I bought the material for my FE and decals and...... my mommy sewed it for me! Yeah! now it is an heirloom too! Sweet!

So Now... I want to use a Disney Font to write our names... I have seen that done on other FEs, is there a machine they use ? If so, could I just go to the local craft store and print one out there?

Hierloom! Like it! Wish I'd thought of telling my Mum that while she was here!
She did at least show me how to use the sewing machine! That's a start.

Are you going to post a pic? Would love to see it!

The only writing I've seen on pockets was done with a machine I think. A special embroidery stitching. You could maybe print it using transfer paper depending on the colour of the pockets. Not really sure. Hope someone else will be able to help.

You're all in!
We're pretty excited too. Been too busy with new schools and sports try-outs to think about it much lately! I have a feeling it's going to whizz by from now to Christmas and then suddenly it's going to be very close!

A number of people mentioned Jan.1st as the cut-off date for people to join this group. If anyone has an opinion on this then feel free to share.

As far as pirate night goes I believe it is the nassau day, which in our case is the 1st stop, 2nd night. Please jump in if you have more knowledge

Wow, nice work! Your appliques are adorable! I will have to figure out how to post the one I started on. I actually cheated a little and used felt tote bags and I'm just sewing them together. I figured it could hang with the handles that I left on the top.

Oh, now I feel terrible! Like I somehow cheated!
I did not make those appliques!
I ordered them at Etsy.
Pic was just a collection of all the bits I've got but done nothing with yet!

I've seen some Fe's that have been made with felt totes and they are super cute. Actually after seeing them I wondered what I was thinking trying to make the pocket version. Oh well, I have the stuff now!

Concerning the groups is it per stateroom or per person. How many are going to be in the group? I see we have 50 members and 15 cabins right now. Just curious on this subject.

We too have been discussing this.
I'll weigh in with my thoughts.

I had also thought Jan 1st might be losing some people, as people may not start to plan until after Christmas (imagine!!)

I wonder if Jan 15th might just be a little late? My thought behind that is, although it is 7 weeks until we sail, some people may be leaving a week or more before that for a pre-cruise park trip. Then some people send their FE gifts to the ship ahead of time. Now I'm not sure how the US postal system is. The Canadian one is quite slow!

A number of people in a previous discussion mentioned that the cut-off date has to be very strict and held firm. In this case maybe we can be a little more flexible on the Jan 1st date to allow late comers?

I personally would be happy to say Jan 15th as I've already started to make some things and I'm sure I could get all the final bits ready in that 6 weeks. There have been a few requests of jan 1st but nothing more. Anyone else want to weigh in? Lets just discuss this and set a date shall we? Get one decision off the list!

Some FE groups are run as a sort of dictatorship with all the rules made from the start. And sometimes there are lots of rules about when, to whom and how often you should deliver
As I posted at the beginning I thought we'd try a more flebile approach
My statement read

Each cabin taking part should deliver something to every other cabin on the list. Whether you deliver 1 gift per cabin or per person is your choice.

Hope that is agreeable to everyone.

Lastly...
Group size's.
A group refers to the number of cabins you will deliver to.
My reason for posting the poll at the top was to gauge peoples opinions on how big the groups should be.
I have read about some groups that were 100 cabins! That personally is too many for me although it obviously works for some.

Looking at the poll as it currently stands we could end up somewhere between 20 and 30 cabins.

When to split the list is something I need advice on.
Do we wait until cut-off date? Or close a group once it reaches 25 for example?

If you have any comments fling them now!

I think I would go with Jan 1st as the cutoff date,followed by a "grace period" of 1 week for any late joiners,After that CLOSED.I guess I would split them up on the cutoff date. IDK ,might not be good option for those personalizing or making gifts for each individual in the stateroom.but it would be ok for those just getting 1 gift per stateroom. I haven't even started yet on gifts just ideas on paper right now

And I can't imagine anyone getting upset! Although I agreed to be the keeper of the list I was hoping for a co-op group

Taking the points from yourself and Dawn I am proposing :

Jan 1st, I will issue the groups (if we have a list large enough to split)
Jan 8th, list closed. Final list issued.

Anyone joining between Jan 1st and Jan 8th will get added to a group, evenly.
That way those personalising their gifts can at least get started from Jan 1st, as they will then know the majority of people in their group.

How does that sound? I will wait 'til Monday morning to finalise this in the opening statement. Anyone who has anything else to share has 'til then to do so There's only 8 families/groups registered here, so it's a good time to set dates. Less opinions to consider! And I'd also like to get it out of the way

I started making some things over the summer, just male/female at the moment. Will personalise a little more once we're nearer the time. Need to find time to make the FE itself first!
