Sally--You for sure can find them at a natural grocer like Whole Foods, or Wild Oats, etc. I happened to get these from either the grocery store or Wal-Mart. I can't remember which right off. The are in a little yellow-orange box with a blue oval in the corner that says Hyland's.

Yup! That's them! The reason you would want to start taking them the day before is because they are homeopathic. It takes longer to build up in your body as opposed to chemical remedies that are quicker, but have more side-effects. :)

Wow, you have all been busy chatting since I last checked in yesterday!! I have been catering to my sick kids. :sad2: My DD4 finally got over some stomach bug that has kept her down for almost a week and just when I think things are back to normal, DD12 is sick as a dog today. Poor kids. Glad they are getting it now, though, and not on the boat!! I told DH this morning that if we are going to be getting it we have to get it now!!

:welcome: to our newcomers!! We have a GREAT group here! I really can't wait to meet you all!! :yay:

I have to say something here and it's only because I've come to care about you all. 3 years ago I found this incredible company called Melaleuca. They manufacture environmentally safe, non-caustic household and personal care products. I converted our home to their safer and healthier products 3 years ago, right away. At that time I was sick daily. ALways needing to lay down for hours at a time. Using an emergency inhaler much more often than is safe, and migraines that required enough medication to knock out a horse! What happened was this... The debilitating migraines I had constantly, STOPPED! The severe asthma I had had for over 20 years went away. And it's been 2 1/2 years since my son has gotten sick! He hasn't missed a day of school in 2 years. Before this he missed at least 20 days a year from all the stomach bugs that hit the school. Our immune systems are so strong now! And to not need an inhaler... that is priceless!

We removed the chemicals from our home, replaced them with the best of science and nature, and our health has been phenominal! I've never been one to be health crazy.. or an environmental nut... but when I see the effects of normal household products in the home and KNOW that there are safer more effective alternatives... I have to say something.

I'm very picky when it comes to cleaners and laundry products, as well as shampoo and conditioner. If they dont work I dont use them. Well Melaleuca has the best products on the market. They work better than anything I've ever used, AND at Walmart prices AND they are safe!

Dylan used to get constant headaches.. I used Johnson and Johnson products with him. I found out they are loaded with formaldehyde (Quarternium 13 or 15 on the ingredients label). When I converted our home, his headaches stopped within a week! I think he's only had 1 in 3 years now. If you have Dawn and Cascade in your home.. a fingerful is lethal to a small child. Please put them up high.

The reason I told you all of this is because of the sickness I'm watching with your kids right now. Normal everyday household products, including your bath and body products, eat away at your skin tissue, lung tissue, and overall immune system.

Having said this.. I wont bring it up again. I'm not here to preach. I just wanted to share my own experience and hope it might help some of you. You can email me privately if you have any questions. My email is Dotcomangels@aol.com.

Have a great day!!!!
Sally :)

When we are in Grand Cayman our tentative plan is for my DF, DH and 2DD's to go with one of the Captain Marvin's excursions to Stingray City. My DM and I are thinking of taking the Rum Point Beach Jeep Excursion with Grand Cayman Excursions.

Here are the questions:
If we do this "guided tour" I am the one driving the jeep, or is the guide driving? It says that you need a valid drivers license so...?

Assuming you like your guide, would this be someone you consider tipping after the tour? If so what tip range would be appropriate? I understand that tipping is a delicate subject, I just don't want to offend someone if they are or are not expecting a tip. Believe me if I have a problem with service and feel that a tip is not deserved I do not have a problem explaing why one is not recieved.

Would anyone here consider renting a car for the day in Grand Cayman a viable option? Is the island difficult to navigate, or are there areas that need to be avoided? Keep in mind that none of us have ever been to Grand Cayman before, and I feel like a scheduled tour might be too restrictive. We may want more time sight seeing and less beach time. Or we may like the beach so much that we just fall asleep there for the afternoon. Although I do have a fairly good sense for navigation others in my family worry that my DM and I might get a little lost and end up somewhere less than desirable to two women to be alone. Is this fear reasonable?

