February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Well I think we are going to follow Tracy (DecemberRoses) and opt for the Maya Palms Resort. It sure looks alot more peaceful and more relaxing than Majahual Beach! I know it will cost more but think it will probably be worth it!!!

Welcome all newcomers!!! Welcome aboard!!! :cool1:

OK... I am going to attempt putting in my 2 cents although, I cannot keep up...
I THINK you can go to the pool as soon as you get on the ship. You will have time, I think the question is that how much time to you have before you need to do the ship drill, or dinner? I know th epool does close at at certain time also.... but do not know what time.

As far as the tipping goes.... it DOES actually tell you in the docs book. I am going to look through that tonight and start signing things. Do we just sign everything? What about the papers you can pull up on the Disney site? Which of those will we need to sign b/c? Do we sign one per person?

Hello again Rick... hope all is well for you over in Germany... when do you get back?

I also think the kids club are closed that first Sat... is that true? Or, maybe they have it opened to visit and get accquainted with staff.

Well, we are in single digits tomorrow and a guy from work lets me know every night how many MINUTES we have!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Hope alls Valentines Day was great.  I think my DH is getting excited. He was trying on cruise clothes at midnight!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Happy Day to all and I cannot wait to meet you. (Made my pins last night!!)

Good morning! I have a question. On Saturday, will there be enough time for the kids to go swimming after we embark? We're planning on being at the port by 11:00. This is the first time we are cruising with the kids Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Crissy
Hi Crissy
we took our DS(8 & 6 now) swimming right after lunch after we boarded last year probably right after boarding was allowed. The Drill was at around 4pm. So they had a good few hours to enjoy the pool. Then we looked around the ship again. At 3:30 or so everything shuts down to prepare for the drill. Staterooms often aren't available until around 2, we have gotten in our room a little earlier than this though. We brought a daybag on with us including swimwear for the kids as they won't just wear their suits as shorts- don't know why but they won't.
DH Rick told me that the kids clubs this year have open house hours/ family visiting hours all day Saturday but no checking your kids in until Sunday. At some point you need to stop in there to sign some forms and get your DD's their bracelets.

Hope this helps you plan better..
See you Real soon :cool1: :wave2:

Once we register them in the Oceaneers lab (Or club or whichever one :) can they go there as often as they want and whenever they want? THey dont have to schedule time do they? :confused3

You are saying the food is better in the dining rooms than at the buffet. This makes me rethink possibly eating in the dining rooms more often than just buffet. I was checking out the menu's though and they all seem to be the same food in each restaurant. Is this right? does it matter? And if you order room service.. will it come from a restaurant or the buffet? I can't see sitting in your room eating unless you dont like crowds.. or if you aren't feeling well. But if you can't get into Palo's and can order room service from them.. that would be cool :)

This is the first time we are cruising with the kids. In the past, Jim and I usually explored around the ship during the first few hours, but I'm not sure what the girls will want to do. I'm not sure how crazy and overwhelming it will be for the girls (8 and 5). When is the drill done? Is that before we leave or after? I just don't want to get the girls all excited about swimming and then the day be too crazy for them. I like to prepare them as much as possible as to what to expect. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Crissy

Hi Crissy, I can only assume, for this is our 1st Disney Cruise, But I'd say the Pool is a definet YES, (we are wearing suits & heading there around 1 & maybe meet some DIS Board friend) I am not sure how soon we can get on board, & outside of looking around, reserving last min excursions, or spas, Visiting the Kids area open house, Pool & Parrot Cat Buffett are the only things going on.
:confused3 I don't know on the Drill, but sure they'll do it
See ya soon

Yes, the kids and come and go as you please. If they are 7 or under, you (or another designated adult) must check them in and out. If they are 8 or 9 you have the option of letting the kids check themselves in and out. 10 and over, the kids do it themselves.

Hi Karen, the papers online & in the book are the same i believe
One for credit card charges to room & who you authorize
One for each person embarkment form
One for Oceaneers (if you didn't register online on who can pick up child
One if you have a minor & you aren't the gaurdian
One if you have any Medical issues tha the cres should know about
Did i miss any ??

From looking at past Navigators, the Kids Clubs are only open like noon to 3:15 for open house on Sat... I am not sure of normal hours during week..
They did say that they can be left while you go to shore, but beepers may not work the distance...

It is getting close

Wow, you have all been busy chatting since I last checked in yesterday!! I have been catering to my sick kids. :sad2: My DD4 finally got over some stomach bug that has kept her down for almost a week and just when I think things are back to normal, DD12 is sick as a dog today. Poor kids. Glad they are getting it now, though, and not on the boat!! I told DH this morning that if we are going to be getting it we have to get it now!!

I am going to be calling Disney today to order my Bon Voyage Stateroom package. Thanks to all who answered my question about that!! :goodvibes I am looking forward to seeing the girls' faces when they walk in and see the goodies!!

:welcome: to our newcomers!! We have a GREAT group here! I really can't wait to meet you all!! :yay:

Tracy... where do you find those tablets? :confused3

I've been told that Benedryl and Dramamine have some of the same ingredients.. but I don't see it on the ingredients label. But maybe it's just that they can have the same effects?? Good to know though! :thumbsup2

Sally--You for sure can find them at a natural grocer like Whole Foods, or Wild Oats, etc. I happened to get these from either the grocery store or Wal-Mart. I can't remember which right off. They are in a little yellow-orange box with a blue oval in the corner that says Hyland's.

Benedryl is also prescribed as a sleep aid. That is what I was given when I was having trouble sleeping after hurricane Katrina. I didn't want to get addicted to anything, so I took Benedryl. So that's why I can't take it or give it to the kids either. We would then spend the cruise sleepy anyway. LOL!
