February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Hi, everyone,

Although I haven't posted very often, I have been reading the replies, and have gotten some good advice from the experienced cruisers.

I now have my packing half done, but will wait until next week to finish. I bought my dramamine yesterday, but still have to get new suntan lotion, and a couple of other items. I also have a pants suit to finish for the cruise, but otherwise have most of my clothes ready. Also have to get my husband moving on his clothes, too.

I will be working on door signs this weekend, and hope to get them ready by Tuesday. Tomorrow is the day I hit single digits, since we aren't flying until early Saturday morning. My son-in-law made the flight arrangements for us, and got a good price for us on Southwest. Our flight is only about 2 hours, and is direct, so that is really good for us. We will be using DCL transfers to get to the port.

We are having warm weather today and tomorrow (near 60), but cold weather by the weekend. Hopefully, the weather will be warm on the cruise.

The pictures of the desserts really look great. Can't wait to see what else is served.

I see the location where you are from & we knew someone that moved from there & went west into the farm land [82 miles one-way from NN]. His name is Jeff Maring Didn't know if the name rang a bell?

Nice Door Signs. Finished our door signs today, also picked up the mickey ears in Alien Green. We have 6 more days until we leave for Orlando. The boys are looking forward to meeting there new friends, Griffin, Matt, Ryan and Zack. I am sure they will meet a whole lot more.

Question:
Can you still book Palo's for dinner once you get onboard or are they usually all booked up by that time? Procrastinated too long....

Can't wait to meet you all.

I think that you can book after you board on Saturday...Wouldn't want to wait too long after boarding, they will fill up.

My kids have been wanting to drop a line to yours..been crazy busy with DH gone...Please say hi for us...

the "Travel Booklet" included with document package has recommended tip amounts about 1/3 of the way in. (at least mine does)

i remember reading some place (or maybe it was Rick) that only a small % of reservations can be done online previous.. You'd think they'd have to, for there are people that don't use computers

I've been calling both brothers and my parents every other day... "Do you have your pirate costumes?... What about formal night?... Any excursions with 6 children under the age of 6 (in our party)?... It's so much fun to read what you all are writing, and to learn and plan- I live for this! This is our first big vacation in 4 years, and you'd better believe I'm going all out!! So excited. You seem like a great bunch- what fun we'll all have.

I totally sympathize with the girl scout cookies. I, too, am the cookie mom for my DD8 troop. Unfortunately, Jim and I did not have great willpower with them. I just got rid of my last 13 boxes today-so I am officially done with the cookies. I just have to do all the deposits and pay council. My goal is to have it all done by the weekend, so I don't even have to think about it next week while I'm packing. How much did your boxes sell for? Ours were $3. Good luck with the rest of your cookies!

When we are in Grand Cayman our tentative plan is for my DF, DH and 2DD's to go with one of the Captain Marvin's excursions to Stingray City. My DM and I are thinking of taking the Rum Point Beach Jeep Excursion with Grand Cayman Excursions.

Here are the questions:
If we do this "guided tour" I am the one driving the jeep, or is the guide driving? It says that you need a valid drivers license so...?

Assuming you like your guide, would this be someone you consider tipping after the tour? If so what tip range would be appropriate? I understand that tipping is a delicate subject, I just don't want to offend someone if they are or are not expecting a tip. Believe me if I have a problem with service and feel that a tip is not deserved I do not have a problem explaing why one is not recieved.

I don't know if I can really help all that much, but our group of 6 is booked for the jeep excursion at CG.

My understanding is yes, we would be driving our own jeeps and following the guide.

I hadn't thought about tipping! But I'm glad you brought it up. I will bring a little extra cash just in case ... if our guide is exceptional, then he/she would be deserving of a tip.
