February 2012 Car Rentals

IM sorry when i said ez rent nds shuttle..i kept thinking of SIXTH ..nvr used either before....i see now Alamo has blocked out dates for som coupons from 2/7-2/18.

I noticed that none of the coupons are working for my dates anymore. I have a confirmation number from yesterday, so I guess I am safe. :confused3

me too i noticed the blackout dates on mousesavers this morning..but i have it confirmed also..so we should be OK...

Our dates our Feb. 16-Arriving late and Feb 25. Returning early.

I am still getting prices in the $500. and up range for a mid -size. :sad1:

Through carrentalsavers.com, for your dates, Advantage (in terminal) has a price of $242.91 for an "intermediate" and $271.93 for "full size." No coupon needed.

Right now I have a reservation with national for a midsize SUV, picking up at the Dolphin and returning to MCO (feb 10-16). I thought I was getting a fairly reasonable price, with the Continental FF code and the coupon ending in AAP. Over $200, but better than it started!

Today I decided to check out picking up the car on the 9th from MCO. I hadn't done it before because we wanted to try out DME. Picking up at MCO, with those same discounts, with an extra day, is under $100. editing to add: that price is for a midsize CAR, so i can use the Aisle, and just maybe get something bigger.

Yeah, I think we'll be trying out DME another time! :rotfl:

I have never used DME for the same reason!:goodvibes

Another happy guest here, using the National code 5026050 I got my mid size SUV rental down to $164 total, for Feb 5-10. I cannot use a coupon, since I have no Sat night stay.

(That code is for Mileage Plus, which I did not even remember I already belonged to. I think because this is United FF program, and I previously belonged to Continental's, before the merger. In any case, anyone can join it and use the code.)

THANKS! to whoever put the National info on here, I love National, and belong to the Emerald Club. But I have not used in in years, could no longer get a good price. I am glad to use it this time.

My van just went down to $215. Not bad!

If you wanted to try Priceline bidding, you could do even better. If you tried $12/day, your total would be $150 for a 7-day rental. $13 a day looks like about $158. I had a "reward" in my priceline account under "my rewards". If you've used PL before, check to see if you have one too! My dates overlap yours and I got my minivan from Alamo for a total bid of 13.10 a day. If you do bid, I hope you try $12 first. I still want to know if I overbid! You only have to wait 24 hours before bidding again if you're turned down.

You can actually get an intermediate SUV through Costco with Alamo for $134 inc taxes.

I'm still waiting for pixie dust to lower the prices for the end of the month!!

Me too! I am looking for Feb 24 late night to Feb 29 dinner time and the prices are insanely high! Alamo is asking for $400 to $500 for these 5 days for a compact haha.

:rotfl:

The best I've found so far is Avis for $215 compact.

From mousesavers: "Get a FREE upgrade on a Compact through Standard vehicle. Go to the National website and use the coupon code NU62375FM when booking. No physical coupon required. Valid on rentals through 2/29/12."

Would that work for you?

I'm going to try that code now, b/c mousesavers has a different code for United FF, 2700075.

And look at that, it's lower than the Continental code I was using before. About $6 lower. Nice.

Well, it looks like you bid just right! I tried $12/day total bid ($9 for me and $2 in PL Rewards) and no luck. I'll try $13 total tomorrow:thumbsup2

I can get those prices also, but am worried about using the website since I have never used it. If for some reason I can't use it and they tell me that, it will be too late to get on Mears, so we would have to take a taxi.

Prices for end of Feb have to drop soon. No one can really be paying $400 for an economy for 5 days, right?!

Prices for our vacation (leave this Friday) started dropping a little over a week ago so there is still hope!

Thanks for the idea Webworm. I will check out the prepaid rates on expedia.
As my vacation plans are not quite set in stone I don't think I will actually book anything prepaid unless it is less than 1 week away from my departure date.
Right now I have a ressie at a WDW resort so I could always do the Disney transportation thing...

Nice to know about this option though, thanks!

I will try it! I am a Costco member.

Now at $137 (TOTAL) for my mid SUV Feb 5-10.

THANKS! i know I tried Costco at some point, but did not get that rate! I am delighted. Interesting that they made me key in my Costco membership number to make the reservation. I guess they closed the door on non-members booking with their discounts. (?)

I got the best price from National Emerald Isle using the XVC1092 ID along with the free upgrade to a midsize.

Can anyone verify that contract ID is good, no questions asked when picking up the car?

Thanks.
