Famous people you have met on your cruise?

SimbaNoodle--Jonathan Frakes is married to Genie Francis, also known as Laura Spencer of General Hospital fame. Did you see her with him?

Frakes and Francis split up a couple of years ago. Their divorce was one of the reasons for her most recent exit from GH!! :sad2:

On our 2/5/05 Magic cruise, Dave Barry was on board doing a book signing...
Must have been for "Peter and the Starcatchers" - It's a really fun / good book. Easy read (duh, it's a "childrens" book)

This was not onboard, but last week my DD and I went to a meet and greet with Paris Hilton at Lord & Taylor's Dept. store on 5th Avenue....Paris was promoting her new fragrance.....now here is a girl with tons of money, the ability to buy anything she wants, paparazzi following her all over...pics in magazines, jet set life...etc.....you would think my DD would say wow, wish I had her life....but no.....after she got her autograph and photo my DD said she really felt sorry for her....no privacy at all. That surprised me from a 16 year old.

MJ

You should also tell you daughter that she is much cutier than Paris Hilton. Too much make up and hair!

Doug Flutie... but it wasn't a DCL cruise... he spent most of his time in the casino, and had a hard time getting some peace and quiet on the beach in Bermuda... we watched him 'hide' from the crowds so he and his wife could just get a minute's peace and eat some lunch... people are so inconsiderate.

He did, however, almost run me over with his moped :moped: in Bermuda... he stopped at the crosswalk, but the pavement was wet, and he didn't take the 'skid factor' into consideration on his stopping distance... oops!!

At night, he played drums :rockband: with the (bad) oldies band from MA that was onboard that week for their 'annual cruise'... it was fun, and he was better than their real drummer.

Not on a cruise, but it was in Disney World. We were coming out of House of Blues in Downtown Disney and we saw Wayne Brady (from Whose Line is it Anyways with Drew Carrey). He was talkin on his cell phone and I went up and stood by him until he finished. He signed my autograph book and called me sweetie! He was ssssssooooooooo nice. And as for the celebrity privacy thing, I think that when they decide to become actors/actresses/singers/etc., they sign up for all the cameras and autographs. They shouldn't complain about all that stuff. People do take it over board. Celebrities do deserve some privacy, though.

Simba - really can't get my head around that you sign up to have your privacy invaded just because of your job, and thats all they are doing. They have families that they need to spend time with and want to be out in public with.

I have seen some outrageous behavior acting as security and doing promtion work for sports and entertainment. Done some extra work too and it just blows me away. Well I used to do extra work until that incident with whats his name - the director for Titanic. Oh yeah James Cameron. Just did my first extra work in years on Fantastic Four. Didnt feel the need to bug any of the stars.

Okay, this is really not a "famous" person, but it is kind of quirky!
We were on the Magic from 12/28 to 1/4 and on about the second nite, they had family karoke. My daughter sang Colors of the Wind, and then there was a guy "Bill" from California that sang New York,New York. We saw him a couple of nites later in Rockin D doing adult Karoke and then again on the big screen during the pre-show for Golden Mickeys. There is always that one person you just see over and over, but we never talked to him.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks after the cruise, and we are watching the Newlyweds, (Jessica Simpson and Nick) Jessica goes to the dentist on Halloween, and I am looking at her dentist and I say "where do I know this guy from?" (I was thinking some other show or something) My daughter looked up and said "That's Bill from the cruise"
Then last week while watching the morning news, my husband spots Dr. Bill again. He had performed some dental work on a guy that had been wrongly convicted mainly because of his crooked teeth and was just recently released from prison after 10 years.
It definitely is a Small World! :grouphug:

Slash was on our August DD cruise. He was very polite to us when my son ran headlong into him running up the stairs when he wasn't looking up - just laughed it off and smiled and said hello whenever we crossed paths again.

Also - Genie Francis and Jonathan Frakes have been married since 1988 with no divorce. She was only supposed to be on GH for a one-month stint this past November, but in all of the interviews about it at the time they were singing the praises of their lengthy marriage and non-celebrity lifestyle in Maine. Where did you get your info?

No sure you'll get a reply since this is a 2 year old thread, don't sure why it got bumped.

Good point! Oh well - at least even two years later it's still not true!

This it true, they are still happily married, which is why I assume Genie was also on the cruise. Genie owns a cute little shop in Maine, called The Cherished Home.

Here's a recent interview from TVGuide.com: So you live in Maine with your husband, Jonathan Frakes, and your two kids. You also run your own boutique there. Is there any way you could manage to return to work in Los Angeles?
Francis: If I did it from Maine, I'd have to keep it to a real minimum or only do it in the summer, when my kids could come with me. I don't like to be separated from my kids. Or if I wanted to do it more fully, then I would have to find a way to be OK with being in Los Angeles. What that would boil down to, really, is finding suitable schools for my children.

Peter Doctor, Roger Ebert... gettin' old, can't recall more.
