Hi! We have DVC studios planned for most of our trip, so we will have a microwave, toaster and mini-fridge for cooking. We plan to eat filling breakfasts in our room on most days, and 2-3 evening meals in our room on resort / non-park days so that we can save some money. Does anyone have any favorite, kid-friendly meals they like to make without a full kitchen?

Of course, we can always do top ramen or canned soup, but hoping for something a little healthier and more interesting!

Egg (microwave), bacon (pre-cooked then microwave) cheese on an English muffin for breakfast. When we had younger kids we brought waffles, bagels for breakfast. Dinner was frozen chili or beef stew pre-cooked at home then heated in the microwave along with some steamed veggies.

Thanks! The muffins with microwaved bacon and eggs is a great idea for a "breakfast for dinner" for my kids! I can top them with avocado and call it healthy. :)

keep in mind that mini fridges tend to have very little freezer space so anything you take frozen prepared you will need to adjust down on the cooking time.

stuff I can think of-

frozen breakfast stuff that if defrosted in the fridge still cook up o.k. (breakfast burritos, breakfast bowls, breakfast sandwiches). frozen waffles defrosted cook fine in a toaster, toaster strudels not so much (but pop tarts don't need a fridge).

dinner'ish stuff-either home made or store bought bbq beef (like Lloyd's brand) can be warmed along with some canned veggies (bring a reusable microwaveable container) and you can have non refridgerated buns to make sandwiches of (maybe as a side grab a couple orders of fries to take to the room the night you plan to make). defrosted chicken nuggets microwave fine so that's an option-pair it with Mac and cheese (those individual cups are super convenient). the little individual queso cups can be microwaved and used to make nachos-when my kids were little they loved it with chips and olives (take a little pop top can).

What a list! They'd love nachos! Again, I can add some avocados and tell myself it's healthy (also beans and tomatoes) :) - and no refrigeration needed for any of it.

Haven’t brought them to the parks yet, but we love the Tasty Bite madras lentils that come in a microwaveable pouch. Serve them over the basmati rice that comes in a microwaveable pouch.

we have transitioned from using beans/refried beans on nachos in favor of the tasty bite madras lentils. I get the multi pack boxes at Costco, the rico's nacho cheese sauce individual cup 4 packs at Walmart and keep tortilla chips and canned chopped olives on the shelf all the time. the madras lentils taste SO GOOD on the chips and spread much more evenly.

Interesting! I do like their channa masala!

If you want a little bit of work

Sushi rice bowl
Microwaveable rice
Smoked salmon (or canned tuna - I prefer the salmon but budget/fridge space adaptable)
Chopped cucumber, avocado, red onion, and cabbage - avocado/red onion is shelf stable, cabbage can stay a few days out if it's a small head
Pickled ginger in a jar (optional - I love this, but if you use it, you have to like eating it:)
Soy sauce packets or a bottle of soy, depending
Extra s&p if needed

You can change that up for kids using chicken packets vs the fish and whatever veg they like

Mexican rice bowl
Microwave rice
Shelf stable chicken packets
Bean of choice
Queso jar
Salsa jar
Avocado, diced tomato, diced onion (and lettuce if you have it)

You can also take the above, use tortillas, and wrap it up into a burrito

And my favorite hotel meal is a salmon BLTA - smoked salmon, microwave bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, red onion, and a lemon mayo (lemons are shelf stable and useable in alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks if you only use a part) - lemon juice and mayo combined with s&p on a toasted bagel with the rest on top

Others you could do with almost no work
- hot dogs (they can sit in the mini-freezer that sorta works b/c it wouldn't matter if it's frozen or not when you microwave it),
- the previously mentioned BBQ sandwiches
- pasta with jarred tomato or pesto sauces
- tuna and chicken salad sandwiches with the pouch product
- pizza bagels (toast the bagels before microwaving so they hold up for the kids and buy shelf stable pepperoni, so only the mozz needs the fridge) - this would be a big kid hit

I also buy every shelf stable produce item if I'm planning to eat in the room. You tend to not eat a lot of produce in Disney, and you tend to want light at night, so my kids had many days where a PB and honey dip with sliced apple and banana is what they wanted for the room dinner (with a smoothie - my offsite resort room always had a blender and iced beverages are so welcome after Orlando heat).
