you are never feeding the whole family. Some of the kids or DH is always missing. Realistically, what's the budget like when you do have to feed them all? It may be helpful for the folks following here that have a larger family. If it was just me and a couple toddlers than yeah, it could be done probably, but what about the older kids? Don't they eat a lot?

Thanks. And please don't think I'm picking on you, I'm really just curious.

if my dh is home which he was on Sunday and I posted it, is about the same or maybe 2 $ more. Dh only likes stuff like sheapards pie. He eats pbj to. He is not picky or expensive. Now if he is on a diet he can add an extra 5 more per day. I try to eat helathy to dh is not crazy about helathy foods.:sad2: So we usually stay around 10-12 because of what he likes lots and lots of noodles. He just loves it.:rolleyes1.

Question. Around her kids eat free but only one kid per one paying adult and they must be under the age of 10. So how do you feed four kids for free with the two older being 14 and 10? Is that $11 for just the adult only or is it less and you are paying for a kid or two?

BTW ponderosa closed around here.

well kids eat free under 5 years old all the time. tonight all kids eat free. dd 14 is going to a friends while we are going out. All 3 kids eat for free. i have never had a problem:confused3 . You are correct if dd 15 was comming she would be extra, however she has plans tonight.

So again, not the whole family. I really want to see a full day where you feed the whole family 3 meals. It just seems like everyday some are missing or they are eating free somewhere. What's your budget like when you really feed the whole family.

I just think those who would like to follow this or get some tips would like to see realistic numbers. KWIM. Thanks.

It started to make more sense, when I saw that most people were not feeding a household for that amt. My family is usually around, plus extra kids. I like having the spares about, even though it greatly increases our budget! I am waiting for my neighbors to start posting...and bragging because they never have to feed their kids meals!:rotfl:

well I am still feeding a family of 5. My dd did eat bfast with us and will have snacks. I think it is realistic becuause I still have 4 kids to feed and my self. Most people have less than 4 children. .

We too have a family of 5. 3 kids, 5,7, and 10 y/o. Honestly, my kids could not survive on your menu choices.

You also seem to get ALOT of free meals. How does that happen?

But every post has some kids not eating or eating somewhere for free. It seems usually its you and the 2 little ones. BTW, I have 4 kids and I could never have fed them all for $10 a day. Kudos to you.

Your meal at Ponderosa may be $11..but you will still need to figure on tax and tipping for 5 people. What about beverages?

free meals aren't terribly difficult to find.

Many schools offer free lunches for kids throughout the summer, around here, you can pay $2 for the adult to eat the same food. Just show up, and all the kids are fed.

Tuesday nights we have various restaurants that offer free meals to kids, with a paying adult, my family is going to one tonight.

Growing up, our church had a free meal the second Sunday of every month, everyone brought a dish, and it was wonderful! I know that same church (I've moved... so I can't take advantage of it), offers a youth night once a week, free, kids come and play and have fun, and learn, and included is a dinner. Free.

That might be including a tip.. A meal at our local Ponderosa costs about $7-8 at dinner time. Water is free, that leaves money for a tip and tax.

Yeah, but that's only for one person. The kids are eating for free. I think alot of people would like to see where the kids are not eating for free for a better reference point for those of us who don't get free meals.

I would really like to find a way to cut down on my food budget.