Thanks in advance for your help, as I know many of you have been to this island before.

Onboard shops include:

Mickey's Mates -- Located on Deck 4, this is your cruise line Disney Store! Disney merchandise of all kinds are available here, including postcards, trading pins, plushes, t-shirts, and logo merchandise of the Disney Cruise Line and the ESPN Skybox (a pub aboard ship).

Treasure Ketch -- Also on Deck 4, here you can purchase tax-free items such as watches, jewelry, loose stones, film and batteries, books and magazines, and upscale merchandise.

UpBeat -- Here you will find tax- and duty-free fragrances, liquors, and premium cigars; however, you may not consume the liquor you purchase on the ship.

Preludes -- This is the theater snack stop, complete with candy, peanuts, and popcorn.

Shutters Photo Gallery -- Throughout the cruise Disney photographers are ready and willing to snap your photo. You can be photographed with a variety of backgrounds and a variety of Disney characters, too! You'll find your photos each evening on display in Shutters. Purchase them as you go along (and save your receipts for possible quantity discounts) OR, if you'd prefer, review your photos every day. Discard the ones you don't want and stack up the ones you do behind each other. If you don't do this, there's a good chance all the photos will be discarded. Also, don't wait until the last night of the cruise to purchase your photos -- as you might imagine, Shutters gets VERY congested at the end of the cruise. Be sure to keep your eye out for specials in the Personal Navigator. On my last cruise, I was able to get a free 8x10 of the ship and characters because I'd purchased a certain quantity of photos!

As a side note, Disney had many loose gem stones on the ship. If you are interested in citrine, amethyst, blue topaz, sapphire or garnet, the ship offered a large selection at $10 per carat. They even offered pairs for earrings. This is a great price if you want to make your own jewelry.

Check-in, and Boarding

Check-in -- Once you arrive at Port Canaveral and cleared the initial check-in and security, proceed up the escalators to the main port hall.
If you have done the 7-Day land/sea vacation package, you’ve already presented your documents at the hotel, so you’ve already checked in. You may walk aboard as soon as the gangway opens.

If you’re arriving at the terminal for the cruise-only and have not checked in via your Disney Resort, now is the time. Cast members will be located in this area to assist with any questions you may have. Be sure to have your Cruise Documents fully filled and out signed prior to getting into a check-in line. Questions about what to fill out? Ask the Cast Member. There are tables and pens available for you to use.

Check-in desks are on the left side of the terminal -- present your travel papers, identification and receive your Key to the World card. If you have previously sailed on a Disney Cruise Ship, you are automatically a member of the Castaway Club and there is a special check-in line for you at the far end of the counter. Sometimes this line is shorter, other times the regular line will be shorter, so check. Once processed, you will be given your Key to the World Cards which act as door keys and charge cards for your stay onboard. The cards also have series of numbers written on them which indicate your Dining Seating (early or late), your Dining Table Number and your dining rotation. TAPT for instance means you dine first at Tritons, then Animators, then Parrot Cay and then Tritons again. You will also receive a “Welcome Aboard” flyer that has information for the afternoon as well as a map of the ship on the reverse side.

Boarding official begins at 1:00pm, but if the ship is ready, boarding will begin a bit earlier. Note that your stateroom will not be ready until 1:30pm (strictly enforced). Luggage will be delivered throughout the day until 5:30pm. Late arrivals mean late luggage arrivals too!

Mandatory Boat Drill:

The United States Coast Guard requires that all vessels carrying passengers for hire from US ports conduct a safety boat drill within 24 hours of departure. Just about every cruise ship conducts the drill just before departure. This drill is mandatory for all passengers and crew. All ship services are suspended from 3:30pm until 4:30pm for the mandatory Boat Drill. The Boat Drill is scheduled for 4:00pm. You will need to go to your stateroom where each person must put on a lifejacket and then proceed to your boat station. Which is your boat station? Look at the back of your stateroom door. It explains everything. If you forget your boat letter, check your lifejacket, it is the big green letter on the bottom. Some areas are on the outside desk and others in the large dining rooms and theatres. The way to your boat station is well marked on the bulkheads (walls) around the ship and there are lots of traffic people to direct you. The drill is to be taken very seriously! You must make this drill or you will find a little note on your cabin door. They won’t send you ashore or anything like that, but the safety officer will frown at you.

