EXCELLENT Alamo rate!

Wish I could get some of the great rates that some of you are getting. We are renting from 4/21 @10:00am 5/6 @ 4:30pm. The best I can do so far is:

Mid-Size SUV $357.49 w/all tax & surcharges ($126.18/week & 21.03/day)
Minivan $376.18 w/all tax & surcharges ($133.06/week & 22.18/day)

Anyone have any great rates for that time period: 4/21-5/6?

Thanks!

I'm doing well with my minivan rate b/c I'm after the April vacation time. I think that's what's getting your rate so high. I just peeked w/ my rates and it was even higher than what you have listed. Good luck!

Mommy Poppins, I think you are getting a GREAT RATE for the 2 weeks you are booked for.

I have a 12 day rental. starting late April, into May for $207.I booked it in early Feb. (Alamo)

Can I ask for help, too? :teeth:

I've been following this thread since it started and with your help, managed to snag two cheap rates for a 17 day rental out of Fort Myers. For some reason, it is a VERY pricy area, so the rental rates are much higher. ( I've applied the codes shared here in the last few days, and the DISCOUNTED rates are over 1,100.! The good news is that the rates I originally secured last week were for 538.57 (Midsize SUV with the Costco code and coupon,) and 603.18 (Standard SUV with Malmart code and coupon.) I don't belong to Costco.

Should I play it safe and just use the Walmart confirmation, or should I risk it to save a few bucks and use the Costco? Also, should I cancel the one that I don't use so that both ressies aren't cancelled for being a duplication? :confused3

Thanks for any help! ...and for saving me lots of $ with these codes!

If I already did the prepay thing but now have the email with the $15 coupon, can I call and have that applied to my already existing reservation?

My point about the Costco discounts was just that they could begin asking for proof of membership. Look what happened with the National Priceless code. This Alamo Costco discount was intended for members, the link says "As a Costco member you can save up to 25% off retail rates on your next rental with Alamo. Plus, get unlimited miles and one additional driver at no extra charge. Alamo puts you on the road with exclusive member savings. " and this: "At Alamo, membership means business!
Your association membership means great deals for all your travel plans. Leisure. Business. Daily. Weekly. Weekend. United States. Canada. Europe. Latin America. The Caribbean. Any time. Any place. Alamo puts you on the road with exclusive member savings" It was not intended as a open thing, like the Walmart code. If the rate is the same with other codes, perhaps it would be safer to avoid using Costco discounts if you are not members.

I am both a BJs and Costco member, and I am glad Costco has such great rates right now. Good luck to everyone with this rental rate. I would just hate anyone to be disappointed at the beginning of a vacation. I am using Alamo next month, and I will report here if they ask for proof of membership. I am not judging anyone, and I read the boards for ways to save $$ too.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but just wondering how many people actually bring their membership cards with them when they go on vacation?
I don't know if their web site says you need to have the card with you, but if it doesn't then what?
I don't have any ressies with Costco.

Rates dropped about another $5.00 this morning for minivan and SUV's.

For the person with the pre-paid ressie... I don't think that they will add the coupon. My sister-in-law tried that... she ended up having to forfeit the $5 cancellation fee but the savings was still worth it to her to do it.

My rate has gone up almost $50 since I booked it on 2/1. We are traveling 8/25-8/30 and getting a midsized SUV for $90.88 (both with Costco discount and coupon and Wal-Mart code and Entertainment coupon). It's now showing a rate of almost $140.00.

Good to know. I'm going to check this out right now.

Edited to add: This didn't work out to be less for me. But I see that they offered a $30 off for FL rentals with pickups by sometime early April. Hopefully they'll offer this again for May and I'll retry that again then.

OMG down again thanks Jennifer!!! Now it is $104 after taxes for a minivan for 5/7- 5/13!!!.

WHOA! Did you use the COSTCO rates? If not, what combos did you use to get that? We'll be getting a rental from May 6 - 12th and our rate is about $170 after taxes! I'd love to know how you did this! :thumbsup2

My dates are May 4-12th and my current rate is $157, I believe, including taxes, etc. I'm not using the Cosco codes at this point b/c I'm not a member and don't want to have problems when I pick up the minivan. I'm using the walmart code: 430710, rate code: BY and coupon code: D42C ($15 off, from the Alamo website)... (also, there is a coupon code: D24C from the entertainment book for $25 off but it requires you use a different rate code and it has been higher every time I've checked it.)

Cosco rate and Walmart rate have been the same... the difference has been in the coupons. The Cosco one is for $25, Alamo for $15... with the rate being so good... I rather be sure I'm going to be ok at check in and not have any problems!

Good luck!! Keep checking... you just never know! :woohoo:

I always bring the card related to discount codes that I use; with National I used AMEX rate, and used that card. For Entertainment book, I made sure I had that card handy if I used one of their coupons, same for any AAA discounts. So yes, I do bring the card that gets me my discounts, and will bring my Costco card. I also do only bring a fraction of the cards I usually carry though........ So many cards these days, all those membership and loyalty cards!

Yeah the equinox for that time frame is $102 today. I am using the costco codes the $25 off link and it automatically gives 25% off.

for the 6th-12th for a trailblazer is $118 after taxes and $120 for the minivan :) It may be worth it to buy the membership. Since membership is only $35 it is still cheaper than $170

Wow! Good to know!
Off hand, do you know if I could buy the membership online?

I am pretty sure you can. They have the best rates I have found when booking a disney cruise as well :)

here is the link. I am sorry I was mistaken. The membership is $45 a year now...That is high IMO since you don't live that close to one.
