February 2012 Car Rentals

Thanks for posting this. I am down to $111 for a mid-size, 2/9 - 2/13. I started at $255. :cool1:

Going to print my Continental Onepass.....JIC they ask.

I was happy with my rate, but thought I would try the Continental id and was thrilled to see I saved more. I have used it before and have never been asked for the card, but always have a copy just in case too.

Thank you and to the pp who originally posted the info. :worship: I was able to switch my reservation to National and am now getting a premium car for less than the compact I had booked with Enterprise

One more question - Is there a charge/benefit to being part of the Emerald club? We don't rent cars often. Thanks!

Yes there is benefit to belonging to the Emerald Club and there is no charge to join. National's web site explains it quite well. www.nationalcar.com click on the Emerald Club tab.

Thanks for all the great tips and codes!!!

Something I've noticed in my rental car searches... It may be beneficial to try a non-airport pickup location. I am renting in CT, driving the rented vehicle to WDW. It was about $1000 cheaper to rent from an agency not located at an airport. This may not always be the case, but it sure saved me a ton of money!

A THOUSAND DOLLARS CHEAPER! :eek::eek::eek:

Thanks - read that on the website...but wanted real opinions. I don't see it beneficial if you only rent a car every once in a while....:confused3

Book a midsize and get a free upgrade to anything in the Emerald Aisle...and it's always full size or larger. I used to get an SUV every time when I was on business. Here's the 2012 thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2852976 You go from the plane to your car, avoiding the counter. You can still use your best discount code and coupon code with Emerald Club. Mousesavers has a link with the National car rental info where you can join for free.

Since you originally had a compact, this seems like a great deal for you....even if you never rent from National again. If I knew I could get a minivan for my upcoming rental with my family, I'd book the midsize and grab the free upgrade.

I used carrentalsavers.com and got a standard size car ( a full size car out of MCO) using Alamo for 2/10 through 2/17 for 8 days, for $105 including all taxes. I could not be happier with this rate!

Rhode Island Quahog

what is your codes please
thanks!

There are no codes...its a discount car rental site offered in conjunction with Travelocity. Go to the site and plug your dates and times in and see what rates you get. Keep checking your rate though...they change several times during the day and more often than not, they decrease. I usually find the best rates 2 weeks prior to my trip.

If you typically rent from places with the Emerald Aisle, as mentioned, it's great to book a mid-size then get to choose from the Aisle. First time we got a Dodge Nitro, and the second time we got a nice new Durango.

But if you don't normally rent from places with the EA, it might not be worth it. On this trip we're picking up from the Dolphin, which doesn't have the Aisle, so we didn't do the mid-size thing; just rented what sort of vehicle we want to get.

You are so correct

We only rent a car when we are at Disney and think that National is great. We got our free membership through Mousesavers. Last year we got a Town and Country for I think $128 for 10 days it was an excellent deal!

I highly recommend National.

changed my visa discount to bjs and got small sub for $170.00 yeahhhh.i agree Alamo asks for a DL# for there insiders club..little hesitant..

One perk of Alamo insiders and National emerald club is you get to skip the line. They need your drivers license information for your rental. You can't skip the lines (and they can be long) if they don't get that information ahead of time.

Other Perks of the clubs that we appreciate each rental include free additional driver, great rates, skip the lines, emails with 30-45 dollar off coupons, and with National's Emerald Club the fun of wondering what will be available for me this time!

My flight to Charlotte was canceled and I couldn't fly in until the next day. I called Alamo and told them when I went into the website to change my reservation it made my rate sky rocket. They told me not to change a thing. I'm an insiders member and they would hold my car for me for 24 hours. (Another great perk)

This is GREAT information! Thank you!

They will take your DL# at some point during the transaction. Last year I forgot to cancel an Alamo reservation and was worried I might get charged since I an an insider and they have my credit card info, but I was not.
