Enchanted TIKI ROOM

My family loves it, including DH, my 3YO DS and my 7YO DD.

We never bothered going to it until this summer and thought it was so cute! We went twice and I can see why it's a classic Disney attraction!

The Tiki Room is the best. :thumbsup2 Sure we know all the jokes...but laugh at them everytime. :lmao: It's a classic, it's wonderful, and I just love it!

I love the Tiki Room. On my first trip in 1971(I was 12) Adventureland was just the Tiki Room, the Jungle Cruise, and Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. I still love the Jungle Cruise and the Tiki Room. I even had a pet cockatiel named Tiki as a child. I never did like the Tree House though.

Okay, thanks everyone. Now, I will be singing the song all day long. That's okay because I love this attraction. ;)

"Welcome to my tropical hideaway, you lucky people you.... :woohoo:

Anyone remember the enchanted tiki fountain?

I loved the old Tiki Room, it was sooo cute. I hate the under new management
version. I thought it was obnoxious. I can't stand Gilbert Gottfried, the comedian who does the voice of the main character bird. Most of his stand-up comedy routines are filthy and that was all I could think of through out the show. I don't think he was a good choice for Disney to use in the Tiki Room. I wish they would bring back the old version! It was the best!

I remember seeing the original at DL when I was a child. Still miss the old one at WDW, but I'd rather have the new management, than none at all. (although Gilbert gets a bit annoying...) We even have 2 Tiki birds that we bought at WDW over 10 yrs ago, hanging in the kitchen over the sink. :goodvibes This way I can enjoy them everyday
Our 4 yr old DGrD had to see the Tiki birds twice during our trip there 2 weeks ago. :wizard:

I enjoy it, I think it is a nice attraction to go to for a "break". I especially like the thunderstorm part. One thing I agree on is that Gilbert Gottfried's voice is annoying. I did see the original once, but I barely remember it.

I've been in a couple of times and I like it. I pulled our party of eight in just as the skies opned up in June and everyone seemed to enjoy.

I absolutely adore the Enchanted Tiki Room...although the only version I've ever experienced has been the "under new management" show. The tiki room is so beautiful on the inside and the AA's (particularly the Tiki Goddess) are a treat to watch! I think that it's awesome to think that this was Walt's idea and he was proud of it! So we should be, too! ::yes::

I think its corny... but I love it. I can't imagine going to WDW and not seeing it.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Tiki Room! :cool1: when I think of Disney....one of the first things that comes to my mind is that. :thumbsup2 That being said, I am NOT crazy about what they have done with the Tiki room in Florida. :sad2: I think that the original look should have STAYED the original look...you know, Jaques and the guys. I guess I am a traditionalist in my heart, not to mention old fashioned. :teeth: Helen

Wow - thank you everyone! I didn't think my orginal post would generate so much of a response. Leaving for WDW in 2 days, and can't wait to see the Birds!

:yay:

Thumbs up here for the tiki room.A visit to disney wouldn't be complete without visiting the birds at least 3 or 4 times.

Anytime there is Tikiroom thread I have to post. As a child, absoultely my favorite ride. I sing my DD3 to sleep with "Let's all sing like the birdies sing", though I don't think that is original to the Tiki's it is where I learned it. I got to take my wife to the original version in '97 and she loved it too. We went and saw "under new management" in '00, and we both hated it. I actually wrote an angry letter to Disney about it. I think I will have to give it another chance next visit, because my daughter does love birds, and Zazu. The two shows are very different in content, except for the first couple of minutes before Zazu and Iago show up. Many of the effects are similar, but most of the original songs are gone, and they are ingrained so deep in my self-concious (I had, and still have, the LP RECORD of the Tiki Room.

In the next few years, I hope to travel to DL for the sole reason to see Tiki-classic one more time.

I like the old version better, but we can't miss each time we go to MK. My DD likes going a few times.. LOL

On the music download thread, there is the whole "old" version. Brings me back to my first trip to Disney :goodvibes

Ok - I know alot of people (my entire family included) feel the Tiki Room is old, corny and silly (even under "New Management"), but I refuse to apologize for my attraction to it. I don't see many threads in here about the Tiki Room, so I started this one to show solidarity with the Birds!! :thumbsup2

If you like the Room, please post so I can show my family I'm not the only one!

Thanks!!

I like it. It's fun, and it's a good cool place to rest.

I love the Tiki Room. We sing the song (with our own variations) constantly at home. I would be extremely disappointed if it were taken away. I, too, know plenty of people who dislike it, and I just can't understand it. :goodvibes
