February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Sally I think somebody else asked me about the ginger tablets also...anyways I found them at Walmart. I'm pretty sure they were right beside all the vitamins!! Yep... I've got the Bonine and the Dramamine!! Heard they sell the sea bands on board...all that leaves is the patch, but I dont really want to have to go to the Dr. to get that! :)

Ok.... after seeing a preview to the Poseidon Adventure and Jeffs first pic... I now need tranquilizers.... :rotfl2: :lmao: Really though.... NOT joking. :rotfl2: I am now nervous.
I also hope the weather is good and am panicking a bit about that, not SO much for me but the kids.... DH can eat and sleep and he will be fine.
I went and picked up ginger tablets at a health food store in the mall 2 days ago. She said start taking them 2 days before we get on the ship. I am SURE someone will be keeping track of weather.... right? Man, I am almost seasick now after looking at that pic... how bad is that?? :guilty: I am not telling ANY of the family about the weather.
Next, I do hope I have the right green from Home Depot. However, where do you get them laminated?
Happy Valentines Day to all!
Sea you soon!

some are saying "ginger tablets at a health food store" I would assume that would be safe, but ask your doctor to be sure...

There is also the wrist bands that work off a pressure point, those should be safe

The sea bands (we have them at our local CVS Drugs) are like wrist sweatbands with an acupressure point on them. Can't believe that it would make a difference preggers or not with those :) I couldn't sleep with mine on because it made my hands swell though. Ginger is probably ok too but I'd check with your dr on anything that you ingest really.

Awwwwwww that is so sweet!!!!!!! Ilene he's a keeper!

Ok, I am looking into having a little something in the room waiting for us when we get on board. I am thinking of going with Shirley's baskets, but I also know that DCL offers their own selections. Has anyone ever ordered a "Stateroom Celebration" package through DCL? I am looking specifically at the Bon Voyage one. I was wondering if the decorations are put up before we get in, or am I going to have to make the mad scramble to find the room and put the stuff up before dh and dd's make their way to the room? I want to get some baskets for the girls from Shirley, but I also thought they would enjoy seeing the banner and cake as well! Has anyone had any experience with this?
Moira

We have had items in our stateroom from DCL (from our travel agent) and also Shirley (that Rick arranged for us). Both times they were in our stateroom waiting for us when we arrived. I did order decorative streamers from another cruiseline and they were hung up in our room waiting for us but not when I expected.... so I had to check at the desk - after I did they were put up I think it was that evening during the 2nd time the room was serviced for that day .

the ship does have in water stabilizers and only in the highest of seas does it get rough. The usual worst time of the trip is crossing the gulf stream current on the way out and in but it is still much smoother than for instance an airplane in turbulance.

When I was preggers I used the bands.. they worked pretty well.

On our last cruise though.. I had the patch and was still green! lol Everyone told me afterwards to use dramamine or Bonine and I would have been fine. I know for this cruise so I haven't bothered to get the patch. :goodvibes

Have you all checked out all the links in the Disney cruise website.. after you sign in? If you check out the ports of call, and open each one, they have video's of all the ports and excursions!! It's awesome! Now I might be the last to know this... but just in case I"m not.. check'em out. :) I sure wish we had more time at Grand Caymen and even Costa Maya. I dont think we're going to fit in any beach time till CC. :sad2:

Now about the musicals... Do any of you enjoy the musicals? I loved the couple of them we saw on the Dawn Princess! I'm thinking Disney's will be even better with all their characters :) Do you think it will be casual dress?

I checked out all the activities in the kids areas and they are really going to have a blast!!! Everything from age 3 up to 14 or 15 is awesome! My DS probably isn't going to want to come out of there.. :rotfl2:

Ok now I can't take it anymore... I WANNA GO NOW!!!!!!! :yay:

I wanna go too...I am tired of sick kids....they are on antibiotics so on the mend but sheesh I am tired!!

I didn't know about the videos I will need to check them out.

We have enjoyed the musicals both times. Last year we sat in the front row far off to the right and saw the performers up close. Our youngest DS loves them too. Disney sweet for the family with some humor for the grownups that will leave the inquisitive youngster asking ..."what? ....what was so funny?"

Oh and it's dark in there so whear what you want...I often change after dinner into something more comfy....

Ginger pills- I have heard great things about them as well, so I picked them up at the drug store. Although, this month in consumer reports I read that they can dehydrate you and thin your blood. So they caution anyone who is on other medication that might have similar side affects.

I am also scared about sea sickness especially since this is our first cruise. I have bonine and the ginger. I guess I will try the bonine first and see how it goes.

Even though we got a great rate, I am not sure I would recommend my travel agent I used to book the cruise. We still have not received our docs. She said she received them Friday and would mail them out Saturday. My tracking slip says they were sent out last night at 430. Here it is 11 days away and still no doc dance :sad2:

I never thought to ask until now... but do people bring their own mugs or something for the beverage center on deck 9, or are there cups there?

Counting down the days for the cruise.....

Hi Lynn!! That is good to know about the Ginger!! I had no idea. :confused3

Maybe I'm just assuming but I believe they would have cups, glasses, whatever is needed at the drink stations. If not you can always go to the bar and ask. But they seem to cover everything :) :woohoo:

I was looking at the videos of the state rooms and what is included and the basic inside state room isn't all that bad!! And it's dirt cheap! I"m going to have to look into that when we start getting ready to book the Hawaiian cruise. That is a couple of years away. Have any of you ever been to Hawaii on a cruise? Or otherwise? I can't even THINK about that one or I'll make myself nutty  This cruise is so close and I'm about to go stir crazy just waiting. :scared:

Yes there are paper cups at the station, and some in your room for teeth brushing, etc. You shoouldn't need to bring any cups.

Good for you...Matt has been to atleast 1 show a trip (of course Zack - I want to be with you and Dad- to more) and has enjoyed them even though we aren't huge Disney watchers here at home.

I am going to bring a few empty water bottles, or Sport bottles, something i can fill with water or soda & put in fridge & Take to shore... I have those individual ice teas, add to a bottle of water... when done the week i'll throw the bottles

Greetings, I hope I have not posted too late. My family and I booked this cruise at the last minute and are excited - first timers. We live in Saint Augustine, FL so Disneyland is a frequent stop. However, we are new to DCL. This thread is a wealth of information for us and we are looking forward to the cruise.

Welcome to the group! :grouphug:

Happy Valentine's Day all!

I came home last night after a volleyball match ... and drinks and wings with the girls ... to find the dining room table draped with a red tablecloth, two dozen red roses in a vase in the middle, real pink and red rose petals strategically placed all over the table, Dove chocolate hearts and Lindt dark chocolate truffles also strategically placed, a big heart balloon, and a candle burning. I sure do have a romantic husband! I told him I'm not worthy ... he says I am. Tonight I made him dinner ... pasta primavera and garlic bread ... and we shared a bottle of wine. Can't ask for any better than that. Well ... on second thought ... the night is young! :lovestruc
Just had to share ... he never ceases to amaze me.

Now if I can just get him half as excited as I am about the trip!

On our HM cruise, the last night we had 20+ foot waves ... no seasickness for us ... more scared than anything. When we debarked, I went up to Captain Henry and thanked him for getting us "home" safely and told him he had me worried for a while there :scared:  ... he looked at me like I was from another planet! :crazy2: I guess it's stuff they run into all the time. Nobody else seemed phased by it either, so I guess it was just us. And I can vouch for the stabilizer fins someone mentioned earlier ... we could see them ... underneath the water right below our stateroom.

6 days of work left! :woohoo:

I can't keep up with this thread! :rolleyes1
