Good morning to all fellow cruisers. One week to go!! A few things I've been thinking about this morning when I should be working
1) I booked the Cozumel Beach Break. Has anyone else? I thought it sounded like a good deal since it's all-inclusive and less expensive than some of Disney's Cozumel excursions.
2) The Lysol deal...just thinking...Clorox makes bleach-wipes that might be a bit more convenient (less heavy maybe?)...good for wiping off those door knobs, etc. for protection against colds, etc.
3) I always bring a travel iron/streamer because no matter how well I pack, clothes will get wrinkled. I use the table which can raise up and put a towel on it for an ironing board. Works well.
4) $$...I think I usually spend about $400 extra on each 7-day cruise for excursions/tips/drinks. I plan to have cash for tips in separate envelopes ready to go before the cruise...then I just place them in the safe and pass them out on the last night. I often put the $ in a "Thank You" card for each CM. I also like having an envelope of $1 bills for room service tips, just makes it more handy. ...Order the Cheese Plate and Choc Chip Cookies through room service...my best tip.
5) I've never used an extension cord or power strip because there are outlets right beside the dressing table. I do bring my own blow dryer...I have thick hair and the ones in the bathrooms aren't very powerful.
6) For carry-ons definitely bring something that has wheels. My son will bring a rolling back pack and I'll bring a small suitcase with wheels. If you get on the ship at 12 you'll most likely have to lug everything with you until 1:30 when you can get into your room. They were pretty strict about that time the last time I was on the ship and the time before I was lugging so much stuff everywhere it was a nightmare...especially if you have little ones to look after. Also if you pack alcohol in your carry on, which is what I do because I don't want any breakage...it can get very heavy.
7) Wal-Mart .89 cent lanyards for the kids...perfect for KTTW cards and a place to put pins is they collect them...invaluable for kids having to keep up with their room keys...although I didn't use mine.
8) Make sure to really explore the ship. It's amazing how every part of the ship is decorated...stairways...walls everywhere...there is sooo much to see and we all know that Disney is into the details...you'll find them all over the ship....and of course look for the hidden Mickeys everywhere.
9) Take one day to do almost nothing except look at the ocean, the wide-open sky and thoroughly relax...read a book, soak up the sun, indulge in some really great drinks, but try not to get overly concerned about activities...just for one day...you'll be amazed at the difference in how you feel when you go to dinner.
OK, these are just some things I've been thinking about and remembering from past cruises. I hope they help...just thinking about these things has brought back such wonderful memories...no wonder I book again each time I'm on board.
By the way, Nathan and I are in room 5127...funny the same room my mum and I had two years ago.
