EXCELLENT Alamo rate!

I just got back from Orlando. We used the Costco discount. I was not asked to see the coupon or my costco card. We got a Buick Terreza, with DVD player.

It was smooth sailing the whole trip!

For those of you thinking about buying the Cosco membership... note that the walmart code gives you the same discounted rate. By all means, buy into Cosco if you want the membership but using the walmart code and the alamo coupon (or other) you get the same rates.

(Walmart code: 430710, Rate Code: "BY", Coupon: "D42C" ... or others... if you are going before May 1st... you can use "AD94" for $30 off!!

WOOHOO! My price went down this morning so I booked and when I decided to check again tonight (yeah..i'm alittle obsessive), it went down to $115 for a week in April for a SUV!

Thanks for the great Costco tip! Been a member for years and it never occurred to me to look there!

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!!!

I am looking at 3 weeks ( Dec 16 - Jan 6) and am getting a rate of over $1000.
Someone mentioned that I just don't meet the criteria.

Any ideas???

I think your rates are high because you are still a while until your travel date. My rates for my upcoming trip to California were double 4 mths ago and are down (Still too high, National Emerald Aisle 10 days $292 with taxes). Looked at Alamo, but supprisingly they are more then National, somewhat strange

It's too soon for your dates to get this good of a deal. I'm going Dec 9-16, but am keeping tabs on what coupons and codes are working for all these folks so when I get closer to the time, I know what to use.

I personally will keep checking once a week - or if someone else on the DIS shows they are getting a great deal for my dates.

Otherwise, don't sweat it now. Wait till about 4-8 weeks out and then you should see some downward movement.

Lowered my rate again (every little bit helps) for 8 days in June, SUV, using on-line coupon/link from mouseears - contract id 7011339, w/$25 coupon & added rate code bqw8 - it's now $117

Beat my previous entertainment rate.

DH sez they'll be paying us to rent the vehicle soon
Now I just need AP rates.

Just an FYI, I tried using all the codes for a 1 week rental in late May-early June, and my rate at Hertz by signing up for their club and using one of their club only discounts, and using my AAA discount was $50 cheaper than Alamo.

You guys inspired me. I used the same codes (430710,BY,D42c) as when I reserved back on Sept 15 for p/u in what is now 4 days. Reduced the Trailblazer from $258 down to $212. Thats about 15 Mickey Bars!

I tried the WalMart code and saved $12

But I tried the Costco code and coupon and saved about $22!

My trip is May 13- May 20 Midsize SUV for $102.97

I am checking my dates about once a week, it is for December (7-15) it is still $283 for a van, I have not booked yet, still too high.. but it has come down $20 since I started checking so there is hope yet.

My take on using the Wal Mart code with the coupon posted on Mousesavers is that the coupon states "Not valid with any other discount or promotional rate, except an association or contracted discount". The contract ID# for the coupon is different from the WM #, but as I understand this, I can use the coupon with another contracted discount (Wal Mart, or whatever).

Does this seem correct? If so, I'm getting a really great rate for a rental!

I'm using the walmart code but you can use it in conjunction with a coupon directly from Alamo... use coupon code: D42C for an additional $15.00 off the walmart rate (same as cosco). There is no conflict in using the walmart code and the alamo coupon.