Please take a moment to prepare little kids for the boat drill. Though the P.A. announcement does a good job explaining about the safety equipment on the ship, you’ll want to take a moment to reassure them that this is simply a quick practice and that they’ll be fine. Life jackets are even provided for infants. If you need a special sized life jacket and it’s not in your cabin when you arrive, be sure to ask your room steward to get you one.

Be sure that you understand how to wear your lifejacket properly. Though you are very unlikely to ever put it on again, as on every boat it is the single-most important piece of safety equipment aboard.
PLEASE – no talking during the drill -- take the Safety Drill VERY seriously!

100 boxes ?? how many daughters do you have
It is so sad that the girls get such a low % on the cookies..
So, you are not going to eat sweets on the cruise, but after you are going home to devour boxes of cookies ???

Good questions, I wish I had answers for you... anyone ???

I'm going to have sweets on the cruise, (you'll probably have to pull me away from that buffet) but not before then, sorry I wasn't clear.

I'm "Cookie Mom" for the whole troop, so all the booth sale cookies are at my house, however my daughter sold about 180 boxes, most of which have been delivered. Saturday before the other girls picked up their orders we had close to 700 boxes of cookies in the house, and unfortunately for my family not a drop of milk in sight (oops). As far as the % on the cookies it would be nice for the girls to get more, but when I look at the cost breakdown I don't really see where more could come from. It's a great learning experience for the girls though.

I'm going to have a Girl Scout Cookie week when we return home from the cruise to curb my depression after leaving the Magic. :teeth:

I totally forgot that we're leaving on Fri. too!! Joining you guys in the single digit dance!! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!

:cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo: :yay:  :dancer: party: :jumping1:

Thanks again Tracy for all the info. on the Maya Palms Resort!! I really appreciate it! I'll let ya know what we decide! Were you going to go thru the excursion company or were you going to do it on your own? :confused3

I haven't gone on a jeep tour in Cayman but I did in Mexico. It was one where we drove our jeeps they provided to us. I'd bet your tour would be similar what with the DL requirement. We followed others in a caravan of jeeps so while you may be last in the line (or whatever) you are still in a line . Our guide would pull off to the side every so often and check that all the jeeps were still with us, there were more from his tour company that I am sure would have run back if there was a problem.

On tipping...most everyone that expects a tip usually will make it pretty well known...I have often heard in the tour talks...something like...please rember to tip your guides :thumbsup2 ....tip buckets and the like.... so it may be best to have a few $ tucked in a pocket just in case. Anyone that helps you out you may want to tip...but likewise if you don't want to or can't often it is known that cruisers don't often carry much cash. I have gotten out of some pushy sales talks for timeshares in Nassau by explaining I am from a cruise and have no cash or money, was just strolling around :moped: etc....Of course had I had shopping bags this may not have been so easy :rotfl2:

I have walked around the port area at Grand Cayman, It is a very nice island, and only done the stingray thingy so I don't know the specifics of your actual tour. The stingrays are a blast however.

We're leaving Friday, too!!! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!! :woohoo: 9 more days from now and we'll be on the plane!!! Yippee!!

 :yay: :cheer2: :bounce: :cool1: :Pinkbounc :boat: party:

I was a den mother & cookie mom [dad] about 12 years ago. we actually banned selling cookies one year for the % were like 3% for troop, 47% for council & 50% to cover cost. We request annual report & earning for the council.... cause those council heads were making $75k (12 yrs back).
Troop can only make their money on the Nuts & Calendar sales in the Fall, but the cookies have gone so commercal... they are yummy.. I only buy the thin mints... others are like 12 cookies for $3.50...

Sorry, it bothers me when adults make profits off kids
