Two quick questions:
Are all entree items fair-game on the basic DDP? Or, do they exclude some of the more expensive items (Like $30 steak dinners at LeCellier or the fillet entree at Teppan Edo)?
Yes, these are all included.

At a TS place, are you able to order an appetizer/soup/salad or something and pay out of pocket at the same time you use a DDP credit for the entree/dessert, or do they create a seperate tab for this?

You can order anything you wish. Any off-plan items will be put on a separate check.

Hi, and thanks for compiling all this info and helping all of us with questions!!:worship:

We hope to make it down for a few nights in May for my bday :woohoo:, and possibly again in Sept or Oct for F&WF , but definitely next Jan for hubby's bday! :cool1: And I'm contemplating getting the DDP for the first time in May. AACK! So many details and options!!!! :scared1:

So my DDP questions are to confirm my assumptions:
1) The purchase of 10-day no-expiration tickets would work on the May trip, packaged with room, in order to qualify for the DDP? and
2) If we do get to come later this year and/or next Jan, we would have to buy at least a 1-day tik with the room package to get DDP for each stay?

:hippie:

We decided to go to the DDP,because It It gives us a little more felxabilty In eating at DTD. We always goto Rainforest cafe(both at DTD and AK),T-rex and House of blues. and we will end up still paying the diffrence In cost between the DDP and DxDP. Because I want to take advantage of all that those places give us from the meals to the apptiziers and desserts. My question If I goto our local Disney store and get a gift card can I use It at all the restraunts Includeing DTD?.

No you can only use a Disney gift card at Disney owned restaurants

As long as the tickets and the room are purchased as part of a package, it makes no difference at all what type of ticket you buy.

2) If we do get to come later this year and/or next Jan, we would have to buy at least a 1-day tik with the room package to get DDP for each stay?

Yes, you need to buy the one day tickets to make the reservation a package. Unless you are an annual passholder or eligible for the military discount you can't get a package to which you can add dining unless you buy more tickets.

Walmart sells prepaid visa debit/credit cards in $50 and $100 increments. We have used these in the past and never had a problem. We have used them for online purchases, movie tickets, dinners etc... The only 2 draw backs are you cant use them for pay at the pump gas stations and you cant do cash advances on them. They do say walmart on them but they have the Visa logo so you can use them anywhere that accepts Visa!!!!!!!!!!!! They can also be insured in case of theft and you can registed them online to track your balance and purchases!

We did and never had a problem! We used them at several stores as well as Peco's Bills, and Rainforest Cafe'! We used the $50 ones just in case we lost one it wouldnt be too much of a loss. I have used the $100 ones here at home and never had a problem. I give them as gifts now too!

If you do plan to make that many trips in one year you should consider getting an annual pass instead.

This will be our first time staying at Disney and we planning on the deluxe dining plan (2 A 2C 5&7). I know that kids are supposed to eat kid's meals and use kids credits but I have seen conflicting reports on how they are shown on your receipts. For those that have done deluxe dining in the last few months with kids under 10 were the credits separate or pooled?

Just wondering how we will keep track because we tend to split meals and will do Signature dining almost every night.

Thanks,

My sister was just there last month and all the credits were pooled together.

So it would say "You have X meals and X snacks"

Thanks,

They are pooled, but if you are sitting at the table with 2 kids, the kids will have to order off of the kids' menu. They won't even be given an adult menu.

I just says on the bottom of the ticket, ________ Deluxe Credits Remain.

I have a question regarding the kids menu. Sometimes my children are picky so is it possible for them to order off the kids menu when they are over the age limit? They will be 12 when we go and the age limit is 9. It is rare that they may want to order off the kids menu so I had decided to pay OOP for it if the situation arises. Especially since their dining plan is no longer kids prices. I just wondered if they were still allowed to order from it or not.

I was wondering how the credit appear on the QS plan do they separate the kids and adult credits? I am not looking to hear about if it right to "cheat" the system, that's not what im trying to do. just want to know for the few places that dont have a kids meal.

Yes, adult and child guest credits are separate. Also, I encourage you to read the 2010 Disney Dining Plan FAQ here on the DIS. It's full of great details on what's included, how it works, and such.

They are not separated on your receipts...TS credits are separated Child/Adult, but CS are not.

I've heard rumors that you can ask for a print out of your dining charges from the concierge desk and they are separated on there, but I don't know if that's true.

If you are going somewhere that does not have a childrens menu, just tell the CM that you want to use "XX adult credits and XX child credits" off your plan. :goodvibes

You know, I am getting so tired that I really should just go back to bed. I read the OP's post completely wrong. I could have sworn they were referring to TS credits. :guilty:

I have a question about conference rates and the dining plan. If I am getting a special conference rate in Oct, what are the chances I will be able to get free dining, if they offer it again? My conference rate is 20 dollars cheaper a night than rack rate.

Your chances are, unfortunately, zero. Free dining is available only with a full price room plus tickets MYW package reservation made through Disney. It is not available with any other type of reservation and can't be combined with any other discount.

With a special discounted conference reservation, you can't even buy the dining plan, because it's not a package reservation.
