While travelling by bus to MGM today, I had the opportunity to talk with a very chatty bus driver. I asked him how the drivers keep up with pertinent announcements since they all work such varied hours. Each day they get a "newsletter" with any changes to schedules, construction delays, etc. On todays schedule was one ***Important Announcement***:

Effective Sunday, January 18, 2004, there will be new bus routes for the Epcot Resorts. For MK and AK routes, there will be a bus for BW and Sw/Do resorts and another for BC/YC/BCV resorts.

It would appear that the concerns brought forward recently may have played a role in correcting the imbalance in the bus situation at these resorts. It will remain to be seen how this ultimately affects annual fees, since it appears that an extra bus will now serve those resorts, but the time to/from MK and AK and the availability of seating from these resorts should be vastly improved.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the information Doc! I beleive that is great news. Hopefully this will be a permanent change.

Thanks for the update. That is great news for those of heading down President's week (and forever)

Sandy

That is great news, thanks for sharing. It should have been divided long before now as we all know.

Thanx for the good news Doc! Looking forward to the division of the resorts on those buses!

Well done Doc:D
I would agree that this is a move that is probably somewhat overdue. Nice to see Disney recognized a problem and put forth a solution. Can't really ask for more than that.

Thanks Doc, That is very good news!! Transportation is the only issue I’ve complained about. It’s great to see Disney solve the problem.

Hear Hear!!
Sounds like it will be a change for the good.
I would imagine they have to have been feeling pressure from everyone. Cash guests at Swan & Dolphin, Yacht and Beach and Boardwalk Inn. I would expect that has as much to do with the change as DVC members input. They really never seemed to have given our comments much attention.
As for it affecting the dues...I certainly hope that they don't charge BWV any more than now. After reading through the other post about it we are already being overcharged for transportation.
Thanks Doc for the welcome and wonderful news!!

All right! Hooray for Disney for listening once again!

And thanks to Doc for letting us know.

I have never used the bus service at any of the 3 properties involved, but I can only assume that this should improve transportation times and capacities for everyone involved.

But, I would also think that this will have to increase all properties costs of transportation (most certainly BCVs per PKS44 report)

Edward

I would be more than willing to pay an increase in dues for this improved bus service. Heck, I figure I get more time to do things at the parks, which makes me get better value out of whatever park ticket I am using at the time.

Thanks for the good news Doc. Bus service to the MK was a bit of an issue during our November trip. We'll be at the BCV for several days starting next weekend so hopefully we'll see an improvement.

This is great news. I don't necessarily think creating new bus routes automatically means an increase in fees. The same number of buses could be just making different stops, increasing the frequency automatically by not having to make so many stops, thereby providing better service for the same price.

I am excited to hear this... esp since last trip, while staying at the Boardwalk we kept getting off at Beach Club, thinking it should have been BWV! LOL We were tired at the end of the day...

excellent new Rob!!! thanks for posting!!!

Thanks for the great news!:Pinkbounc We will be there in a few days and I am curious to see how it all plays out.:D

thanks for the info Doc, but

It will remain to be seen how this ultimately affects annual fees, since it appears that an extra bus will now serve those resorts,

Doc, why would this effect ours dues. I for one ( own at BWV )would not want to pay more dues while guests at BWI and S/D use the same bus. Sorry but I still feel this is a Disney issue and not DVC. If there is an extra cost , Disney should pay it. It's Disney job to get their guests to the parks at there cost not DVCs.
We pay enough now by buying into DVC and I think Disney is responsible for the bus transporation.

Great News!!! Congratulations and thank yous are owed to Paul. I am sure your investigative work and questioning DVD about the transportation costs was the moving and very important force in causing this change. For this change to occur now and it not be related to your questioning would have to be an awful big coincidence and pretty hard to believe.
Good work Paul, and a big thank you coming your way from a fellow DVC member!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I was wondering how long it would take for dues to come into the discussion. Disney charges back DVC for services they provide for members. Disney does not own Boardwalk Villas, it is owned by the members and a small part DVD (Disney Vacation Development), WDW is not going to provide free transportation. I'm sure they also charge the Swan/Dolphin a fee every year. I don't know their accounting practices, but my guess is every WDW resort has a chargeback for transportation and they collect it in the room rate.
