Not to scare people, but this particular 5k is a timed race. A few people have posted that the pacing rules for the 5k races tend to be relaxed, with it being much slower than the "timed" races. Unfortunately (depending on your perspective - if you are hoping for an untimed race, I happen to prefer it becuase its timed), since the EE race isn't a family fun run like most of the other 5k's, its actually the main event, that means that it is rather different than the "fun run" style events. There are corrals, there are timing chips, there is a winner, in this race - and there are none of those things officially in the fun runs (all of the other 5k's at this point).
So, while I don't know what that actually means in terms of being swept, nor do I know how much the pacing is actually enforced, just know that this particular event is not quite as slow/untimed as most of the other Disney 5k's. It is designed as a competitive event, not a "fun run."

This is my first run and it's going to be an effort just doing the run - guess I better UP my training a bit more. hahaha
), and running alone is a challenge for me. We have some friends that are going to be at Disney, and now they are also competing. I totally know they will kick our butts, since the husband ran 11 miles right before playing a tennis match on Saturday. Meanwhile, I'm proud of the 1.7 miles I walked yesterday.
you two are funny!! For me right now i have plenty of obstacles (ice, snow, slush) but that's whey I'm sticking to the treadmill. I wonder how i could add obstacles to the treadmill! lol. Although a few times my dog tried to jump on it with me
(crazy mutt) but he's learned now to STAY AWAY while I'm on and wait his turn.
I'm thinking of a day trip to AK just to pay really, really close attention to stuff along the race course... would photographing the whole thing and keeping it on my iPhone (which I'll have one me while racing) be considered "cheating"?!
A few weeks in the wrong running shoes has led to something going very badly with my knee; haven't been able to run on it since Princess weekend. Seeing my doctor this week and hoping she says it's nothing serious... of course, I have a 5K scheduled this coming Sunday, so who knows what'll happen with that. Ugh!
I bettter get on that.
I guess that's what makes us worry is fear of the unknown. I'm sure the clues have got to be pretty simple if they expect us to watch for them and remember them to help us answer the clues we get at the end!!!! It's GOTTA be easy! RIGHT????
