***Offical August 2025 Thread***

Hey all!! We were previously booked for September (POP/Free Dining) but I changed my reservation to August 13th-20th! We are currently booked at POP (I LOOOOVE that resort) but may change to Movies (Movies with free dining or POP with room discount). My son adores POP as well so we have some figuring out to do.

EDIT: Free dining at POP it is 🤣

I changed resorts too! Doing a split stay even on a long weekend just because I remembered how irritated I was going to and from MK from Dolphin last time. Now I have 8/28-8/30 at Contemporary and 8/30-9/2 at Swan. I plan on going to the Halloween party so being able to just walk to and from CR will be huge. AP rate for the tower wasn’t terrible at all. Swan I booked through Amex for the statement credit and perks. Swan also ended up being cheaper with my adjusted dates so I was able to snag a King room.

Anyone else as excited as we are with both water parks being open this summer??
Totally!!! If I wasn’t staying at Swan for the rest of my split stay I’d hit both of them. That’s what we’re doing on the big May trip with my partner and friend. I’ve never been to Blizzard Beach before so depending on if I like it or not that may determine which one I hit in August.

We like blizzard beach better....better slides and more of them.

I'm more of a hanging out in the lazy river all day type of water park person 🤣 so I really enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon when we did it a couple of years ago. We never did water parks in the before times and TL has been the only one open for our post reopening trips.

I also like that with the water parks and more tickets you get mini golf included and we never really got to use it due to being a pain to get to...now we will be able to play a round after we leave blizzard beach with it being right there.

We weren't sure if we could swing it this year, but we're booked now with the discounts. Aug 17-29. 2 rooms at the All Star Sports for the 5 of us. Back on property for the first time in 9 years. Celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary and a 21st birthday for our oldest. Doing the 2500 mile round trip drive for the third time.
We will be visiting to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary as well! Staying at all star music 8/23-8/30

Is anyone going in late August and NOT going to MNSSHP?

We had a miserable time last August at the party due to torrential rain and told myself I wouldn't chance the party during the rainy season again, but now I have FOMO. 🫣

We go in late August every year and never go to MNSSHP....not only is it now crazy expensive, crazy crowded we also got hit with rain one-year and everything was cancelled (except the party), and we said never again...just not worth it. The parade is really the only thing i've missed but its rarely updated so not really missing anything.

Yes! Last year the water was past my ankles in MK, we were soaked, no fireworks, rides closed, etc. etc. Totally miserable and we left at 930pm. I am going try to stick to my plan of not buying tickets. LOL

We're travelling 13th to 26th August. Two new resorts for us this trip, 8 nights at POR and 5 nights at GF. So excited both water parks are open, we'll be going to both for sure 😁 we don't go to the parties, after hour events etc

We frequently go in August, and this year is the first time we will go to a party. We never felt like we were missing out before. If you are there for multiple days, I think the extra money is better spent on hoppers. We just wanted to do one day at MK without scorching sun this time, and there is no MK after hours this summer.

We go in August and do not go to the party. However we do often go to MK in the morning of the parties for the lighter crowds. Also stayed at CR in past years and caught the fireworks from there during the party.

I love the Halloween party so I always make it a point to go during my August trips but if I’m honest I think the Halloween fireworks are way more impressive from outside of the park. They had always underwhelmed me from inside at the party, aside from the Jack Skellington puppet, but last September we caught them a couple of times from the resorts (from our room at the Grand before our cruise, and from the Poly CL lounge afterwards). I was shocked at how much bigger and better the pyro looked from further away. Probably because a lot of it is perimeter bursts.

Re: dining I really don't have much planned, because these Labor Day weekend trips are usually too hot for me to want to eat a ton of food, and being solo I tend to wing it a lot more anyway than on trips with my partner. Usually grazing at F&W booths or hitting lounges. But since they just announced that new steakhouse at the Dolphin I will definitely make a point to check it out. I get a $100 resort credit to use from a credit card benefit since I booked my Swan room via Amex and didn’t really know what I was going to spend it on until this.

I wish we were able to make the party this year. Going to early in August because of the window of time my sister and nephews are able to join us this year. It'll be the first year in 4 or so we haven't gone to either Halloween or Christmas.

with that said I am hoping to get into the Typhoon lagoon moonlight, We've only done one other moonlight and I've wanted to do a waterpark one for awhile.

For frequent August Disney travlelers...what do you recommend when it comes to ponchos/rain gear? I have taken ponchos before (I have gone in August/Sept) but it's so gross and humid wearing them. Just wanted to see if anybody has any recommendations.
