I like it okay. I can get the canned in juice instead of syrup. I don’t buy it very often though, as I prefer canned peaches or mandarin oranges (both of which I buy for hurricane season).

No, canned fruit is disgusting to me. I love fresh fruit, make fruit salads frequently, but I don't like peaches

I guess it is, or was, popular when we were kids. Same here, back in the late 40's and 50's for me. We had it pretty often back then.

Today, Marie will cut up a few fresh fruits and serve in a bowl. Or just one cut up fruit.

I do like those little, individual servings of sugar free diced peaches.

Used to eat canned on occasion as a kid and remember fighting over the one or two cherries that they put in the can. This was in the 80s so everything was in syrup, not juice. My favorite part of the canned fruit cocktail experience used to be drinking the syrup after the fruit was gone. :scared: Kinda grosses me out when I think about it now.

These days, on the rare occasion that I buy canned fruit (other than pineapple or mandarins for recipes), I will get the snack cups of just peaches, not cocktail. In JUICE, not syrup, LOL.

I don't think I've ever had a fresh version of fruit cocktail, with the traditional peaches/pears/cherries and whatnot. I eat fresh fruit SALAD with melons, strawberries, grapes but I don't really consider that the same as fruit cocktail.

My parents liked the canned fruit cocktail in heavy syrup.

I occasionally eat packaged fruit, but from 4 or 6 packs of individual cups or a refrigerated plastic jar.

My favorite part of the canned fruit cocktail experience used to be drinking the syrup after the fruit was gone.
I did this also, with the large cans of peaches, halves and slices, Elberta or otherwise. Drink it like a glass of water. Yuk!

Never cared for it and don't eat it as an adult. It is usually a combination of various fruits, some of which I don't care for. Rather make up a fruit bowl of things I like.

I remember it canned as a kid - mostly in school lunches. I haven't had it in a long time, but expect I would still "somewhat like it."

When we do fresh fruit salad, it's a different mix - apples, oranges, grapes, berries... I love it as long as there are no bananas.

My dad worked at a cannery that canned fruit cocktail. Grew up with canned fruit cocktail. Back 60+ years ago dented cans couldn't be sold, so they went back to the cannery. Employees got them for free. I grew up eating a lot of fruit cocktail, peaches, pears and stewed tomatoes from dented cans.
When fruit cocktail canned in fruit juice with no sugar became available, that is all I bought. Unfortunately, as a T2 diabetic, at 12 grams of sugar, even that is on my forbidden list now. Only thing I am allowed as far as fruit is raw apples.
