With all the construction around the hub and castle area, is this a bad year to get early morning ADR at CRT for primary purpose of getting pictures of the castle and kids w/few people in the background? Can you still achieve pretty pictures without construction fences and mounds of dirt? Our trip is late fall.

It seems to change daily. We were there a few weeks ago and the walls/machines were in different places during our week.

Generally speaking, it's not a good time to get perfect castle photos, no. I was watching the PhotoPass guys take people's pictures with walls and cranes, though, and it made me wonder if Disney is replacing the background on those photos with clean views online. We don't do PhotoPass anymore though so I can't say.

By late fall, hopefully, a lot of it will be done. They did get part of the moat refilled already. The cranes they've been using to paint the castle will be gone, certainly, but if by "late fall" you mean November, they may be back in place to hang the Christmas lights.

Yes, I mean November. But with the Christmas parties already happening at night, won't the lights already be hung?
But I do appreciate the info. My DH doesn't want to go back to CRT and our kids are NOT early risers so to get us there will be a stretch in and of itself. So for not great background scenery and the very real possibility of cranky kids, it's probably not worth it.

We were there this past week and got amazing shots of the castle and us before the park opened. We had an 8:35 ADR at Crystal Palace and got into MK about 8:10. The cranes were not behind the castle. Late fall though might be an issue with the Christmas lights being hung.
