If it helps any, I was worried about the very same thing with my DS9, doing the Royal Family 5K... he wimped out on me in training so many times, I had visions of begging him to "hurry up" and "keep going!" all through the reace. But no - when it came time to get it done, adrenaline and excitement took over and I had to keep up with him! Some days I almost wish I was doing it alone b/c dd is being stubborn about training and just might not be ready to handle it and I'll have to keep pushing her through the whole thing. LOL>>>
Clue 2

Thanks for sharing! AndI don't know if I'd ever figure out #2 on my own - I had to re-read and look at your answer a good long while to understand how you got there, lol!
I think the clue is to look at the compass and the red line there tells you to start your alphabet at E - using that, the clue "word" translates to "OBSTACLE." Others have said CMs will help... I hope so! And somewhere I saw that they give you a little mini-Sharpie/pen light with the first clue.I've been looking at this forever too and still haven't figured it out...I feel like I'm missing something totally obvious though...will any of the CM's give you a hint if you are totally stumped? That would really frustrate me! Do you have to come armed with your own writing untesil or is something provided when you receive the riddle?
I'm about 95% sure she'll want to do this...I just have to convince her that we'll still have plenty of time on the trip to visit all the parks...and then comes the dreaded task of re-working my plan of attack and a couple of the ADR's that I had just booked. But I think it's worth it to add another Disney medal to my collection...and introduce someone new to these events!

I'm still up in the air about doing it...I really want to and I've gotten the ok from the kid's mom that I'm taking on this trip...so the ball's in her court now. I like your reasoning! Maybe you can sell her on riding EE over and over at the end, too.

I think she'll have a FABULOUS time!!! and it's not often you get to be in Animal Kingdom park in the darkplus as was mentioned the bribery of riding EE and Dinosaur multiple times with no real waits is a great insentive too.
Hope you do it!!!
Does anyone happen to know what, other than the waiver, I'm going to need to provide at packet pick up with a minor that I am not the legal guardian of? Her mom's totally on board with it and will sign whatever she needs to sign, but she's not travelling with us so I would hate to be missing something I needed at packet pick up. Anyone been in this situation before?
Yes, I've picked up several packets for kids who were with me without their parents.
You will need to have her waiver signed by her mom, a packet pick-up authorization form also signed by her mom and a copy of her mom's driver's license. They only take the waiver, you will keep the authorizaton form and the copy of the DL. I would keep them in the resort safe and return them to destroy when you get home. You can print off the packet pick-up authorization form ahead of time when you download the waiver.
Some of the people at packet pick-ups glance over it, some scrutinize, so better to be prepared with what you need.
Hope that helps!
Great! thank you for the info!!!
No problem! It took us a couple of races to really figure out what we're doing, so it's nice to be able to share what we've learned~
Have a great time!!
PS~ I love all the photos with all your medals! Looks like you've had a great time with a lot of the Disney races!!
Well, I think we're in! The youngster agreed to the race and is very excited about it. Her mom was saying she wondered last night if we could have matching running shoes...so cute! I should get us registered here in the next couple of days...still trying to think of a cute team name.
I'm in!! my DF & I have signed up as a team this will be my first ever 5k and I couldn't think of a better way to start than with a Disney one. I've got the bug now and I'm already thinking of doing the TOT 10 miler and I haven't even ran the EEC yet lol.
Are you dressing up? We're thinking about it but lack of imagination is making it challenging lol
Ahhh! Okay, good to know! Thank you! There is no EXPO, just a packet pickup with an official merchandise table, thats all.
